Introduction/Background: Economic evaluations help decision-makers to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation. Information generated from CEA can support evaluations of a new intervention with current praxis. The evaluations also provide information as to whether an intervention is cost-effective, both in economic terms and in health gains. Objective: The aim of this thesis is to investigate the use of economic evaluations in public health, with a focus on CEA. Use of economic evaluations is regarded as both a method for evaluation and as support for informed decisions.
Avfallsförebyggande arbete i Norrbottens läns kommuner : En studie om kommunal avfallshantering och avfallsdirektivets påverkan
This study aims to evaluate the waste management in Norrbottens municipalities in key areas such as possibilities to reach the two national waste goals, information to the public, the effect of legislation, future of waste management and differences in geographic- and demographic areas. The Waste Framework Directive (WFD) issued by the EU and incorporated into Swedish law plays a major part in waste management by defining a hierarchy in five steps how waste should be treated. Interviews conducted with each of the fourteen municipalities aimed to find out what step in the hierarchy they are at and what effect the implementation of EU-legislature into Swedish law has had. Based on the interviews a diverse range of answers was found in relation to the questions asked, generally the more populated municipalities saw a more positive future of waste management, mainly because more developed infrastructure to handle waste is already in place. However the smaller the municipality is the harder it is to allocate resources for waste management and problems arise in the form of expensive transports of waste.

A performance measurement system can be used as a means to evaluate past performances and to communicate prioritizations. It has also been proposed that a performance measurement system can serve as a method to execute strategies, guide in operational decisions and constitute a tool for making the organization more efficient. Yet one may question if such a system will ever reach this capacity if operating managers do not utilize it as a management tool, but rather treat it as a mere report in the bunch. This paper explores how middle managers in fact apply performance measures and what obstacles there are to integrating them in the management of subunits. Furthermore it serves to investigate whether these managers experience a conflict between how they are expected to use the measures and what they deem possible to adopt.

When an organisation is going through a work of change, it is highly important that both management and employees has a healthy communication in order to make everybody feel involved. It is then important to be observant for both the managements and employees thoughts and ideas.This study has been performed on an upper secondary school which is performing a work of change. The change has divided the employees in three different groups. One, which thinks the change have evolved the organisation to something better. The second group of people means that it is preventing individual development of competence.

The aim of the project is to develop a tool for a management system at the advertising agency ofConfetti. The company has during a longer period of time felt a need of introducing a quality and environmentalsystem but have a lack in resources of knowledge, time and money. Their goal is to have aconcrete documentation which describes their quality policy and the function of the activity.The work has been performed by mapping and analyzing the processes of the company according tothe process model with focus on one pilot process. New routines have been developed and documentedin a management system.Confetti would like their management system to fulfil the ISO-standard so that they eventually inthe future can be certified. Therefore a literature study has been done according to management systemsand standards.
Ledarskapsutbildning inom byggingenjörsprogrammet vid Högskolan i Halmstad
The purpose with this essay is to examine different roles of leadership in the working environment by interviewing ex-students that have taken their degree from Halmstad Högskola and its construction program. How do these ex-students handle to be in a position of power in their everday life and how do they handle decision making? Do they find that the education they have recieved in any way has helped them in regard for leadership or do they rather conclude that further education in the area of leadership would be beneficial? These are the questions that I set out to shed some light over in this essay. This study consists of one part theory and one empirical part. The empirical part was accomplished by interviewing ex-students from Halmstad Högskola and this part was later compiled with relevant theories on the subject which were obtained from books , internet and various databases.The results from the interviews show that the general point of view is that the subjects containing leadership in their education hasn't really helped them.

