This thesis concerns the feminist consciousness-raising novel of the 1970s. The aim of the thesis is to examine narrative strategies which, according to the consciousness-raising practice, are adapted to enlighten the political aspects of the personal. The focus is both on strategies that address the protagonist and on those that address the reader. I also examine in which way the use of these strategies is dependent upon ideas of class and gender.I find that the narrative situation, in this case the relationship between the protagonist and the narrator, is central to the use of the consciousness-raising narrative strategies. In Anna-Lisa Bäckmans Fia i folkhemmet och Fia med manifestet, the protagonist Fia is positioned as an oppressed working-class woman, which results in a narrative situation that gives the protagonist a limited space of action and that gives the narrator the power to interpret the experiences of the protagonist.

Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka hur en grupp unga, svenska kvinnor mellan 20-30 år upplever de kvinnliga skönhetsidealen, samt att granska vad målgruppen anser om Doves Campaign for Real Beauty. Syftet är att studera om informanterna upplever kampanjen som ett steg i rätt riktning för att öka diskussionen och vidga begreppet skönhet. Med detta hoppas vi uppnå en större förståelse för hur unga svenska kvinnor ser på skönhetsidealen idag och om kampanjer likt Doves, är rätt tillvägagångssätt för att nå ett förändrat ideal.Teori: Delar av feministisk teori, receptionsstudier samt Stuart Halls teori om inkodning och avkodning.Metod: Två kvalitativt semistrukturerade fokusgruppsintervjuer med totalt sju kvinnor.Slutsatser: Informanterna skiljer på skönhet och skönhetsideal. De anser att Doves kampanj, Campaign for Real Beauty är ett steg i rätt riktning för ett förändrat ideal. Däremot ifrågasätter de Doves uttalade budskap med kampanjen och menar att det huvudsakliga målet skulle vara att öka försäljningen och stärka varumärket, snarare än att öka kvinnors självförtroende..

This essay examines how three big Swedish newspapers depicts e-sports and computer gaming and how the depiction change during 2000-2013. The study will also examine whether e-sports is being portrayed as competitive sport. The purpose is to investigate which attitudes that can be identified towards computer gaming and its culture in major newspapers such as Aftonbladet, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet and how these attitudes eventually changed over time. The sources that will be used in both the quantitative and qualitative analysis are based on web articles, mainly because the paper editions does not provide much, if any, information about computer gaming and e-sports and also because of the convenience of being able to quickly find articles to study. Results indicate that computer gaming is being depicted in a clear negative fashion during 2000-2006, and that the depiction of e-sports is somewhat positive but not as glorifying as for the years 2007-2013. During this period, there is a apparent tendency of e-sports being introduced to readers who are unfamiliar with the gaming culture. As for the attitudes towards computer gaming, the depiction is still somewhat negative, mainly because the debate about computer games and violence was revived because of several acts of violence in shape of school massacres and mass murder.

Vid första anblick kan rum och platser verka könsneutrala. Men eftersom dessa är skapade av människor som ingår i politiska och sociala sammanhang påverkas även de av omgivningens könsnormer. Syftet med den här kandidatuppsatsen är att undersöka hur landskapsarkitekter ser på genusperspektiv och hur de konkret arbetar med det i sitt yrke. Med en ostrukturerad intervjuform har tre stycken yrkesverksamma landskapsarkitekter intervjuats i Stockholm. Resultatet av intervjun visade på att de dominerande frågorna inom genusperspektivet är trygg- och säkerhetsaspekten samt barns lekplatser.

?Happy, happy, liksom? handlar om tvåsamhetsnormen och hur den (re)produceras i den samtida svenska kulturen. Uppsatsen tar sin utgångspunkt i feministisk teori, bland annat normkritik, socialkonstruktivism och teorier om heteronormativitet, och applicerar dem på en debatt om skilsmässa som pågick i svensk dags- och fackpress under hösten 2011. Debatten utlöstes av boken Happy Happy: En bok om skilsmässa, red. Maria Sveland och Katarina Wennstam.

