The purpose of the present thesis is to investigate the interaction between the branches in the different villages and its users and the importance of the branches for democracy. To illustrate these points, I have focused on Högsby municipality, a local council in Kalmar county. Högsby municipality is of particular interest in this connection, since all seven of the branches have been closed recently; only the main library remains. Moreover, three of the closed branches were, in 2005, taken over by citizen organizations local to the part of Högsby municipality where the libraries were located. The specific issues that were addressed were:- What needs were satisfied by the local libraries in Högsby council and is it possible to satisfy these needs in other ways and then, how?- Does the absence of a local library affect democracy?Interviews were performed.

Migrationsverket är en myndighet som prövar ansökningar från personer som vill söka skydd, ha medborgarskap, studera eller vill jobba i Sverige. Då det på senare tid varit en stor ökning i dessa ansökningar har tiden för vilket ett beslut tar ökat. Varje typ av ansökning (exempelvis medborgarskap) är en process som består av flera steg. Hur beslutet går igenom dessa steg kallas för flöde. Migrationsverket vill därför öka sin flödeseffektivitet.

Arbetets ansats är öka förståelsen för vad svenska ungdomar möter när de råkat ut för en allvarlig händelse och söker professionell hjälp. Arbetet berör juridisk bakgrund, det sociala arbetets organisation och närvarande faktorer i mötet mellan socialarbetare och klient. Vidare berörs hur individen påverkas av att möta socialarbetare utifrån symbolisk interaktionism och stämplingsteorin. Genom en enkätundersökning undersöks hur stor svenska ungdomars kännedom om tystnadsplikt och anmälningsplikt är och om det finns könsskillnader i denna medvetenhet. Enkätundersökningen utgår framförallt ifrån svensk stad med cirka 30.000 invånare i kommunen.

Swedish healthcare is in continuous need of cost savings and efficiency improvements in order to meet the increased demand for care. The theories of lean, developed from the industry, are applied more frequently on healthcare systems to increase effectiveness and reduce waiting times in patient processes. However, some processes seem to be more successful in their lean implementation than others. In this thesis, factors influencing flow efficiency in lean healthcare are examined. Through interviews with the top executive board at Capio St Göran's hospital, data is collected in order to analyze reasons for success.

Article 5.1 in the Brussels I-Regulation regulates special rules on jurisdiction for contractual disputes. The aims of this thesis are to determine the location as provided under Article 5.1 b), as the place of performance for the obligation in question. The focus of this thesis is the problems that occur when services, according to the contract, are to be performed in several Member States..

This study aims to evaluate the waste management in Norrbottens municipalities in key areas such as possibilities to reach the two national waste goals, information to the public, the effect of legislation, future of waste management and differences in geographic- and demographic areas. The Waste Framework Directive (WFD) issued by the EU and incorporated into Swedish law plays a major part in waste management by defining a hierarchy in five steps how waste should be treated. Interviews conducted with each of the fourteen municipalities aimed to find out what step in the hierarchy they are at and what effect the implementation of EU-legislature into Swedish law has had. Based on the interviews a diverse range of answers was found in relation to the questions asked, generally the more populated municipalities saw a more positive future of waste management, mainly because more developed infrastructure to handle waste is already in place. However the smaller the municipality is the harder it is to allocate resources for waste management and problems arise in the form of expensive transports of waste.

In February 2002 the European commission put forward a proposal for a new directive on The patentability of computer-implemented inventions, but which during my work on this essay has not been decided on yet. The directive has divided the decision-makers in the union, the commission and parliament, into two different positions regarding by which range computer-implemented inventions should be patentable. The parliament has amended the commissions proposal in a substantial way and the legal process has caused a heated debate both within the unions administration and among various interest groups both in favour of and against a patent on computer-implemented inventions. The loudest protests have come from a group that feels threatened by a possible software patent: Open Source. In this study I examine both the arguments by the decision-makers and by the lobbying for and against the proposal.

