To better understand how various factors affect the establishment of forest and trees around the tree line-ecotone, this study was conducted in Troms County, Norway. The altitude of different forest and tree limits together with the surrounding vegetation type were collected during August 2011. Comparisons of the collected data were made with previously collected data from the same sites conducted 1914 and 1915. On average the forest limit has expanded with 26 meters in altitude, however, an expansion is not statistically significant for the whole area. The tree limit has significantly expanded in altitude.

The aim: was to describe and compare a group of experts and critical care nurses' agreement in detecting delirium in intubated, ventilator treated patients with sedation / analgesia, before and after an in house training intervention with the instrument Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU).Method: A quasi-experimental study, one group pretest - posttest design. A convenience sample of 17 critical care nurses in a general intensive care unit included. To detect delirium the instrument CAM-ICU was used, 21 paired tests before and 22 after an educational intervention.Main Results: The results showed that after an in house training intervention sensitivity and kappa coefficient improved of the characteristic 1 "acute onset and fluctuating course," an improvement that was significant. In other features, and overall values were signs of numerical improvement and deterioration in sensitivity, specificity and kappa coefficient but no significant change.Conclusion: Implementing a new instrument for detecting delirium in clinical practice requires education and follow-up. A small sample of critical care nurses with varying ability to use the new instrument and the fact that patients' status may change rapidly making it difficult to draw any conclusions from this study.

Inbreeding has become a problem in some horse breeds. Studies show that it may lead to inbreeding depression which affects e.g. reproduction traits. In the wild there are mechanisms that make horses avoid mating with close relatives. When selection is done by humans this mechanism is removed and intensive breeding for a few traits, for example good racing results, can become a problem.

 Introduction and research question: In the global media field, global expansion has become more common and is a way for media companies to reach out to a broader audience. Both advantages and disadvantages come with a global expansion and there are several cultural differences that have to be considered. This thesis will deal with the cultural differences and discuss how a Swedish media company efficiently goes about establishing in Vietnam. This leads us to this thesis' research question: How does a Swedish media company succeed in Vietnam? Purpose: This thesis' purpose is to find out what media companies do to successfully acclimate to the Vietnamese culture and the important aspects of the cultural differences to consider.Delimitation: In order to present a thesis with greater depth and acquire a deeper understanding, the study is limited to examine Swedish media companies and what intercultural aspects are important to consider when establishing in Vietnam. Method: The research we have done is based on interviews, which we thought could give us the accurate information and a good base to stand on.

This Master?s thesis is a comparative study of information retrieval results between three distinct search strategies in simulated automatic query expansion in a bibliographic database. Our purpose is to investigate which of the search strategies score the most effective precision and to what extent the same relevant documents are retrieved (overlapped). A thesaurus attached to the database is used to select appropriate descriptors for the baseline query formulations which subsequently are expanded with hierarchical relations. The search strategies are s1: A baseline query with two or three descriptors, s2: The baseline descriptors combined with at least one Narrower Term, s3: The baseline descriptors combined with Narrower Term and at least one Broader Term.

Warmer climate is a driving factor to species expansion northwards. Expansion to new areas can result in escape from natural enemies, resulting in reduced levels of mortality and thereby potentially increasing the rate of expansion. The most important parasitoid species attacking butterfly larvae belong to the families Tachinidae, Ichneumonidae and Braconidae. The aim of this thesis was to investigate parasitism and difference between populations in established area and newly colonized area for the European map butterfly, Araschnia levana, in order to examine if the butterfly has escaped from some natural enemies. In 1982 the first European map butterfly was observed in Sweden and has now established up to middle Småland.

In this report the importance of irrigation scheduling in dry climate is shown, how it can save water and energy; how this method can improve crop yield by supplying the right amount of water at the right time. It is shown how irrigation scheduling and irri-gation technology together increase the irrigation efficiency..

At the moment in central Täby there are small district heating network operated by Fortum Heat. The distribution network has an annual heat demand of about 70 GWh, which is supported by the network's two plants, Galten and Farmen. Täby as a region is rapidly growing and there are grand plans to develop the area. Estimated market potential for a future district heating expansion in Täby is very high and as early as in 2007 Täby decided to invest in a large-scale expansion. In autumn 2009 Täby did a procurement process, known as the ?Täby initiative?, to find a partner that could implement those expansion plans. To secure a cheap basic production the partner also need to build a power plant at Hagby recycling center. Despite high interest during initial state of the process, only one procurement offer were received and Täby suspended the contract in March the following year.