Based on the assumption that the work of contemporary Swedish poet Helena Eriksson, in various ways elaborates the inseparable relation between body and language, this study aims to investigate how this view of language comes to expression in her poetry. Stepping from a theoretical background of feminist perspectives on the body, as well as recent theories on poetic materiality, the analysis points out how the concepts of aesthetic and/or linguistic materiality, social and technological materiality, and what can be described as the ethical dimension of materiality, all as termed by Jesper Olsson and Fredrik Hertzberg, take on feminist implications in Eriksson?s poetry. Through the theory of feminist anthropologist Vicki Kirby and her account of Derrida?s general view of writing, the study makes use of a deconstructive approach to the later work of Eriksson.

Syftet med denna kvalitativa undersökning är att undersöka våldsutsatta kvinnors erfarenheter och upplevelser av bemötandet hos myndigheter och organisationer som de kommer i kontakt med då de har sökt hjälp. Enligt feministiska våldsforskningen måste våldet förstås och tolkas utifrån en samhällelig kontext som är utformad av mäns makt över kvinnor som resulterat i att männen besitter rollen som överordnad och kvinnan underordnad. Med Handlingsprogram för insatser vid våld mot kvinnor i Malmö som underlag, presenterar jag myndigheters ansvar och uppdrag vid bemötandet av våldsutsatta kvinnor som jag sedan jämfört och analyserat tillsammans med feministisk teori och det empiriska materialet. Insamling av empirisk data gjordes utifrån semistrukturerade intervjuer med sex stycken kvinnor där samtliga lämnat en relation som innefattat våld. Resultatet visar på att brister finns vid bemötandet hos myndigheter och organisationer.

Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur pedagoger tänker kring och upplever pojkar som överträder traditionella könsnormer samt vad de har för erfarenheter av de hinder och möjligheter som möter könsöverskridande pojkar. Vår metod har varit en kvalitativ intervjustudie med pedagoger som arbetar/t i förskola. Vi har intervjuat sex pedagoger. Vår teoretiska utgångspunkt är feministisk poststrukturalism med hjälp av queerteori. Vårt resultat visar på att pedagoger anser sig skapa möjlighetsvillkor för överskridande pojkar utifrån deras synsätt i verksamheten och de beskriver att det ofta handlar om kvinnligt kodade attiraljer som bärs av pojkar.

The aim of this thesis is to, from a feminist point of view, analyse the Universal Decimal Classification UDC, which is an international and widely used classification system. A number of the larger classification systems and subject heading lists have during the last decades been placed in the limelight of various gender studies and the systems treatment of women has been criticized. With this examination of the UDC, I dont merely wish to identify shortcomings and advantages with the UDCs way to treat men and women. The UDC is also used as an example of how the gender problem can be identified and interpretated in classification systems generally. My analysis is performed with a theoretical foundation in feminist science theories about knowledge and norms, together with a linguistic perspective on valuing and emotionally tinged language.

This thesis takes as its point of departure the Swedish governmental family policy and the debate on the proposed reform ?vårdnadsbidraget?. The supporters of the reform present it as something that will increase the freedom of choice for families and benefit the children, whereas the opponents warn for decreased equality and a return to the male breadwinner-model.From a constructivist perspective, language is closely related to power through defining and ascribing meaning to reality. By applying a feminist political theory on the debate within the Swedish national parliament 2007/2008 and conducting a discourse analysis, the aim of this paper is to analyse which concepts are used and how they construct to what makes a family within the political debate ? is there any difference or similarity between the view of the opponents and the supporters of ?vårdnadsbidraget??The main conclusion of this paper is that even though the political ideal and rhetorical concepts differ between the supporters and the opponents, they still constitute the heterosexual nuclear family as an obvious norm in family politics.

