As a small and land scarce country, effective waste management is ofoutmost importance in Singapore. In this study the production of biogasthrough anaerobic digestion from the organic fraction of municipal solidwaste (OFMSW) was compared to incineration of the waste. At the momentalmost all of the OFMSW in Singapore is incinerated. Three differentscenarios were compared to the reference scenario (incineration): one with alarge scale biogas plant that can treat half of all OFMSW in Singapore, onewith a medium scale biogas plant about 15 times smaller than the large oneand one with a small scale biogas plant that can treat waste from e.g. ashopping center or a food center.By using life cycle assessment (LCA) the different scenarios were comparedin terms of global warming potential (GWP), acidification, eutrophication,energy use and land use.

Bakgrund och problemformulering: Eftersom allt fler svenska företag väljer att hållbarhetsredovisa, ansåg vi att styrelsens egenskaper spelar en stor roll och ville undersöka hur de olika egenskaperna påverkar hållbarhetsredovisningen i företag.Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka och analysera hur styrelsens egenskaper påverkar hållbarhetsredovisningen. Genom att undersöka och analysera styrelsens egenskaper som innefattar kön, ålder, kulturell mångfald och besittningstid har vi tagit reda på om styrelsens egenskaper påverkar hållbarhetsredovisningen.Metod: Uppsatsen har en deduktiv ansats med ett positivistiskt synsätt för att framställa svar vad gäller våra hypoteser. Datainsamlingen genomfördes genom att vi samlade in och analyserade hållbarhetsredovisningar samt årsredovisningar. Den kvantitativa metoden genomfördes genom att vi undersökte och analyserade 120 företag som befinner sig under Large Cap och Medium Cap och samtliga företag är noterade i Stockholmsbörsen.Teori: Inom hållbarhetsredovisningen finns olika teorier som förklarar företagets hållbara utveckling och hur styrelsens egenskaper påverkar hållbarhetsredovisningen. Vidare ställs fyra hypoteser utifrån intressentteori, legitimitetsteori, institutionell teori, agentteori samt positiv redovisningsteori med syfte att förklara om styrelsens egenskaper påverkar hållbarhetsredovisningen.Analys och slutsats: I analysen prövas våra hypoteser gentemot de statistiska testerna för att se om det förekommer något positivt signifikant samband mellan hypoteserna.

AbstractDrinking water is an important resource on Earth both for humans and animals. Although most of the surface is covered by water only a small quantity is available as drinking water. Our manner of living creates a lot of pollution which has an environmental impact. Groundwater has a protracted turnover time in the soil and it can take many years before the effects of human impact are detected. The Swedish environmental object is ?Good groundwater quality? which aims to provide a safe and sustainable supply of drinking water today and in the future.

AbstractFalu Copper Mine and Sustainable DevelopmentKarl-Markus AnsnaesFalu copper mine was Sweden?s oldest mine industry which lasted for almost a thousand years. Throughout the history its area has been vastly contaminated by sulfur oxide. The contaminations has created the mining area to an environmental risk zone which has the ability to spread out into the Falu River. The river has its connections to the Dal River which is discharging towards its mouth in the Baltic Sea.

Den övergripande målsättningen med denna uppsats är att visa hur GIS kan fungera som stöd i en MKB. För att exemplifiera detta genomförs i denna uppsats en specificerad studie kring flygbullerpåverkade områden vid Malmö-Sturup flygplats. Flyg-bullerkartor erhölls från Luftfartsverket (LFV). Analyser gjordes för olika startriktningar om flygbullrets interferens med bland annat människor, naturvård, kulturmiljö, friluftsliv, fastigheter (egendomar) samt med några tätorters expansionspotential. Jämförelser genomfördes mellan flygplanstyperna McDonell Douglas MD80 och McDonell Douglas DC9.

This is a diploma thesis executed as a part of the examination of the educationalprogram Building engineer ? Construction management at Halmstad University. The aim of the thesis is to compare and evaluate conventional open-cut pipe-laying withhorizontal directional drilling. The thesis includes a comparison of the economic,environmental and time-based aspects of both methods and discusses which factorsthat determine the optimal choice of method.The study is mainly based on previous studies regarding the subject and oninterviews with professionals from the industry.A fictional project with five realistic cases of pipe-laying scenarios was compiled,sent to different companies for calculation, evaluated and compared. Our conclusionregarding when it?s suitable to use which method is entirely dependent on thespecific project.

Examensarbetet beskriver hur det är möjligt att inrätta bostadsbebyggelse i ett sådant område utan att förstöra dess stora värden. Arbetets intention är istället att bostäderna skall integreras i platsens stora värden och därmed göra platsen mer tillgänglig för flera av stadens invånare..