The purpose of this paper is to get a conception how prioritization and decision making works in technologically advanced companies. We wanted to understand how to administrate models and how to prioritize the best ideas and relate these to technologically advanced companies. How does the company make these decisions and who is responsible?We have chosen to observe TranSiC, a Swedish technologically advanced company that manufacture silicon carbide transistors. They currently have nine employees and mange 10-20 projects simultaneously, but are aiming to expand their business.
Att skapa en digital samling: En kvalitativ studie kring de socialpolitiska faktorerna som rör KB:s val att inte använda DIGSAM i sin digitala verksamhet
This thesis purpose is to investigate the sociopolitical factors and causes that led to why KB chose not to use the criteria and guidelines for their digitization activities are described in DIGSAM. To do this I focused on three research questions;- What factors (internal / external) led to the decision not to use the criteria guidelines for digitization, which is described in the policy document DIGSAM and what arguments and opinions formed the basis for the decision.- What is the Library's digitization activities, the factors, criteria and guidelines governing activity in the current situation? - Will KB's choice not to use DIGSAM as a whole in their digitization activities affect national library's role as a beacon for the Swedish libraries digital work? In what way and why? In order to answer these questions I interviewed three of KB:s librarians who had extensive knowledge of digitization and DIGSAM. I chose to also use a pilotstudy that was conducted at KB in the of spring 2010. The idea was to use this material as a basis to build on.As a theoretical framework, I chose to use a socio-political theory of Ingrid Mason.
Risk Management : - en studie av två organisationers Risk Managementarbete med fokus på miljö
Riskmiljön i dagens samhälle är under ständig förändring och påverkar människan i både privat- och arbetslivet. Det blir allt viktigare för företag och organisationer att arbeta förebyggande mot risker som påverkar säkerhetsfrågor, miljöfrågor och ekonomiska intressen. Ett arbetssätt för att analysera och hantera en verksamhets riskmiljö är Risk Management. Huvudsyftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva och analysera hur Helikopterflottiljen Malmen och Scania AB arbetar med Risk Management med fokus på miljöarbete. Studien bygger på två fallstudier som har utförts genom kvalitativa intervjuer.
Managementrapport
Denna rapport är skriven inom ramen för magisterkursen Management och på uppdrag av HSB Malmö. Rapporten är indelad i tre delar där den första utgör huvuddelen och syftar till att spegla vårt projektarbete på HSB Malmö. I denna delen beskrivs och tolkas HSB Malmö i nuläget, samt presenteras rekommendationer till hur ledningen i framtiden bättre ska kunna skapa organisatoriska förutsättningar för ett strategiskt förändringsarbete. Utifrån vårt syfte och den information som vi samlat in, har vi valt ut ett antal teman som vi anser är mest intressanta och utmanande för HSB Malmö att jobba med i önskan om att nå större framgång i strategiskt förändringsarbete. Dessa teman (medlemsorganisation eller vinstdrivande företag?, kundorientering, kommunikation och information, kompetens, visionsarbete, ledarskap, företagskultur och organisationsstruktur) utgör grunden för den diagnos av situationen på HSB Malmö som vi presenterar i rapporten.
Ambidexterity genom organisatoriska IT-förmågor
Det har länge påvisats fördelar med innovation och effektivisering av verksamheter. Med konceptetambidexterity har ett senare forskningsparadigm försökt förklara hur organisationer lyckas uppnåbåde innovation och effektivisering samtidigt genom att balansera strategiska initiativ.Denna litteraturstudie ämnar att visa vad existerande forskning ger för svar på hur organisationerkan uppnå ambidexterity ur ett IT-management perspektiv. Genom att kombinera litteratur omambidexterity med litteratur om IT-förmågor (IT-baserade organisationsförmågor för att möjliggörastrategi och initiativ) ger denna studie en bild av vad existerande litteratur kan ge svar på och vadsom saknas.Studien påvisar många likheter mellan de förutsättningar som beskrivs för att uppnå ambidexterityoch IT-management som organisationsförmåga. Däremot existerar en avsaknad av djupareförklaringar vad gäller de komponenter som IT-management som organisationsförmåga innefattar..

The purpose of this thesis is to develop a total cost model for container transports and create a tool that calculates a suitable transport quantity from an economic view, which fulfills the demands on delivery service. To achieve this purpose the following questions will be answered:Which costs are affected by the decision between the two transport alternatives LCL and FCL? How does the decision of sending product LCL or FCL influence the delivery service? How can a tool be constructed to simplify the decision-making process regarding the choice of sending products LCL or FCL? Method ? A total cost model was developed. This model is supported from existing literature.
INDIREKTA FÖREBILDER BLAND TWEENS ? Modespridning med hjälp av celebriteter
I uppsatsen utreds indirekta förebilders påverkan på svenska förtonåringars modeval av kläder och skor. Mycket av den forskning som gjorts tidigare berör andra marknader än den svenska och andra produkter än kläder varför vi anser vårt valda område tämligen outforskat. Vi redogör i uppsatsen för teorier som behandlar modespridning, barnens roll som konsumenter, kommunikation, varumärken, referensgrupper, self-concept, symbolisk konsumtion och familjens beslutsroller. Resultatet från de kvalitativa intervjuer som vi genomfört med pojkar och flickor i åldern tio till tolv år redovisas. Slutsatserna är att förtonåringarna har ett uttalat idolskap från i första hand sportvärlden och i andra hand musikbranschen.

Intranät och dokumenthantering vid ett mindre till medelstort företag En fallstudie
The aim of this masters thesis is to learn how an organization has solved its information management via intranet and document management. The purpose is to identify what different types of information are made available via an intranet, how this information is structured and what functions the intranet includes. Conventions, directions and advice about intranets and document management were studied, with the purpose to compare whether the systems of the company correlate with these. Other issues considered in the thesis, are how the employees of the organization use the intranet and how the document management is organized. To get an understanding of these questions the structure and functions of the intranet were studied empirically and a questionnaire on what the employees need and use, concerning the intranet, was sent out to 130 employees.
