The starting point of this study is theories of European integration, which are used to formulate different scenarios about the future of the European Union. This is made in regards to the eurocrisis which has intensified the discussion about how to change the construction of the euro to overcome the economic difficulties that has arisen. In this study, four different scenarios are presented: "An updated Europe", "A new Europe", "The death of the euro" and "Goodbye Greece". The first two scenarios takes its starting point in the neofunctionalist theory of European integration and describes how the EU might increase its level of integration in different ways. We can either see a development where the EU tries to improve the implementation of the rules that are meant to coordinate the member states? economic policy, or we might encounter a more advanced integration where fiscal policy competences are transferred to the EU-level.The latter scenarios, however, takes another theory in to account, liberal intergovernmentalism, and describes how the eurozone might be fragmented in different ways due to conflicts of interest between lenders and countries that has to receive loan-packages.

This master?s paper first presents some of the principal theories and concepts developed by the poverty researchers Rowntree, Titmuss, Townsend, Sen and Lister. These theoretical frameworks are then related to two documents from the EU and Sweden concerning combating poverty and social exclusion, bearing on the establishment of the ?Year 2010 against Poverty?. Finally, I discuss the value in practice of these theories and policy documents, as regards reducing poverty in Europe.It has become clear in this investigation that the theories and concepts from earlier research are still relevant to the formulation of contemporary policy programmes, and that earlier research helps us to avoid old traps in fighting poverty.

Ever since the nation-state has existed identity has been a big deal, it is told that identity is a tool needed to be able to receive consensus from the people concerned on a certain matter. As the European Union is continuously shaped and reshaped due to changing geographical borders, as a consequence of new member-states the aim to integrate the Union equally across its surface has not been an easy task to solve. A lack of trust from the inhabitants in the European Union is a fact, and therefore the main duty of the Union has become to rebuild the trust from beginning to end, creating a Union which easily can be identified with. Since the process of national identity relies upon an excluding-including process and the use of the Other, the identification process on an European level has indeed had fierce effects on the inhabitants within and outside the Union.One of many things that this essay aims at showing is how mythmaking has become a way used by the elite in the Union to integrate a European identity, the myths refer back to a Golden Age when Europe was prosperous and in bloom. Among other tools used to integrate and create a European identity we find such as; unity in diversity, a cultural inheritance based on common denominators such as Christianity and Latin traditions, symbols and a European citizenship.

This bachelor essay studies families that have migrated from countries in Europe to Sweden,and their experiences of adapting to new conditions of the Swedish welfare state. Theirexperiences are studied firstly from an institutional point of view, which refers to the family?s experience of adapting family life to Swedish family social policy. Secondly it focuses how the families experience new norms and values connected to Swedish family social policy. The main aim is to seek what problems families migrating to Sweden might be confronted with when adapting to new conditions of the welfare state.

I denna uppsats studeras fransk hållning till europeiskt respektive transatlantiskt säkerhetssamarbeteefter kalla kriget. Analysen görs utifrån ett institutionalistiskt perspektiv där en eventuell växelverkanmellan fransk statsstrategi och EU respektive NATO eftersöks. I den valda metoden delas franskstatsstrategi upp i perioder och jämförs med viktigare fördrag (motsv.) inom NATO respektive EUssäkerhetssamarbete. I studien söks också karaktäristiken på fransk säkerhetspolitiks förhållande tilleuropeiskt säkerhetssamarbete.I studien konstateras att Frankrike varit drivande i utvecklingen av EUs säkerhetssamarbete och attden ömsesidiga påverkan mellan EU och fransk strategi verkar ha tilltagit under det senaste decenniet.Vidare konstateras att framgångsrika initiativ verkar vara beroende av en god relation till Tyskland ellerStorbritannien.Frankrike verkar också ha närmat sig NATO-samarbetet fram till 1997 då närmandena verka haavstannat. Genom det ökade deltagandet verkar dock Frankrike ha högre inflytande över NATO-beslutenän tidigare.

