This diploma work on D-level is made in cooperation with Varnäsföretagen AB in Eskilstuna. The company performs contract manufactured aluminium goods. This work is a continuation on earlier diploma work in Varnäsföretagen AB. Even if the industry process consumes much energy for melting the aluminium goods, they consume a great amount of oil to warm up the building. The purpose of this work is to examine some places in the building and the process to see how much energy it is possible to recycles to the heating system and reduce the costs for heating.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the use and losses of energy in an existing older building. Another purpose was also to look through various options for heating systems with renewable energy in the building. The aim was to reduce the use and losses of energy. The first step was to study the related electricity bills of the building and also perform measurements and calculations of the building envelope and ventilation. The next step was to find out the possible actions for energy saving by performing measurements and calculations.

Stridsfordon 90 är ett militärfordon som BAE Systems Hägglunds i Örnsköldsvik har utvecklat och startades att produceras år 1993. Fordonet vidareutvecklas och tillverkas än idag och på grund av ökade krav på skydd och eldkraft har fordonets tjänstevikt ökat kraftigt. Från den första versionen av fordonet, Mark 1 (ca 23 ton) till senaste versionen Mark 3 (ca 35 ton). Den ökade vikten påverkar en rad av olika komponenter i fordonet och dess prestanda men det är framförallt drivlina och fjädringssystem som påverkas mest. Fordonet har i sin drivlina slutväxlar som växlar ned rotationshastigheten från motorns transmission och överför på så vis ett ökat drivmoment ut till drivhjul och band.

Alnarp?s Healing Garden is a place for rehabilitation as well as an ongoing multidisciplinary scientific research experiment. The garden is built on research results from the disciplines of Landscape architecture, Environmental Psychology and Garden Therapy. In the garden, people diagnosed with burnout syndromes are being rehabilitated. The participants need safe and calm environments which activate their bodies self healing systems. Theories show that water as an element, per se, increases the observer?s preference for an environment.

This report will examine various solar energy technologies in order to decide if they could be applied in the Royal Seaport. The Royal Seaport is a Swedish urban district under development in Stockholm, with the goal of becoming a sustainable district. Two main techniques, solar collectors and solar cells, including sub-categories, are addressed in this report. Another sub-category, a hybrid system, will also be mentioned. The main difference between solar collectors and solar cells is the type of energy produced by the system.

As emission legislations across the world continuously pushes engine development forward,engineers constantly need to come up with and implement fuel saving technologies. During thelast decade, variable cam phasing has become a popular solution to increase gas exchangeefficiency. This configuration is typically mechanically constrained by camshaft limitations, anda solution to circumvent this problem would be to use a different valve actuation principle.One example of this is to use pressurized air controlled by electrical solenoids. Such a systemhas been developed byCargine Engineering and this provides the starting point for this work. Tobe able to operate the valvetrain on an actual engine, a control system is needed.

One of the most common ways to produce heat and electricity in Europe today is by the incineration of waste or combustion of coal. These materials can be very sulfurous and during combustion sulfur dioxide is produced. This is an environmental and health related toxic substance which is why power plants have strict regulations on removing it from the flue gas. Sulfur dioxide is removed from the flue gas by adding a limestone reagent. The sulfur dioxide reacts with the limestone and the synthetic product obtained is ?Flue Gas Desulfurization gypsum?.

The first principle is displacement ventilation in which the air issupplied at low velocity along the floor. The second principle is vertical parallel laminarairflow in which the air is compressed like a piston from ceiling to the floor.A review of literature resulted in the choice of size, design, and scale factor for themodel, as well as choices of ventilation principles and airflows.

Denna siffra förväntas minska i och med ökade energieffektiviseringsåtgärder och installationer av alternativa värmekällor. Det har blivit allt vanligare att både fastighetssektorn och olika miljöklassningssystem fokuserar på att minska mängden inköpt energi och ett sätt att göra detta på är att installera frånluftsvärmepumpar som ett komplement till fastighetens primära uppvärmningssystem. Det kommunalägda bostadsbolaget AB Stångåstaden planerar att utföra detta i flerbostadshus där FTX-system av flera anledningar inte är möjligt att installera. Installationen är aktuell i fastigheter som i dagsläget har frånluftsventilation och självdrag samt är högre än tre våningar.Installationen kommer att påverka den lokala fjärrvärmeleverantören Tekniska verken AB och då även de är kommunalägda finns det ett intresse i att utreda de effekter som frånluftsvärmepumparna kommer att ha på de båda företagen samt på kommunen i stort.

This report focuses on the upper slit. The upper slit is located between the impeller andthe drive unit. The slit design depends on pump type and application. However it isuncertain why the design varies, The purpose of this report is to clarify why the designvaries and to recommend an improved slit design.A research has been done; information was gathered from interviews, but also fromsearching of databases and studies of drawings, reports and documents. The originalpurpose of the slit was to prevent twining around the driveshaft, and prevent dirt fromentering the cooling system.

Efficient energy use in the housing sector is crucial for achieving a sustainable society. The expansion of this sector only represents a fraction of the existing houses, hence it?s within the existing houses the potential for energy savings lie. This potential has been analyzed in order to determine if it?s possible to cut the current energy demand in half.

Denna rapport redovisar ett examensarbete där en hydraulisk tvåflödespump har konstruerats, ritningsdefinierats, tillverkats och provats i testrigg. Syftet med arbetet var att skapa ett komplett produktprogram av tvåflödespumpar. Den primära kundgruppen för pumpen är främst virkeslastbilar. Arbetet har utförts på Parker Pump and Motors i Trollhättan. En ny deplacementsstorlek av en tvåflödes axialkolvpump för lastbilar har tagits fram.
