Our time is characterized by the development of new technologies that facilitate communication between people. The need for Video Mediated Communication (VMC) is increasing because people move to other locations due to migration and global mobility. VMC provides the opportunity for millions of people around the world to ?hang out? and see each other despite the distance in between. The world is "shrinking" because of the Internet and our perception of distance is changing.VMC is becoming increasingly available, in the form of applications like Skype and MSN for mobile phones and computers, and in addition, it?s practically free.The purpose of this thesis is to render a picture of the way in which people use Skype in the private sphere.

Modellering och simulering av hovrande helikopter

At the department of Electronic Warfare Assessments at the Swedish Defence Research Agency in Linköping one of the activities is modelling and simulation of the duel between a robot and a target. The aim with this Master's thesis is to develop a simulation model of an hovering helicopter. First a theoretical description of the forces and moments acting on an helicopter is given. Then the equations of motion are derived. These equations are simplified to be valid only for a hovering helicopter and the result is a mathematical model.

Könsöverskridande identitet eller uttryck : En diskursanalys av hur transpersoner inkluderas i Diskrimineringslagen

In 2009 transgendered persons were included in the Swedish law against discrimination. Prior to the inclusion a commission made an investigation of the necessity of such change in the law and how it could be designed. This essay focuses on the discourses regarding gender that appear in the law and the report written by the commission. Using theories by Judith Butler and discourse analysis inspired by Norman Fairclough it identifies two main discourses regarding gender: a two gender discourse and a queer discourse. The two discourses meet in the studied material in an antagonistic way, a conflict that is solved by separating the two and making one part of the law focus on gender and one on transgender.

The Swedish Armed Forces have undergone a significant change where we have gone from recruitment through duty and replaced it with a voluntary based defence. Across Europe, countries that have undergone the same type of change demonstrate change in the quality of those recruited. The focus in this paper is how recruitment quality looks in Sweden after three years of volunteer based defence and if officers at P7 can see a change in quality on those recruited. This work aims to investigate whether soldier quality has changed from conscription recruited to voluntary recruited soldiers. The question that the work tries to answer is whether one can see a change in quality in soldiers and in that case how.The result can be summarized as one begins to see a change in recruiting quality but it is not something that is visible at the regiments.

Kvinnor som ledare i ett kooperativt företag

Uppsatsen behandlar den finansiella redovisningen av avsättningar för avhjälpande av förorenings­skador. Syftet är att undersöka hur ägarkoncentrationen hänger samman med den grad av informationspublicering företag har valt kring dessa avsättningar. I studien undersöks 44 företag inom olika branscher och med olika ägandeformer. I jämförelsen mellan samtliga fallföretag konstaterar vi att det finns ett samband mellan låg ägar­­kon­centration och hög grad av informations­publicering. Vi diskuterar också hur graden av vinstsyfte kan påverka graden av informations­publicering.

?Just culture? or just culture? : har Försvarsmakten en rättvisekultur eller bara en kultur?

Ett flygsäkerhetsarbete bygger på ett förtroende mellan individen och organisationen. Det finns en brist inom Försvarsmakten rapporteringssystem, där fördelningen av rapporter med avseende på mänskliga misstag, är avvikande från vad som anses som normalt inom flygverksamhet. Varför avviker rapporteringen i FM från normalbilden? Ett perspektiv som kan förklara denna avvikelse är rättvisekulturperspektivet.Syftet är att diskutera huruvida den ojämna fördelningen av avvikelserapporter med avseende på mänskliga misstag i FM flygsäkerhetsarbete kan förklaras ur ett just culture perspektiv med fokus på regler och styrdokument .Resultatet är att FM inte är att anse som en rättvisekultur. Framförallt är detta på grund av den bristfälliga kulturella grunden, disciplinsystemet och skyddandet av rapporteringssystemet..

Kadetter på väg mot examen : Är de motiverade till fortsatt anställning i Försvarsmakten?

