With a base in Ian Manners? theory about Normative Power Europe ? that the European Union is to be seen as a normative power instead of a civilian or military ? this paper seeks to contribute to the discussion about identity by examine the normative elements of the union?s policies towards Russia between 1997 and 2013. Which norms are most important and how does the diffusion look? The findings show that democracy, rule of law and respect of human rights are among the most diffused norms, and this is more than often done by using the Russian interest in economic progress. Over time the European Union has taken on a more critical approach against Russia, while still appreciating their prosperous relation when it comes to trade and energy.

Previous research has found an increased transmission of stock movements in Europe, partly caused by the establishment of institutions as the EU and the EMU. The purpose of this paper is to find the possible impact from the EU and the EMU concerning the evolution of international transmission of stock market movements, on four Scandinavian markets, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The research is based on primary data, existing theories and earlier studies regarding international transmission of stock market movements. The examined method is a VAR (Vector autoregressive model) including a 10x1 vector of variables. Furthermore the tests considered are correlation, granger-causality, variance decomposition and impulse response.

Det övergripande syftet med uppsatsen har varit att analysera och beskriva diskursiva sätt att framställa integrationen av invandrare i den del av den offentliga debatten som förs i svensk massmedia. För att göra detta har jag tagit min teoretiska utgångspunkt i Laclau och Mouffes diskursteoretiska diskursanalys.Integration artikuleras i artiklarna som fullständig likhet, delvis likhet och deltagande samt som ensidig/ömsesidig och total/delvis anpassning. Integration artikuleras vidare som språklig och kulturell integration, som en fråga om arbete, ekonomi och utbildning samt som politik. Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka en skola i Skåne och dess arbete med integration. Ambition är inte att lösa en eventuell integrationsproblematik, utan att belysa komplexiteten som skapar och upprätthåller den. Den centrala frågeställningen för uppsatsen är: vilka motsättningar finns det mellan skolans, kommunens, lärarnas och styrdokumentens intentioner om integration samt på vilka olika sätt artikuleras de?  Målsättningen är även att lyfta fram styrker och visioner som existerar hos de undersökta som eventuellt kan ge avtryck för framtida arbete. Uppsatsen bygger på teorier och tidigare forskning om hur och varför integration bör främjas i skolan samt styrdokumentens intentioner i skolundervisningen. Fallstudien är framtagen genom semistrukturerade intervjuer med utbildningsdirektören i kommunen, rektorn på skolan samt sex stycken utvalda lärare.

This thesis analyses how the European Unions institutions deal with the issue of illegal and harmful content on the Internet in key documents presented during the period 19961999. Particular attention is attached to content where the legal status is determined in relation to the user and to content that is legal, but characterized as harmful and entailing a need for special protective measures. The theoretical and methodological approach draws on discourse theory as formulated by Laclau and Mouffe. The thesis studies how the problem is represented in key documents from the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament, the Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions, with particular regard to the discourse on harmfulness, the child and Europe. The findings are that the overall discourse has shifted focus over time, from an emphasis on the protection of minors toward a more market-oriented discourse stressing the importance of protecting the competitiveness of the European economy.

E-handelskunder vill ha möjlighet att handla snabbt och direkt oavsett tidpunkt eller plats. Därför är integration mellan e-handel och affärssystem viktigt för en lyckad e-handelslösning. Detta känner de flesta företag till och idag är inte tekniken något större problem. Att företag trots detta inte integrerar systemen beror på verksamhetsbaserade orsaker. De stora kostnader som integrationen i initialskedet medför anges också som ett skäl till att systemen inte integreras, kunskap saknas om de långsiktiga vinster som integrationen ger.

The main aim of this study is to examine the development policies of Sweden and the European Union from a postcolonial perspective. Sweden and the European Union are increasingly coming to be viewed as normative powers rather than military powers. So how does the colonial past of the western societies affect the policies of today? Are there any signs of the power structures of the past, and if so, how are these power structures manifested in the development policies of today? Since both Sweden and the European Union have come to be viewed as normative powers they are compared with each other to highlight their similarities and differences. The results of the study shows that both Sweden and the European Union can be seen as carriers of western values and interests.