The freedom of establishment is a fundamental right on the internal market which enables companies to take up and pursue activity in other member states, ?host states?, in a non discriminatory way. In situations where a company wishes to use the right to establish in a host state, complications will be discovered since the member states are applying different principles for deciding the nationality of a company. Since the Treaty of the Function of the European Union recognize both principles, and both of the legal areas company law and European international private law lack harmonization regarding companies wishing to perform such a transaction, the situation today brings the possibility that such a company could be covered by the legal system of several member states, or maybe no legal system at all.The Court of Justice of the European Union has through case law contributed to make the scope of the freedom of establishment a little bit clearer but there are still difficulties regarding situations when a company wishes to transfer its seat to another member state with a change of nationality. Today?s measures, for example the SE-company, is not enough to satisfy the companies wishing to transfer their seat to another member state.

This Bachelor thesis deals with the act of the British Labour Party when they recalled a referendum promised by former Prime Minister Tony Blair. Tony Blair promised a referendum on the Constitutional Treaty, but his successor Gordon Brown later recalled it when the Lisbon Treaty succeeded the Constitutional Treaty as the legal foundation of the European Union.The main purpose of this thesis was to with help from various theorethical frameworks explain why the Labour Party decided to do this, even if this decision gave the main opposition party, the Conservative and Unionist Party (the Tories), the chance to heavily critisize the Labour Party, and picture them as traitors.The research questions were:? What are the reasons that the Labour Party went from being a Eurosceptical party, to become more pro-European?? Why did the Labour Party cancel the promised referendum on the new treaty of the European Union?Various answers were found for the first research question. Among the most important was that it was a part of the over all transition which led to the launch of New Labour.The second research question was answered with three explanatory models based on actions of the Labour Party on three arenas; the electoral arena (based on power, this model claims that the Labour Party act as they do because the know the Tories would not act differently if they were in office), the parliamentary arena (based on ideology, this model claims that Labour want the Lisbon Treaty because it has a stronger social dimension than earlier treaties) and the internal arena (based on the problem of identification, this model claims that the Labour Party identifies itself with the British government, and not just the voters, and are afraid of damaging Britain?s influence in the EU and international politics if Britain says ?no? to the Lisbon Treaty)..

I den här studien kommer jag att jämföra läroplanerna för det obligatoriska skolväsendet och förskoleklassen i Sverige och Grekland. Valet av länderna förefaller naturligt eftersom jag är en grekiska som lever i Sverige. Intresset väcktes av diskussioner om en gemensam europeisk arbetsmarknad, vilket var resultat av EU:s intentioner som vi har sett via bland annat bolognaprocessen. Syftet är att kartlägga de lik- och olikheterna som finns mellan de två läroplanerna. Fokus läggs på värdegrund och demokrati.

Analys Handelshamnen, förslag till utveckling av Handelshamnen i Karlskrona är ett examensarbete för en kandidatexamen i Fysisk Planering från Blekinge Tekniska Högskola 2008, skrivet av Jesper Borgström med Anders Törnqvist som handledare. Den 5 december 1679 togs det officiella beslutet att grunda staden Karlskrona och örlogsbasen. 1998 upptogs Karlskrona på UNESCO:s världsarvslista med motivationen: ?Karlskrona är ett utomordentligt väl bevarat exempel på en planerad europeisk örlogsstad, som influerats av äldre anläggningar i andra länder. Karlskrona har i sin tur tjänat som förebild för efterföljande städer med liknande uppgifter.? Research and innovation are areas that have been evolving quickly during recent years. However, it has been difficult for individual countries to make progress on their own. To solve this problem the European union have launched the most expensive research and innovation program to this day. By combining national governments throughout Europe, the EU wants to create cutting edge technology that will strenghten the region and make the union able to compete on a worldwide stage. However, trying to combine national governments has not been easy, the programs struggle with byrocracy and member states of the European union are tentative about supranational institutions. By engaging in the program national governments have been afraid of how this will affect their sovereignty.
