Detta examensarbete som är på avancerad nivå handlar om ett samarbete med företaget Calesco Foil AB. Målet med arbetet är att ta fram nya användningsområden för deras befintliga produkt FRTP Heater (Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Heater). Det är en patenterad produkt som är ett värmegivande folie laminerat med glasfibrer. Det vi gjort är en produktframtagning med företagets FRTP Heater integrerad med en lampa som tillsammans bildar ett innovativt värmeelement. Detta har gjorts med fokus på företagets produkt egenskaper.Vi har använt oss av olika produktutvecklingsverktyg för att sammanställa och utveckla arbetet.

Att koppla samman nätverk över geografiskt olika platser har blivit allt vanligare i dagens samhälle. Rapporten kommer belysa olika WAN-lösningar för att göra detta möjligt. De olika lösningar som kommer belysas i denna rapport är att hyra egen fiber, lager2-länk, MPLS och även VPN. Det kommer göras jämförelser mellan dessa lösningar när det gäller kostnad, säkerhet, hastighet och tillförlitlighet. Detta har gjorts med vetenskapliga artiklar och intervjuer men rapporten innefattar även en praktisk tillämpling i form av ett experiment..

This report examines the prerequisites for LEDs to replace other technologies indifferent applications. How does the different technologies for light generationwork and what are the advantages and disadvantages? The various technologieslimitations and characteristics provides the opportunities for the LEDs.This report describes a test-construction built to examine what practical arrangementscan be built with modern light emitting diodes, in order to showsome of the possibilities. The construction consists of three different applications,a high power lamp based on cold white LEDs, one based on warm whiteLEDs for the evaluation of the light characteristics and a RGB-LED based lampable to mix any colors quickly and seamlessly. The test construction also containsthe essential peripherals including control-electronics, optics and a custombuilt watercooling solution.The potential for LEDs is huge but it is complicated to build LED based applicationsdue to the limitations which mainly includes the electronics and theneccesary cooling.

Dairy cows transform grass to milk with help from ruminal microorganisms that can digest indigestible fiber in their feed. The digestive system of the cow is adapted to a diet consisting of forage and disorders like acidosis, laminitis and abomasal displacement can occur if the feed contains too much starch. To achieve the highest production possible the cow has to be given a high amount of concentrate or grain as the difference in milk yield is significant, approximately 1000 kg energy corrected milk per cow and year between conventional and organic cows that are fed a lower versus a higher share of forage. If the cow shall be able to eat the same amount of energy from forage as from grain or concentrate the eating- and rumination time gets longer and she might not be able to eat enough, which will result in a lower milk yield and will make it harder for the cow to recover from the negative energy balance that originate from the beginning of the lactation. Fat and in a sense protein content differs also depending on if the cow is given a high or low share of forage..

This study was performed in order to investigate the difficulty in diagnosing retrobulbar disease with ultrasound. A retrospective study was accomplished to investigate the use of ultrasound in patients with suspected retrobulbar problems, and how often the examination is diagnostic. The computer based patient files, at the University of Agricultural Science in Uppsala, were searched for dogs with suspected retrobulbar disease. During 1999-01-01-2004-04-14, 14 patients fulfilling the search criteria were found. The patient records were studied, and the written reports from the ultrasound examinations were compared with the printed pictures from the examinations.

En god hygienisk kvalité och ett bra näringsvärde i sitt foder är en viktig del i produktionen och för lönsamheten. Majsensilage blir allt vanligare i svenska foderstater och något som är relativt nytt i Sverige är Corn Cob Mix, förkortas CCM-majs. En god kvalité kan uppnås genom rätt skördetidpunkt, sortval och motverka värmegång i ensilaget genom rätt val av tillsatsmedel. Syftet med denna rapport var att jämföra den hygieniska kvalitén av CCM-majs, kärnmajs och majsensilage i synnerhet och öka kunskapen om CCM-majs i allmänhet. Ambitionen är att få ökad användning av CCM-majs och förbättra konkurrenskraften hos gris, mjölk- och nötköttsproducenter i Sverige. Under försöket samlades prover från majsensilage och CCM-majs in för analyser från både Sverige och Danmark.