In Sweden, the County Administration board is responsible for improving the water quality in lakes and watercourses according to the European Union Water Framework Directive. In Västmanland county, where river Lillån is situated, the County Administration of Västmanland have the main responsibility for the aquatic environment in that area. The knowledge about the different watercourses in the chatchment of river Lillån is today limited. The aim with this study was to evaluate the ecological quality of River Lillån based on water chemistry analyses and benthic fauna investigations. The aim was also for the benthic fauna to compere different samplingsites and sampling methods with each other in order to see how the species composition changes in the river, and to see the advantages and disadvantages with different sampling tecniques.

För att göra detta prövas två teorier (Rotbergs kvantitativa och Buzans/Holstis kvalitativa) på fallet Colombia.På grund av att Rotbergs teori har en lägre validitet och inte förklarar vad som ligger bakom staters interna problem, kan Colombias situation mest framgångsrikt förklaras utifrån Buzans/Holstis teori. The starting point must be that as long as no binding agreement between negotiators has been concluded, the negotiators has no obligations towards each other. Swedish Law does, however, recognize that obligations may arise in a pre-contractual phase. Different circumstances may add liability in a pre-contractual phase. This essay is a study about what the presumptions are for the liability in a pre-contractual phase. This essay also deals with what circumstances a party can add when he will claim damages in a pre-contractual phase.

Abstract Co-operation difficulties in the work place can be a problem serious enough. Co-operation difficulties can occur between employee and employer, as well as employees among themselves. Irrespective of between which individuals the co-operation difficulties occur, it will have negative consequences. These can consist of, for example that individuals might suffer mentally, inproductivity and also an unwished economic disadvantage for the employer. From the employers? side it is pointed out that it is important with employees who are possible to co-operate with in a satisfactory way.

To be stuck in their home not knowing if they will have to seek care today and not knowing if they will have the energy to attend that birth- day party later this week.Each year 2-3% of the Swedish population are diagnosed with heart failure, which results in 30,000 new individu- als with the disorder. Cardiovascular disease is rapidly in- creasing in the world and before 2030, people with heart failure will increased by 100%. Our improved living condi- tions and better health have allowed us to grow older and made us more dependent on other types of care, care at home.Today the patients are only looking for changes in weight and if they have excessive water in their body.

The overall aim is to examine how the European Union Water Framework Directive has affected the local water management in the catchment Märstaån situated in the eastern part of the lake Mälaren river basin, Sweden. The first part of the study gives an historical overview of the area with focus on how the old agricultural landscape was handling the nutrient load from farming activities by means of different kinds of wetlands. By using the concept of the procedural landscape, introduced by Torsten Hägerstrand , together with historical maps with dates starting from the 17th century, the pre-modern landscape is analyzed.  The second part is an investigation, based on qualitative data, on how the different actors in the catchment area work together to secure the water quality for the Märstaån river. The analysis shows that the Märstaån catchment river systems are mostly unchanged in the rural areas.  The exception is the mainstream section of the Märstaån river running partly underground today and the Halmsjöbäcken river that is heavily affected by the Arlanda airport situated within the catchment area.

The construction industry is often criticized to be an industry of narrowness and slow of change. The traditional construction process is considered to create gasps of inferior quality, delays and increase of disputes. Meanwhile, productivity is lower compared to other industries and the prices are increasing. In this debate, it has been assumed that the reported figures are monitoring a reflection of reality, but there might be an error in the statistics which suggests that the focus is at the wrong place. A study of the monitoring and the measurements of the results are to consider, instead of spending time and resources on issues and actions The Last Planner System is an executive planning tool which creates a predictable workflow and creating value throughout all the different stages.

A company reconstruction is an alternative procedure, for companies in payment difficulty, to receivership. Those in any kind of relationship with the ailing company ends up in a dif- ficult situation at a company reconstruction, as in any case when someone is in financial difficulties. Not only is there a risk for the providers not to get paid, the costumers are also at risk if the reconstruction company does not fulfil their agreement. These kinds of rela- tionships are controlled by a contractual relationship. Therefore the regulation has to con- tain how to deal with these contracts when the ailing company no longer can fulfil its obli- gations of the contract.
