Syftet med uppsatsen är att studera maskuliniteter i manga, och att jämföra ifall de skiljer sig åt beroende på om serien riktar sig till pojkar eller flickor. Min teori var R.W. Connels "Maskuliniteter" och mitt material den första volymen av One Piece (pojke) och Mei-Chan no Shitsuji (flicka). Resultatet blev att det förekom ett flertal olika maskuliniteter i serierna, och att dessa skilde sig åt beroende på serie. I One Piece utmanades den hegemoniska maskuliniteten och karaktärer bytte maskulinitet, något som inte förekom i Mei-Chan.

I denna studie har vi sökt svara på frågan angående hur unga kvinnor ser på sig själva och sin roll i samhället. Detta har gjorts utifrån frågeställningar om hur unga kvinnor resonerar kring framtiden, genus och självbild.Datainsamlingen utfördes med hjälp av metoden fokusgrupp. I fokusgruppen deltog sex unga kvinnor i åldrarna 17 till 23 som på olika sätt varit i kontakt med organisationenMamita Sthlm, en organisation som fokuserar på personlig utveckling med hjälp av bland annat yoga och samtalsterapi. Vi kom i kontakt med dessa informanter genom Cristina Tscherning som är en terapeut på Mamita och som vi har varit i kontakt med sedan tidigare.Analysen av fynden har gjorts utifrån Judith Butlers genusteori och Michel Foucaults teori om makt och diskurs. De upptäckter vi har gjort visar att informanterna upprätthåller och reproducerar könsmaktsordningen och de maktstrukturer som konstruerats och konstrueras i samhället.

The paper will clear out the student perspective in order to examine students' attitude towards what would be important to touch on a matter of life. The essay will explore what is important for students to discuss and respond to their environment in schools and perceived to be relevant to talk about in life skills. There is an object which deals with gender and masculinity in the study. The study would examine whether a student perspective on life can affect the current knowledge of gender structures in the school. Qualitative research interviews were carried out in seven students in grade 9 at a school located in inner suburbs of Stockholm.

In this essay I analyse the constructions of gender in the series The Phantom by Lee Falk. I apply David Tjeders readings of the bourgouise masculinity, its sensitive character and great risk of falling into unmanliness, when discussing The Phantom?s masculine development. I have analysed three adventures of The Phantom from the years 1937, 1977 and 1996, all authored by original creator Lee Falk. I argue that The Phantom increases his use of violence, therefore risking a loss of character.

AbstractA beautiful death ? Manliness in four Japanese samurai moviesThis thesis deals with the samurai and his portrayal in Japanese historic movies and what kind of messages he conveys in form of masculinity to theater audiences. Four movies were chosen, two from the 1960s and two from the 2010s. The reasoning behind this was to look at two eras of samurai movies and if possible try to see differences between them. The history of the samurai, being a man and woman in modern Japan, R.W Connell and famous Japanese authors from different time eras acted as tools to try to answer the questions in hand.

Äldre är en samhällsgrupp med låg status. Kvantitativa studier visar att äldre är underrepresenterade i massmedia trots att de utgör omkring 17 procent av befolkningen. De uppmärksammas först när de gått in i den senare delen av åldrandet, då beroende och förfall är ett faktum. En alltför enahanda och negativ rapportering av äldre riskerar att framställa dem främst som ett samhällsproblem, något som kan leda till avståndstagande och diskriminering. The aim of this paper is to compare and analyze Eugene O?Neill?s play Long Day?s Journey into Night with Lars Noréns Natten är dagens mor (Night is Mother to the Day). Syftet med denna uppsats är att försöka tolka ett eventuellt mönster av maskulina framställningar och ställa dessa tolkningar i relation till den äldre, mer traditionella bilden av mannen. Detta gjordes genom en studie av reklamfilm i svensk TV. Studien är en diskursanalys som utgår från ett analysschema vilket tagits fram med hjälp av Keith Selby och Ron Cowderys bok How to study television. Analysschemat är indelat i sex olika nivåer. I vårt samhälle förknippas ofta bröstet med femininitet, moderskap och sexualitet.SyfteSyftet var att beskriva kvinnors upplevelse av sin livssituation efter mastektomi till följd av bröstcancer.MetodDenna studie är en systematisk litteraturstudie med beskrivande design. Författarna gjorde en databassökning på databaserna Cinahl, PubMed, PsycINFO och SveMed+.

Frågor kring kön och sexualitet har satts högre upp på dagordningen i moderna organisationer. Trots det är sexualitet en eftersatt forskningsfråga inom organisationsteori. Den queerteoretiska forskningsskolan utgår ifrån ifrågasättandet av synen på heterosexualiteten som naturlig och självklar. Normen definierar könen som binära motsatser. Syftet med studien var att genom deltagande observationer undersöka hur iscensättandet av kön och heterosexualitet gick till i arbetsgruppen.

Problem: En problematik i sjukvården är att psykosociala problem sällan eller aldrig fångas upp av vårdpersonalen, att vara ung är en riskfaktor för att drabbas av psykosociala problem. Det är därför av vikt för sjuksköterskan att ha kunskap om den psykosociala påverkan som unga kvinnor med bröstcancer upplever. Syftet: var att belysa unga kvinnors upplevelser av sin bröstcancer ur ett kosocialt perspektiv, relaterat till omvårdnad.Metod: En litteraturstudie, där 14 kvalitativa och kvantitativa artiklar som svarade mot studiens syfte användes. Resultat och konklusion: Bröstcancern påverkade kvinnans relationer med de anhöriga både positivt och negativt. De kroppsliga förändringar som uppstod till följd av bröstcancern skapade funderingar kring reproduktion, sexualitet och femininitet. De unga kvinnorna upplevde brist  på anpassad information och anpassat stöd, de upplevde även att de förlorade sin identitet. Rädslan för att dö eller återinsjukna präglade kvinnornas liv.

The aim of this thesis is to examine representations of masculinity in the activities of a local professional wrestling promotion. After briefly outlining what professional wrestling is, the study draws on a body on feminist and intersectional theory which critiques the notion of gender as a binary and essential category. The material comprises 10 recorded shows and oth- er material published on Sthlm Wrestling?s website between 2010 and 2013, and is analyzed using a qualitative methodology derived from cultural studies. The thesis argues that there are many different types of masculinities in the narrative, which are constructed in relation to different power hierarchies such as ethnicity, class, sex and sexuality.

This study highlights the problematic situation fathers encounter when they require help and support in a custodial dispute. Previous research shows the emergence of a new, more involved father. In the light of this earlier research, this study will show a father that is willing to fight for his rights to be a present and engaged parent in the case of a separation from the mother. The aim was to analyze the subjective perceptions of five fathers in custodial dispute. This analysis did not only show how they perceive their role as a father and their masculinity but also the way they feel about the help they got from social services and other institutions.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine the image of the man in Swedish crime fiction. Gender theory based uponRobert W. Connell theoretical framework which discusses masculinities in plural is used. The method used is idea analysis and my supply for analyse is constructed on thebasis of Connell?s four ideal types regarding masculinity.The material in the investigation comprises of five novels published in Sweden 2007.The investigation reveals the complexity in forming masculinities; traditional male values remain mostly intact, but at the same time men must deal with emotions andrelations with women in a world where the male norm often is questioned.