Denna rapport är resultatet av ett examensarbete omfattande 15 hp på C-nivå utfört vid Högskolan Väst. Arbetets första del bestod av en litteraturstudie och undersökning av befintliga temperaturmätningssystem som används i skärande bearbetning. Arbetets andra del bestod av att rekommendera temperaturmätningssystem och skapa en implementeringsplan för det rekommenderade systemet i utrustning på Produktions Tekniskt Center (PTC) i Trollhättan.Sex stycken olika tekniker för att mäta temperatur har undersökts med avseende på lämplighet för skärande bearbetning. Varje teknik presenteras med sammanfattande tabell med egenskaper samt för- och nackdelar.En teknik (pyrometri via optisk fiber) har valts ut för PTC och för den finns två tekniska specifikationer. En specifikation för ett system som kan anses vara kommersiellt tillgängligt (om en i mycket liten skala, 4-5 installationer i världen).

No summary of feeding recommendations for foals exists today, which is why this subject was chosen for a literature study. The aim of this study was to describe nutrient requirements of healthy full term foals and how the feeding should be designed to raise foals if they lose their mother. Mare milk composition changes during lactation to meet the requirements of the suckling foal. Foals are born with enzymes in their small intestine and the concentrations of these follow the consumption patterns of the foal. Microbes colonizes the gut as the foal becomes older and these changes cause foal diarrhea.

Detta examensarbete är gjort på uppdrag av Fiber Optik Valley. Huvuduppdraget i projektet var att skapa ett fungerande betalningssystem för en hotspot och att utveckla företagets webbsida. Hotspotsystemet som baserades på en gratistjänst från Public IP, är tänkt att kunna fungera delvis autonomt utan ägarens ingripande. Företagets webbsida skapades i en Flex2-utvecklingsmiljö och produkten blev en Adobe Flash-applikation. För att få ett dynamiskt och konfigurerbart system skapades även en kontrollpanel till webbsidan åt företagets webbadministratörer, så att innehållet på sidan ska kunna förändras utan att behöva kompilera om koden.

Globalt sett är Sverige ett föregångsland inom informationsteknologi. Såväl nationell som internationell statistik visar på växande bredbandstillgång och alltmer frekvent användning av tjänster på Internet. Sådana siffror utgår emellertid ofta från ett leverantörsperspektiv och teoretiska prestanda. Detta examensarbete kartlägger faktisk tillgång till bredband i Sverige, samt utvärderar dess implikationer för fortsatt utveckling av Internetanvändningen ur ett ekonomiskt perspektiv. Dessutom analyseras framtidspotentialen för nuvarande accesstekniker i landet.Datastudien innefattar de trådbundna accessteknikerna xDSL, kabel-tv och fiber-LAN samt ett antal trådlösa tekniker, så kallat mobilt bredband.

Cows are ruminants and they need fibers in their feed and sufficient eating time to function psychologically and physiologically. Many of our cows don?t get enough forage and too much concentrates, which given in the wrong way may cause health and behavior problems. Too much concentrates at once makes the pH in the rumen sink and this may cause decreased fiber utilization since the microbes in the rumen are negatively affected by this. The cow may also get serious problems such as laminitis and abomasal dislocation.

Destillers dried grains with soluble (DDGS) is a by-product when producing ethanol. DDGS from wheat has a high crude protein content and a good amino acid profile, which makes it an interesting feed ingredient for poultry. The disadvantage of feeding DDGS from wheat to poultry is that it also contains a high fiber content that chickens don?t have the ability to break down. Lantmännen Agroetanol has developed a new protein feedstuff from DDGS by extracting wheat protein from DDGS, the product name is Agroprotein SD.

This essay examines pull-out strength of threaded rods fixed into glulam timber. The technology is intended to be used in hidden joints between glulam components. The work began with a study of literature focusing on current research within the topic, mainly to create a base of knowledge before the testing was initiated. Studies of scientific articles reveals a lack of research within this area, which makes it difficult to develop standards and calculation models for these joints. The drill holes in the tests have a diameter of 7 mm.

Textilåtervinning är mycket aktuellt, främst för syntetiska fibrer då dess framställning påverkar miljön i hög grad. Dessutom utvinns de ur petrokemisk källa som är en ändbar resurs. Återvinningsindustrin för textilier fungerar i dagsläget inte optimalt, vilket motiverar detta examensarbete. Återvunnen polyester, från PET-flaskor eller textilier har funnits i ca 10 år men nu börjar även återvunnen polyamid lanseras på marknaden. Denna rapport ger en överskådlig bild över textil- och polyamidåtervinning.
