The present essay concerns Walter Benjamin´s engagement with the concept of critique in four of his early writings from 1916-1928. It revolves around three main themes, or objects of interest: the critique of language [Sprache], the critique of the work [das Werk] and the critique of history [Geschichte]. The main objective of this study is to show how we can understand Benjamin?s conception of critique and how he develops it in regard to language, the work and history. The essay argues that this is a vital part to understand his philosophy in general as well as his later philosophy of history in particular.

The purpose of this work was to investigate the early medieval view of the Bilical king David through the analysis of ten illuminations found in early medieval manuscripts in which he is depicted playing string instruments. First, a description of medieval manuscripts and king David and string instruments was presented, second, an analysis and a discussion of images as source material and an interpretation of the mythic and symbolic significance that is based on ideas presented by Paul Ricoeurs and Roland Barthes of the ten illuminations followed. The results showed that king David often was portrayed as a musical king, a dancer and a prophet that incarnated wisdom and justice; that king David served as a role-model for the Western regents, and that he was portrayed in an idealised and estethically appealing manner..

In this essay the aim is to look at difficulties in preservation of buildings in general, andespecially the ones of the modernist era. To navigate in this huge field the study is narroweddown to take place in Finspång, a small Swedish town. In Finspång there was a swimmingpool facility built in 1967. In 2003 the facility was closed down due to its unusable conditionsand then after seven years with discussions of different plans about what to do with thefacility it was demolished in 2010. This case is the base in the essay, and why it was notpreserved.The purpose of this essay is to look at what the people in Finspång think about preservation ofbuildings with the demolished swimming hall facility as base, and what impact materiality hason questions regarding preservation, cultural heritage, memory and history.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att under perioden 1963-2004 undersöka hur uttalade och outtalade teoretiska kriterier för värdefull film i de olika filmavtalen omsatts i praktiken genom Svenska Filminstitutets (SFI) produktionsstödsgivning. This master thesis is an early concept development project about using plastic films and sheets as materials for shaping openings for Tetra Pak packages. It is also a technical introduction highlighting the areas of importance for the development of plastic film and sheets openings. The master thesis has been carried out as a co-operation between Chalmers University of Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Tetra Pak AB.The master thesis study presents an introduction that gives an understanding of the technical complexities and design possibilities of using thin plastic films and sheets in liquid carton openings. The knowledge is then transferred into five design concepts which points out the areas of opportunity. The technical introduction is widespread and extensive covering current packing trends, the liquid carton package and openings, thermoplastic material properties, and thin film and sheet manufacturing and shaping.

Följande undersökning behandlar uppbyggnaden av en CV-film med utgångspunkt i sociologen Erving Goffmans teori om identitet och självrepresentation samt filmteoretikern David Bordwells teori om narratologi. Goffmans teori har använts för att ta reda på vad som ska framställas i filmen medan Bordwells teori applicerats på frågan om hur filmen ska framställas. Inom det teoretiska ramverket finns även Stuart Halls teori om representation för att kunna belysa teorierna av Goffman och Bordwell utifrån ett gemensamt perspektiv. Fokusgruppmetoden har använts för att kvalitativt samla information om vad en CV-film bör kommunicera till skillnad från ett skriftligt CV. Samt hur den bör utformas för att vara så användbar som möjligt. Resultatet visade att filmen inte bör vara längre än 2-3 minuter för att behålla publikens intresse.

Att den illegala fildelningen är ett problem för den svenska filmmarknaden som måste bekämpas är något som Antipiratbyrån vill framhålla. Piratbyrån å andra sidan menar att problemet inte är så stort och inte ens värt att lägga energi på. Vi ville därför undersöka hur den illegala fildelningen verkligen påverkar den svenska filmmarknaden. Detta gjordes genom att först intervjua både Antipiratbyrån och Piratbyrån för att få fram olika synsätt på problemområdet. Vi gjorde även en litteraturgenomgång där vi fann relevanta teorier som vi utformade vissa antaganden utifrån.