This paper is about the different parts within the officers training that motivate the cadets to continue their employment within the armed forces after graduation, it also brings up the different parts that influences their motivation in a negative way. Six cadets from the 2011 class at the military academy at Karlberg have been interview in order to give their view on the following seven themes; reasons to take employment, collegiate attitude, comfort, study motivation, perceived education quality, the regiment and career. The responses have then been compared to the previous research at a cadet level which have been scarce. The result followed the previous findings about conscript?s motivation to continue their career and officers to end theirs.

The purpose of this study was to examine how convenience stores use customer information. To meet this case study?s purpose two interviews were carried out at both a central level as well as a local level at the studied company.

The margin in crop production is more and more less and it forces the producer to check out how to reduce the cost of establishment of new crop. One way to reduce the cost in establishment is to begin with plough less farming. It saves money and time compares to conventional soil preparation with plough and harrow. Not all soil types are god for plough less farming and should be continued with ploughing (mainly light soil), but other soil types working very well with plough free farming. If you want to success with plough less farming you have to think in new lanes. One of the things you have to think about is to not grow too much cereal after cereal. Low stubble is important when you harvest the crop and also to spread and chop the straw well. I have in this work interviewed some farmers and farm advisers in Östergötland to see which thoughts they have about plough less farming.

Society is facing rapid and continuous change. In order to participate in the development, organizations need to take advantage of all the knowledge and skills available in the labor market. Women leaders in top positions are still in the minority but do as good a job as their male colleagues. She brings different dynamics and a new dimension in the work culture but is nevertheless excluded from the mightiest rooms. The purpose of this study is to elucidate the organizational factors that determine and facilitate for women to take on leadership positions.

Hemlighetsmakeri som strategi

Syfte: Vårt syfte är, att genom att studera Apples historia, omvärld, bransch och strategiska val, analysera om och hur Apple använder hemlighetsmakeriet som grund för skapande av långsiktiga och varaktiga konkurrensfördelar. Metod: Vi har använt oss av en kvalitativ metod med primärdata bestående av intervjuer med personer insatta i Apple och dess omvärld. Sekundärdatan består mestadels av artiklar från olikaelektroniska källor, facklitteratur och tidskrifter. Teoretiska perspektiv: Vi använder oss av teorier och begrepp som Porters Five forces, Schumpeterian markets, Hyperkonkurrens, delar av Porters generiska strategier samt Barneys VRIO. Empiri: Vi har gjort en fallstudie av Apple med inslag av jämförelser med andra företag.

Has this implementation been effective?The WTO also created The EPRP program to the Doha Round in order to create poverty reducing projects amongst developing countries.

Utveckling av dynamiska farthinder

The aim of this Master of Science Thesis is to develop guidelines and improvementsuggestions of RiNOVA Traffic AB?s dynamic speed bump. The project started with athorough pre study of the design and its function to find out how passing vehiclesaffects the dynamic speed bump. The majority part of the pre study was to createnecessary mathematical models to explain the arisen forces and strains.The results of the mathematical models gave necessary information about the designregarding weaknesses and flaws. The most critical ones where those which interferedwith the design?s performance and reliability, and therefore needed to be corrected.These problems where more thorough analysed and discussed with experts before thefinal guidelines and improvement suggestions where developed.The parts of the design that had to be redesigned were the extension springs and thebearing that enables the dynamic properties.

Boktips 2.0 : En kvalitativ studie om elevers delaktighet i skapandet av boktipsvideor på en biblioteksblogg

The aim of this study was to, through a qualitative method, investigate students? participation in a specific library blog to find out what motivate them to create and share digital book recommendations through videos. It also intended to describe the students? own views of their participation.We conducted interviews with eight students in the ages 12 and 13, who all had similar experiences regarding the blog creation but diverse attitudes concerning the blog production and intentions to participate.The results showed that the strongest motivating forces behind the students' participation in the blog creation was that they enjoyed the making of the videos and also because they wanted to inspire others to read more and create resembling blogs..