Vårt examensarbete i informatik är utfört på ett producerande företag som expanderat och därför sett behov av att förändra sin organisation. Ägarna upplever att personalplanering och tillverkningsplanering är alltför tidskrävande och de hinner inte med viktiga arbetsuppgifter som marknadsföring och företagsutveckling.Examensarbetet har innefattat teoristudier, en analys av företagets verksamhet samt utformning av förändringsförslag för att förbättra företagets organisation. Våra litteraturstudier har bestått av inläsning av teorier om problem som kan uppstå i expanderande företag samt datainsamling genom intervjuer av företagets ägare och några av de anställda. Detta har legat till grund för den verksamhetsanalys vi genomfört med hjälp av delar ur metoden FA/SIM. Denna analys ligger till grund för de förändringsförslag som har arbetats fram.I analysen har problem som rör följande fyra aktiviteter identifierats.

Ett sätt för banker att behålla kunder i den allt hårdare konkurrensen på den svenska bankmarknaden är att skapa en starkare relation med sina kunder. Ett sätt att skapa en starkare relation är att erbjuda kunder värdefulla ickefinansiella tjänster. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka vilka ickefinansiella tjänster som små- och medelstora företag värdesätter vid en expansion till Baltikum. En fallstudie har gjorts av Swedbank för att undersöka hur en bank idag arbetar med ickefinansiella tjänster och relationsbyggande. Fyra små och medelstora svenska företag med verksamhet i Baltikum har intervjuats för att undersöka vilka tjänster de värdesätter.

En intervjustudie har genomförts på en arbetsförmedling i Sverige, med fyrastycken arbetsförmedlare. Detta i avsikt att få en inblick i deras syn på högskolans expansion och kunna se hur de upplever anpassningenav den kvantitativa ökningen av utbildningar och examenstitlartill arbetsmarknaden. Jag har vidare undersökt hur arbetsförmedlare upplever det att bedöma nyutexaminerade studenter som har gått nyare utbildningar som generella och/eller icke-yrkesrelaterade sådana. Med hjälp av detta har jag fått en inblick i högskolans anpassning och informationsförmedling till arbetsmarknadssfären.Högskolan genomsyras idag av ett större utbildningsutbud än någonsin. fristående kurser och utbildningsprogram erbjuder i högre grad examina inom generella och icke-yrkesrelaterade sådana.

SYFTE: Syftet med uppsatsen är tvåfaldigt: Dels att undersökaoch beskriva rådande förutsättningar på den Österrikiskabankmarknaden och att utifrån dessa insikter peka utplatser för en eventuell expansion och öppnande av nyakontor för SHB Österrike.TILLVÄGAGÅNGSSÄTT: I denna uppsats har en metodtriangulering använts föratt täcka och motverka de svagheter med att baraanvända sig av en metod. Vårt förhållningssätt har varitabduktivt, vilket betyder att vi till viss grad varit öppnaför ny information under processens gång och stundtalsgått tillbaka till teoriavsnittet för att förfina.SLUTSATSER: Sammantaget har vi sett en sund och stabil utvecklingbåde på den österrikiska bankmarknaden och förlandsspecifika makrovariabler de senaste åren, vilkettillsammans ger positiva utsikter för framtiden. Islutsatserna av undersökningen pekar vi ut städerna Linzi regionen Oberösterreich och Graz i regionenSteiermark som potentiella platser för eventuellexpandering och utplacering av SHB:s nästkommandekontor i landet..

I denna uppsats undersöks viktiga framgångsfaktorer vid internationell expansion på tillväxtmarknaderna i centrala Östeuropa. Expansionsprocesserna hos Cramo och Volvo Lastvagnar jämförs med utgångspunkt i ett teoretiskt ramverk där Uppsala-modellen står i centrum, kompletterad med grundläggande teoretiska förutsättningar avseende egna etableringar respektive företagsförvärv samt avseende tillväxtmarknader. This study looks into the possibility, and profitability, of expanding a pilot project that has been put into action at GGP Sweden AB in Tranås, a manufacturing company that produces front mowers. The pilot project is meant to give GGP Sweden AB a more precise control of the flow of goods from their suppliers, and its essence has proven to be quite similar to the Japanese Just-in-Time philosophy.The study has been divided into four separate areas; mapping, supplier selection, supplier evaluation and cost analysis. These areas represent a holistic perspective on the expansion of the pilot project and cover topics varying from methods of finding suitable JIT-suppliers, constructing Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to reviewing costs and assessing profitabilities.In this report, the reader will initially take part in the works of mapping GGP?s manufacturing unit, pilot project and supplier base, which results in a list containing the most suitable suppliers for a Just-in-Time based collaboration. Afterwards, the reader will be led into the area of supplier evaluation, where five KPI?s are created with the purpose of ensuring that GGP will be able to evaluate their suppliers and pilot project in an effective way.
