Since early civilization, herbal tea has been used as remedies for an abundance of different diseases. Among these herbal remedies, peppermint (Mentha piperita) was used for its effect on bowel related ailments. Even though peppermint was not described until late 17th century, it has been used since 1000 years before Christ by the Egyptians. In present day it is still considered a remedy for stomach pain etcetera, and much of the recent research is concentrated on the positive effects of peppermint on pain and bowel diseases. A large section of the research is also reviewing positive effects of peppermint on cancer, allergy and also on its potential as antibacterial agent.

The Squares Family is a game developed as a learning aid in mathematics. With its graphical representation of the decimal system, the four basic arithmetic operations and positive and negative numbers together with a learning agent as pedagogical approach, the game?s primary purpose is to motivate students in their learning of mathematics. Although the game is strictly based on mathematical rules it attempts to encourage students to play and work with math without experiencing it as mathematics as this is initially not obvious. The game being internationally tested on normal performing students, this project introduced the game to six Swedish students who experience low motivation for and/or difficulties in mathematics.

The purpose of this study was to compare normal electroretinographies (ERGs) from three different canine breeds in order to evaluate if there were any marked similarities or differences between these breeds as to ERG responses. It is known that healthy dogs from different breeds but also dogs within the same breed but in different age categories may have different appearances of their ERG responses. This may be a problem when evaluating if an ERG is normal or not from a dog within a breed not previously examined. Because of this it is important to obtain normal values for each breed and age group in order to be able to use these for later comparisons of ERGs obtained from individuals affected with various retinal diseases. In this study we have chosen to examine dogs within the three breeds: Labrador Retriever (LR), English Springer Spaniel (ESS) and Chinese Crested Dog (CCD). All of these breeds may be affected with hereditary retinal diseases such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). It is possible that ERG-responses vary due to a number of different factors.

The aim of the "Green forest management plans" is to help forest owners to reach the environmental goal of the forestry act. But are they able to do that? Is it possible to plan preservation of species on single estates? How do single-estate-plans differ from a landscape analysis and how can the landscape approach be used in operative planning? This work was initiated to give an answer to these questions. This study was made in a landscape of 4200 ha in Östergötland county, south-eastern Sweden. A lanscape analysis was made and then compared to the Green forest management plans in the same area. The nature conservation areas (areas that were set aside to be managed with environmenatl goals) differed quite a lot between the two alternatives.

The parrot is a common symbol, or even cliché, in Western literature, going all the way back fromancient Greece to the present date, and in many a genre. This study reads the oeuvre of the NobelPrize winner Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) as being closely related to these certain traditions andconnotations of for example religion, satire, and speaking nonsense, in his frequent use of parrotsand their symbolic potentials, in his writing. Furthermore, it is possible to distinguish a movementin Beckett?s use of parrots, from a more or less traditionally use, to one more philosophicallyprofound.Although the parrot graces us with its presence (or at least may be traced) in almost everywork written by Beckett, from the poem ?Whoroscope? (1930) to How It Is (1961), they are onlymentioned sparsely by his interpreters. Therefore, a brief history of the literary tradition of theparrot will be expounded.

Metod: En kombination av kvantitativ och kvalitativ metod har använts. Datainsamling har genomförts i form av intervjuer och dokumentstudier. Uppsatsens forskningsansats har varit abduktiv och deskriptiv. Teoretiskt perspektiv: De teoretiska perspektiv som använts är tagna från Svensk kod för bolagsstyrning, dels den gällande dels den reviderade.

Abstract Essay in political science, C-level, by Patrik Larsson, autumn semester 2007.Tutor: Susan Marton The battle over the agenda-Can media be regarded as an individual political actor? The purpose of this essay is to study to what extent media can be regarded to function as an individual political actor. In other words, do the media have more power over the political agenda than the politicians and do the media influence how the politicians make their decisions. This research is a case study and to be able to complete the intention of this study I have used Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaws theory, the agenda-setting theory. From this theory I have used four aspects to analyse my material which has consisted of editorials from a Swedish newspaper, interpellations and debates that belong to the interpellations. The aspect I have worked with are, how the problem is defined, who is responsible for the problem, what values and which solutions are expressed.  I have used a qualitative text analysis as my methodological approach which means that the results of my study are my interpretation of the material. My conclusions are that the media in this case shouldn?t be regarded as an individual political actor because there is no tendency that shows that the media has influenced the government in their decisions concerning the real-estate tax.

