Our state of emergency is good - is the public library prepared for the future?Our state of emergency is good! These are the words spoken by Prime Minister Per Albin Hansson in 1939. He claimed that Sweden had nothing to fear from a future war, we were safe. Today we know it was not so. Is this the situation for Swedish public library of today? Is the public library ready to face the future, or is it only fancy words?We have to form the future, not let the future form us.

Organisationer är beroende av ledare och medarbetare. I yrken som berör andra människor har kommunikation och bemötande stor betydelse och kräver vissa egenskaper hos personalen. Där möten med andra sker uppstår ibland konflikter. Studien omfattar både en kvalitativ och en kvantitativ del. Syftet med studien var att studera ledare och medarbetares upplevelse och hantering samt konsekvenser som kan uppstå i samband med konflikter.  En intervjustudie med tre ledare och en enkätstudie med 59 medarbetare genomfördes i tre organisationer som har sin verksamhet inom LSS.

Studien syftar till att underso?ka om de ansta?lldas skattning av chefers konflikthanteringsfo?rma?ga kan prediceras baserat pa? chefens emotionsigenka?nningsfo?rma?ga och sja?lvskattade emotionsreglering. Studien genomfo?rdes genom att 32 chefer utfo?rde ett datoriserat emotionsigenka?nningstest (Geneva Multimodal Emotion Portrayal Set) och en emotionsregleringsenka?t (Emotion Regulation Questionnaire). 181 medarbetare till cheferna svarade pa? en webbaserad enka?t ga?llande chefens konflikthanteringsfo?rma?ga (Conflict Resolution Questionnaire).

The purpose of this essay is to analyze the media coverage of the case with Martin Schibbye and Johan Persson in the four biggest newspapers in Sweden in order to see how social constructions is created through the use of language. It is also of interest to see how nationality is represented in the material. The theory is based on Edward Said?s theory of post colonialism and the prejudices that has developed from the western way of viewing ?The orient?. It is also based on Richard Dyers theory on whiteness and binary oppositions, which shows how ?whiteness? is viewed as the norm and is also never questioned.The method is critical linguistics and based on Norman Fairclough and Michael Halliday.

SummaryAt the start of my employment at the Swedish National social insurance office I was a bit confused because there were two categories which I defined as belonging to the same category (working handicapped) but it wasn?t so. The persons I where going to meet was defined as having incapacity to work and therefore, they were defined as not standing to the labour markets conversion. They were defined as being to sick for being at the labour market. The aim of this work is to shed light on what grounds a decision concerning a person which will be categorized as incapable of working and looking at the categorized person?s status.

Samtidighetskonflikt, även känt under den engelska termen concurrency conflict, uppstår när två eller flera processer försöker uppdatera samma information i en databas vid samma tidpunkt. Processen som sparar ändringarna sist blir de ändringar som gäller och på så sätt kan viktigt information försvinna. Det finns flera tillvägagångssätt för att förhindra dessa problem med olika typer av samtidighetskontroller som kan ske i applikationen eller redan på databasnivå via lagrade procedurer.Metoden som används för att undersöka problemområdet har utgått från ett praktiskt arbete med en utökning av en existerande applikation, webbutiken RoyalDesign, skriven i ASP.NET (ASP-dotnet) Web Forms. Utökningen kräver samtidighetskontroll där användaren ska informeras av eventuella konflikter. Undersökningen avser att granska hur samtidighetskontroll implementeras och hanteras i applikationen.

Deliberate self-harm are a growing problem among young people in Sweden. It's not only the child that suffers from the behaviour, even the whole family. Parent´s need the right support from the healthcare staff for their own wellbeing, but also to be able to give good support for their child. Par-ent´s experiences are of importance for the nurse in the healthcare of the child and their families. The aim of this study was to describe parent´s experiences of living with a child with a deliberate self-harm behavior.

Most people would agree that privacy is a civil right, and that we should not be deprived of this civil right for other than legitimate reasons. The difficulty lies instead in how to decide where the legislative boundary should be drawn for the right to privacy, in order to protect the individual from an undue intrusion of his privacy. There are a number of areas where the right to privacy comes in conflict with opposite interests. One of these areas is credit report. In this master thesis the author discusses questions as, what is the meaning of the word privacy, and whether the protection of privacy is sufficient in the legislation concerning credit report? Also a comparative study of the Swedish and the English regulation is performed.

