Impression of reality deals with the subject of wearing a mask. It is an exploration of the idea that we are all playing different roles, on a stage in front of an audience. The aim was to work conceptually with text, photo and video as a way of exploring a subject. The goal was to create and edit the material so it would be interesting for the visitor at the graduation exhibition. The content was created through Experiments based on questions such as the following examples; What is a mask? How can content control form? What is originality? The process resulted in a publication and a video installation with the ambition of highlighting the idea of the world as a theatrical construction.

The aim of this Master?s thesis was to find out more about the delimiting quality- and shelf-life parameters over time for liquid oat-based products. According to that, to present applicable subjective and objective shelf-life test approaches at accelerated conditions. The study aimed to gain a deeper knowledge concerning the general and accepted way of performing accelerated storage tests. This study focused especially on products, which suffer from quality failure caused by oxidation, such as liquid oat-based products.

This master thesis in energy optimization was made during the autumn of 2006 at Käppala wastewater treatment plant in Lidingö, Stockholm. A preceding thesis, where all electricity consumption was mapped, showed that the aeration in the biological treatment is the single largest consumer in the plant, and it is therefore of interest to reduce this cost. The oxygen control strategy used at Käppala WWTP is working well from a nutrient removal point of view, but not from an economic one. The last aerobic zones have a very low oxygen consumption during low loading periods which give rise to enhanced dissolved oxygen concentrations with excessive costs and reduced denitrification as a result. But also during periods of normal loading unnecessary high oxygen concentration are sometimes given.By modifying the aeration control strategy three full-scale Experiments have been made, with the intention to reduce the air consumption.

The prevailing food and energy crisis of the world, due to the declining reserves of fossil energy and a never ending rise of consumption, forces us to look into new fields to supply our energy demand. The boom of bio energy is criticized, as food crops are used to provide biodiesel and ethanol and the volumes are ridiculously small to supply world demand. Algae are one of the world?s oldest life forms and exist in many different phyla, providing a great variety to choose from, for different purposes. Cultivating microalgae offer a way to produce energy at great volumes without competing with food production and at the same time the algae offer a way to use our expensive nutrients in a more efficient way, besides this the algae are carbon dioxide neutral since their carbon source can be supplied by the atmosphere and the additional energy required can be supplied by algal oil or other renewable sources.

During the 19-century a global warming has been observed, which includes increases in global air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of ice and snow, and rising global sea level. There is a clear connection between emissions of greenhouse gases caused by the human and the increase in temperature. Climatic changes caused by global warming can be stopped trough decreased emission of fossil fuels, for example by an increased use of biogas. Biogas is a renewable energy source which is produced through anaerobic (oxygen free) digestion of organic material. The gas is a mixture of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) and can be among others used as fuel in vehicles.

This is a pattern project for textiles, with main purpose to develop and challenge my design process and to experiment with a mix of different printing techniques. The goal of the project was to create three textile individuals as representatives of my Experiments, inspired by natural surfaces.The world of fashion have been an inspiration and has been the model for these textiles, with its powerful and playful patterns. With the world of fashion as a model, I also chose to work with the materials habotai silk and silk velvet. The qualities of these materials has also been influential in my design language.The work has been very focused on experiementation and exploration, and resulted in three printed fabrics that I have chosen to call Björkalm, Lindstam and Lavbädd..

This work describes a series of glasses, both for people withvisual handicap, and the glasses are not only limited for use onlyby people with poor sight.I have, based on the course Senses, done research and lookedinto how to design glasses for visual handicapped people interms of function, look and expression.I have elaborated with several different glasses and performedmany Experiments to come up with my final result, consisting ofa series of glasses.The glasses in the series are made with a weight on one side, onestep on the bottom to get the possibility for the glass to tilt over,which enables you to both hear and see when you have reach acertain amount of substance in the glass.It has also been important for me that the glasses express somethingand get an individual identity.The result became glasses for whiskey, coffee, shots and mullwine..

Oilseed rape constitutes a good break crop within a cereal dominated cropping system. The normal sowing time for winter rape in Sweden is August. It's a time in the cropping year characterized by a heavy work load, such as harvest and soil management. In addition, it is often a period with large precipitation. Thus, it is sometimes problematic for the farmer to do the sowing of winter rape at the optimal time.

Due to higher standards of living around the world, greater industries and larger infrastructures causes an increase of the global energy consumption. This harvest of energy puts a great stress on the global environment. With this development, it becomes increasingly important to utilize energy resources in the best possible way.Fans are components that are often used in the industry and in households. A common problem is that the fan is oversized. An oversized fan causes an excessive flow, which has to be adjusted in order to achieve the correct flow.

Over the past few years the Swedish forestry industry has become increasing interested in direct seeding. Although, in practice, this interest has been restricted to pine seed, the knowledge and techniques that have been developed for pine seeding can readily be transferred to spruce. Direct seeding is a method that is of interest to the forestry industry since it can lead to lower regeneration costs, denser stands and better root development than the more conventional planting method. This study evaluated Experiments that focused on direct seeding of spruce in the northern Sweden. Skogforsk set-up the Experiments in Gideå and Sävar in 2003.

Four different kinds of filter-materials with reactive surfaces have been studied concerning their capacity to absorb heavy metals in leachate from a municipal waste deposit. The heavy metals studied were: lead, cadmium, copper, mercury, chromium, nickel and zinc. The leachate contains high levels of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and has a high pH-value along with a high buffer capacity. These characteristics of the leachate make it difficult to remove pollutants and require efficient filters. The filters that were examined in the report are blast-furnace slag with CaO, sand covered with iron oxides, olivine and nepheline.

The purpose of this thesis has been to determine experimentally how good a peltierelement is to convert waste heat from wood burning. Three different peltier elementswere used in a comparison study. The comparison was mainly done to know howmuch power could be obtained from each element. Even, a circuit with a step-upfunction has been created to give a higher output voltage than the peltier elementitself. The result of the Experiments was a low output power, the highest valuereached 2.18W.

The purpose with this masters thesis was to model the scanner in a system for laser bathymetry. The model was then used to develop a controller for the scanner so a good search pattern was achieved. Two different types of models have been tested, a physical model and a Black Box model of Box Jenkins type. The physical model has been derived from Lagranges equations. Identification Experiments have been used to compute the Black Box model and to find the unknown parameters in the physical model.