Since Sweden became a member of the European Union (EU) several constitutional reforms has been taking place. During this time, Sweden has also changed its view on democracy,from a collective to an individual perspective of democracy in the politics. A reasonable hypothesis and the purpose of this essay is to investigate if the Swedish government has beendeveloped towards an Europeanization.The Swedish state audit changed in a pioneering way after the EU- entry, with the formation of Riksrevisionen. Another constitutional change is that the Swedish EU- membership is being instituted in the Swedish constitution. The role of Swedish courts has also changed since the EU- entry.

Idrottens förmåga att bidra med positiva effekter för integration är omdiskuterad.Det finns både de som har stora förhoppningar på idrotten som enintegrationsfrämjare och de som är mer skeptiska när det kommer till idrottens roll iintegrationsprocessen. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att undersöka idrottenspotential att integrera invandrare i samhället samt att undersöka vilka hinder somfinns för att idrott ska fungera integrationsfrämjande. Studien bygger på en analys av12 vetenskapliga artiklar som alla behandlar relationen mellan idrott och integration.Resultatet av denna litteraturstudie visar att idrott kan bidra med positiva effekter förintegration, bland annat genom att erbjuda en mötesplats där relationer kan byggasöver kulturella gränser. Resultaten visar dock även att idrottsrörelsen inte är fri frånde spänningar som finns i samhället i stort och det är därför orimligt att tro att idrottenpå egen hand ska kunna bidra till att människor känner sig integrerade i samhället..

This thesis focuses on the perception of immigration and refugees in the commonEuropean refugee and immigration policy. It identifies different discourses andstudies their development and interrelated power structures.Using the discourse theory of Laclau and Mouffe, documents from theEuropean Council, the Commission, the Justice and Home Affairs Council andParliament debates are analysed. The study is defined in the time span of 1999-2006, i.e. from the European Council's first agreement on developing a commonEuropean asylum system, following the period up till today.Four discourses are distinguished, focusing respectively on rights, security,European Union's needs, and cultural identity. I use Sandra Lavenex theory ofrealism and idealism to analyse one of the main points in the thesis: There is afundamental schism between the one rights-based discourse, focusing on universalhuman rights, and the three sharing a particularistic focus on immigration as asecurity concern.

Sverige blir alltmer mångkulturellt. I dagens samhälle finns det många individer och grupper av olika härkomst. Detta har lett till många diskussioner kring integration samt konflikter mellan olika folkgrupper. Vad kan dessa konflikter mellan de olika folkgrupperna innebära för individernas identitetsskapande? Och hur kan vissa av dessa individers identitet och livsvillkor formas under en integrationsprocess?Denna antologi kommer att behandla identitet ur ett etnicitetsperspektiv.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att få en bild av och förståelseför hur ideella föreningar kan bidra till integration. Detta har skett genom enfallstudie av två olika organisationer och deras verksamhet. Metoden somanvänts är kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer med personal från dessaorganisationer kompletterat med deltagande observation. Analysen har gjortsutifrån Jose Alberto Diaz integrationsteori. Resultaten visar att de ideellaorganisationerna bidrar till integration på flera sätt, främst genomspråkundervisning som fyller en särskild funktion då den till stor del riktasmot grupper som inte kan ta del av kommunens undervisning via SFI.

This thesis is based on thirteen qualitative interviews with civil servants and politicians. The purpose of the study is to research these informants? attitudes towards integration and their reflections about immigrants? lower chances in an ethnically segregated housing and labour market. The theoretical frame of references is based on social constructionism and focuses on including and excluding power structures. The empirical material provides both structural and cultural explanations to immigrants? problems as regards inclusion in Swedish society.

Integration is a concept that is very topical in today's multicultural-cultural society. Integration means that everyone should have the same rights, opportunities and obligations to society, regardless of extraction. What counteract integration is segregation, which implies a distinction between different groups and where there exist an inequality between them. Segregation is widespread in Sweden today and the exclusion that it creates needs to be broken. The aim of this paper is to examine if it is possible to promote integra-tion through physical planning.

This essay is a discourse analysis of the integration politics of the different parties in the Swedish parliament and the non-parliamentary party ?the Swedish Democrats?, as it is presented on their respective web pages. The overall purpose is to problematize and shed a light on how the current discourse(s) about integration are constituted. Also of interest is how these construct our knowledge and experience of the phenomena. We furthermore want to illustrate the social consequences of such discourses on the construction and organization of identities and groups, and, as a result, the courses of action that becomes available.