In the beginning of the 19th century, Swedish was the only official language of Finland, and thus the dominating language in administration and higher education. However, during the latter part of the century, efforts were made to develop Finnish into a language which could be used in every part of society. In 1881, the medical society Suomalainen Lääkäriseura Duodecim was founded with the development of a medical terminology in Finnish as one of its main purposes. In 1885, a medical paper, Duodecim, and a medical dictionary were published. The aim of this study is to illuminate the vocabulary of the dictionary.

After the 9/11 attack the United States declared war against terrorism, which launched a conflict between indefinable transnational networks and states. In this war it became clear that the strategies used in traditional wars between states were not sufficient. New strategies have been discussed, but without any concrete results.In this thesis assassinations of terrorist leaders ordered by states is being presented as a possible strategy in the war against terrorism. Assassinations have been used in all times to shift political power but is today not morally accepted. This thesis aims to show that when used under the premisses of the just war theory, the strategy can be equally morally justified as any traditional war.

This essay tries, in different levels, to explain and create a deeper understanding for the phenomena ?private security companies?. By using Mary Kaldors theory about new wars, I will come to the conclusion that the insecurity that these wars create is an important part in understanding the emergence of a security need that these private security companies can provide. Later I investigate and explain howthe neoliberal privatization policy that is spreading through the world today has laid ground for development of the private security industry. When I have answered these questions I analyze how the private security companies can affect the state, war and peace both positively and negatively.

Learning Management Systems (LMSs) hold great potential to support learning activities, for example by providing teachers and students with new and extended spaces for interaction and collaboration. However, this potential appears to be difficult to realize, and despite their perceived learning benefits, the reality is that LMSs are being used primarily for administrative purposes. Meanwhile, external pedagogical tools are successfully put into practice to improve learning outcomes, and the aim of this study is therefore to identify and discuss benefits and disadvantages associated with the LMS as a concept. By interviewing secondary school teachers, we disentangle the idea of integrating administrative and pedagogical aids into a single platform, providing detailed insight into the use of digital tools in secondary education. The study contributes to a deepened understanding of integrated learning environments, and we conclude that there is a conflict between structure and flexibility that needs to be addressed before determining the design of a digital learning space..

The idea that I put forward in this thesis concerns the democratic system and the threat from discoursive impact on its core values. I focus my normative analysis on three of these democratic values: transparency, accountability and influence ? and what democratic problems the discoursive impact causes in conflict with them. I have used a critical discourse theory to define discourse and discoursive impact, by focusing on the process of discourse, rather than its nature. I deal with the political structure where I claim that the essential relation between citizen and politician is disrupted, due to lack of information and the imminent problems of the existing network society.

Denna uppsats handlar om hur vattenbrist kan påverka konflikter. Vi försöker framhäva de bidragande orsakerna till att konflikt uppstår i motsats till samarbete. Med hjälp av teoretiska utgångspunkter diskuterar vi och försöker ge en djupare förståelse för problematiken. Uppsatsen behandlar inte bara vattenbrist utan även till viss del resursknapphet i största allmänhet, eftersom vattenbrist ingår som en komponent i den diskursen.Vi berör de två mest etablerade teorierna, som även är sina motpoler, cornucopianism kontra neo-malthusianism. Respektive teori har specifika svar på hur och vad det är som gör, i det här fallet, vattenbrist, till ett problem.Vår uppsats innehåller en del om statens och det internationella samfundets agerande i problemkomplexet rörande vattenbrist.

On July 22nd 2011, there was a terrorist attack in Norway. First a bomb exploded in the Parliament House, in Oslo; and shortly after that a man shot 69 politically active young people at a camp on the island Utöya. Throughout the weeks to follow, we could read about the victims' stories. They told of tears, fear and heroism. But who got to tell what? The purpose of this study was to see how the Swedish tabloids described the victims from a gender perspective.