Under 1995 togs ett riksdagsbeslut om att skapa en stödform som möjliggjorde för partier med mandat i riksdagen att med Sida-finansierade projektmedel verka för att bygga upp partisystem i Östeuropa och i utvecklingsländer genom så kallade partianknutna organisationer (PAO). Dessa organisationer skall enligt ett regeringsbeslut från 1998 också arbeta med att särskilt uppmärksamma kvinnor i sina projekt. Jämställdhet har sedan mitten av 1990-talet varit ett av huvudmålen för svenskt bistånd och på senare år har jämställdhet kommit att utgöra en betydelsefull markör för svensk nationell identitet.I uppsatsen studeras hur svenska nationella identiteter konstrueras i PAO:s biståndsarbete för jämställdhet, och med att särskilt uppmärksamma kvinnor. Syftet fokuserar på hur dessa föreställningar, sammanlänkade med idéer om kön och ?ras?, etableras och upprätthålls inom PAO-biståndet.

Syftet med min uppsats har varit att undersöka hur tre kvinnor genom sina berättelser om jobbiga förlossningar gjort sina upplevelser begripliga i relation till normer om kvinnlighet. Undersökningen består av tre semistrukturerade intervjuer vilka jag, med ett narrativt angreppssätt, analyserat genom att göra en innehållsanalys och en formanalys. Resultatet visar att det i kvinnornas berättelser framkommer tydliga normer kopplade till kvinnlighet. Normerna är flera, men handlar på det stora hela om att barnafödande är någonting naturligt som kvinnor ska klara av utan problem. Då kvinnornas berättelser handlar om upplevelser som avviker från denna norm måste de hela tiden positionera sig själva och sina upplevelser i relation till normen för att kunna förstå sin upplevelse och göra den legitim.

In the prison of Kumla, Sweden`s highest security classified institution, spiritual retreats are pursued since 2001. The aim is to offer the inmates a possibility to enter deeply into spiritual contemplation. This spiritual contemplation is made possible through the fact that the prisoners carry out a retreat designed after guidelines written by Ignatius of Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises. The purpose of this examination is to study how ordinary institutional life in comparison to monastic life defines and creates different attitudes and roles amongst the inmates. A secondary aim is to describe the consequences of the retreat on individual basis.

The purpose of this study is to explore specific pedagogical activities that benefit the student's verbal language development and to learn more about how our schools use teaching methods to achieve the ambitions in the governing documents in Sweden. The aim is finding the correlation between theory, research, governing documents and the educational work in our schools. This study contains an empirical survey in intention to see how teachers, pupils and school administrators experience school activities, to see if those activities are formed with the intention for pupils to reach the learning goals according to the governing documents.The aim of this study has been achieved by relating empirical data with theories and previous research on conversation analysis. Goffman's and Norrby's research on the importance of dialogue and previous research on dialogicity studied by Dysthe, Vygotsky and Bakhtin are presented. Those are related to empirical data and show that most teachers realize the importance of integrating dialogues in daily activities and in different learning contexts.

Three main questions give the fundamental structure for this master thesis: 1) In what way is the notion of law being perceived in the following theologians respectively; David P. Scaer, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Wolfhart Pannenberg? 2) In what way is the notion of law being perceived in the encyclical Veritatis Splendor? 3) Which similarities and divergences can be found in the respective expositions of the notion of law?For the purpose of comparison, I have employed four questions of analysis. These are: A) What is ?the law?? B) Is the law being effected, or is it working, in the world and if so - in what ways and for what purposes is it meant to serve? C) Does human beings have any capacities to understand and/or live in accordance to the law? D) Does the Gospel, perceived as the earthly life, actions, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, effect any alteration with respect to the purpose, range, function or interpretation of the law?In order to better understand Roman-Catholic concepts of law, the treatise on law of Thomas Aquinas Summa Theologica is briefly presented.