För att överleva i dagens näringslivsklimat krävs en väl anpassad strategi för att hantera alla svårigheter och möjligheter som ett företag ställs inför.Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka den svenska energikoncernen Vattenfalls tillväxtstrategi. Konkret undersöks på vilka sätt företaget avser växa organiskt och genom förvärv, vilka marknader som skall exploateras och vilken typ av produktutveckling som sker. Vidare undersöks svenska statens ägarroll i Vattenfall.För att besvara uppsatsens syfte har vi använt såväl primär- som sekundärdata i form av intervjuer med representanter för både Vattenfall och Svenska staten samt dokumentation i form av rapporter, analyser och direktiv. Denna data har sedan tolkats med hjälp av tillväxtteori avseende både organisk och förvärvsinriktad tillväxt samt agentteori.Från vår data har vi kunnat dra slutsatser kring Vattenfalls strategi där företaget i nuläget står inför en större förändring från att vara inriktade på förvärvsbaserad tillväxt till en kombination där både förvärv och organisk tillväxt ingår. Denna strategi syftar till att fördubbla företagets energiproduktion fram till år 2030 och göra företaget klimatneutralt till år 2050.

Denna uppsats är en empirisk studie som syftar till att öka kunskapen kring möjligheterna att socialisera pojkar med DAMP/ADHD i skolan. I litteraturgenomgången fastställs begreppen DAMP, ADHD och integrering. Dessutom implicerar uppsatsen en bearbetning av styrdokumenten för skola och särskola. För att rikta blicken mot skolan som en kulturbärande institution, en arena där värden och normer kommuniceras, kommer jag att använda mig av den symboliska interaktionismen. Jag kommer att se på skolan som en agent för både kontinuitet och förändring i samhället.

Syfte: Med start år 2009 genomförde den svenska regeringen flera åtgärder för att minska de administrativa kostnaderna för företagen, varpå revisionsplikten för mindre aktiebolag upphörde. Finansieringen för de mindre företagen är en viktig fråga för ekonomisk tillväxt i Sverige, och för att kunna utöka verksamheten krävs kapital. Det vanligaste i Sverige är att all expansion sker med lånade pengar. För dessa företag är det av yttersta vikt att kreditprövningen sker med stor aktsamhet för att undvika framtida förluster. Vi ställer oss därför frågande till hur den frivilliga revisionen påverkar företagets möjligheter till lån och i förlängningen den expansion som är viktig ur ett samhällsekonomiskt perspektiv.

If the company gets a permanent establishment in the other country, the other country can tax the income which is relatable to the company?s permanent establishment.

Den 18 februari i år fick Sverige en negativ reporänta. Ett historiskt ögonblick i Sveriges ekonomiska historia. I detta arbete har vi valt att fokusera på hur den kommersiella fastighetsmarknaden kommer att påverkas av denna händelse. Den kommersiella fastighetsmarknadens rörelse är inte beroende av enbart en variabel utan av flera. Som i sin tur är mer eller mindre beroende av varandra.

Rollen som systemvetare är traditionellt förknippad med utvecklandet av nyttoapplikatio-ner som är till för att stödja processer inom olika organisationer. Den här studien vill un-dersöka om och i så fall hur systemvetare kan bidra i skapandet av ett pedagogiskt och underhållande spel, ett så kallat ?playful learning?-spel, samt hur systemvetaren kan bidra som en medlare under denna process som onekligen innefattar flertalet olika kom-petenser, vilket i sin tur innebär flera olika sätt att kommunicera på. Det finns mycket forskning som beskriver hur krav kan utvinnas och förmedlas i systemvetarens traditio-nella roll men mycket lite om hur systemvetaren bör agera vid utveckling av datorspel. Genom en analys av olika kravspecifikationer och en transkriberingsanalys kan vi redo-göra för en metod som var oss behjälplig i ett specifikt projekt kallat CoDAC.

The law of preferential rights has, since the 70?s, given företagshypotek a high priority after a company has claimed bankruptcy. After the costs concerning the insolvent estate and the liens, företagshypotek has received full refund. The effect has been that the unprioritized creditors often have not recieved any of their claims after the bank have re-cieved theirs. Many countries have during the last decades deviated from this law and in 2003, Sweden decided to take the same path.

Syftet med studien är att förklara en möjlig rotationsplikts inverkan på revisionskvaliteten i Sverige. I dagsläget finns inget krav på revisorsrotation i Sverige, men däremot påverkas svenska bolag av regler som stiftas i andra länder. Dessutom har EU-kommissionen övervägt att införa en ny regel som skall tvinga börsnoterade företag att med jämna mellanrum byta revisor eller revisionsbyrå. Vi har i vår förklaring till ett möjligt rotationskravs effekter på revisionskvaliteten valt att utifrån agentteorin och stewardshipteorin utforma våra hypoteser. Genom att se revisorn som en nyttomaximerande agent kan vi använda agentteorin som en introduktion till den del av teorin som talar för en obligatorisk rotationsplikt.
