Title: Creativity and blockings: Non-musicians? experiences of music making The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the ability of music-making can benefit from and/or be inhibited by extra-musical factors, such as one's own or other people's opinions, criticism, prejudice and values. An experiment was carried out, where 10 nonmusicians were instructed to solve a compositional problem (writing pieces of music to a picture) which had been expressed in two different ways, one of which (A) was intended to block creativity and the other (B) to facilitate the creative process. All subjects also had to answer a questionnaire, where their experiences in connection with the task and their attitudes towards music and composition were mapped. The result was that all subjects succeeded in composing one or more pieces of music, regardless of which instruction they had been given.

This master?s thesis deals with integrating simulations using Agilents Electronic Design Automation tool ADS with customized Matlab scripts, for solving complex analog and digital radio architectures. In particular, it addresses predistortion, realized in the digital domain, of power amplifiers, modeled in the analog domain. The former is implemented in Matlab while the latter is implemented in ADS. Two versions of integrating the two systems have been tested: 1) Iterative approach on sample basis and 2) Scheduled batch solution by matrix inversion.

This is a final thesis for the Master?s Programme in Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Landscape Planning, Horticulture and Agricultural Science. The subject of the thesis is the outdoor environment of children in Hebron.The thesis aim is to investigate children?s basic needs and desires in their outdoor environment, and how these can be met in the design of a site in Hebron. A starting point for thesis is that children?s environments in the city should not be separated from city life in general, so that children and adults can meet in the city outdoor environment.The ongoing political conflict between Israel and Palestine is presented in the thesis by describing its consequences for the city of Hebron and the lives of its residents, with a particular focus on the everyday lives of Hebron children.

Objective: In this thesis, we assume that the organizations' interests are governing their behavior/positions. It seems possible to draw conclusions about organizations'interests on the basis of the behavior / positions that will appear in the givenopinions on Swedish Public Investigations. The purpose of this thesis is toidentify self-interests of the studied organizations as they appear in their givenopinions.Method: The authors have made a qualitative and quantitative study of the opinions.Theoretical perspective: The basis of the study is the organization theories that focus the self-interest oforganizations.Empiric: Information is taken from four Swedish Public Investigations: the New Company Act, International Accounting for Swedish companies, Abolition of the audit requirement for small and medium sized enterprise and Simplified accounting. Altogether 310 opinions have been given on these, out of which we have studied 59. Furthermore, we have collected information on tasks, activities and objectives from the websites of the opinion giving organizations.Conclusions: In the literature, we found, as mentioned, that organizations havet hree self- interests which we define as general self-interests.

Kandidatarbetet syftar till att rita en tillbyggnad till Nationalmuseum i Stockholm. Museets nuvarande lokaler ska inom en snar framtid omorganiseras, de verksamheter (konservering, forskning, adminstration etc) som idag är förlagda till huvudbyggnaden ska placeras i en tillbyggnad. Den nuvarande tillbyggnaden (annexet) ska rivas. Tillbyggnaden i detta kandidatprojekt, är placerad på Nationalmuseums baksida. En mindre huskropp i fyra våningar agerar huvudsakligt fasadmotiv och innehåller lastintag och entré på gatuplan, studiesal och referensbibliotek på plan 2 och kontor på plan 3 och 4.

Volvo Personvagnar är ett av de starkaste varumärkena i bilindustrin, med en lång och stolt historia av världsledande innovationer. Fabriken i Skövde tillverkar motorer i både bensin- och dieselvarianter. I framtiden planerar Volvo att införa nya typer av motorer med gruppnamnet VEA, Volvo Environmental Architecture. Dessa nya motorer kommer att vara standard i alla nya Volvobilar, men tillverkning av de gamla modellerna kommer att finnas kvar För att förstå hur de nya transportsystemen i fabriken kommer att fungera tillsammans med de gamla transportsystemen och för att veta om de transportsystemen kan hantera framtidens krav krävs en simuleringsmodell.Under våren 2011 gjordes ett liknande projekt, då en simuleringsmodell av transportsystemen skapades. Men eftersom modellen var för komplicerad och krävde mycket simuleringstid beslutades att en ny modell ska byggas för att kunna hantera optimering.Det finns tre huvudsakliga transportsystem, automatiskt styrda fordon (AGV), elektrisk hängbana (EHB) och manuella transporter med truckar.

Den forskningsgrupp som vid Högskolan i Skövde bedriver forskning om neurala nätverk, har nyligen köpt in en ny beräkningsmaskin, dedikerad för simuleringar av dessa neurala nätverk. Maskinen är en Sun Enterprise 4000, en MIMD-maskin med 6 st UltraSparc CPUer.Det finns behov av nya verktyg, som underlättar utveckling av ANN modeller till denna maskin, och som dessutom utnyttjar maskinens parallellitet. Detta verktyg ska uppvisa så god prestanda som möjligt. I denna rapport studeras förutsättningarna för ett sådant verktyg.Av de tänkbara metoder som kan användas för att parallellisera en nätverksimulator, är troligtvis epokbaserad parallellisering den som ger högst prestandaökning på en MIMD-maskin. Detta beror på att den inte kräver lika täta synkroniseringar som exempelvis en neuronbaserad parallellisering.En implementation av den epokbaserade metoden har skett, både med och utan parallelliserad summering av viktförändringar.

Title: The lost song. A study of a reconstruction process. I was asked by the daughter of the Swedish composer Svea Welander (1898 1985) for help to reconstruct a now lost song for voice and piano originally composed by her mother, where the melody of the song was used in the second movement of her first string quartett. The song was composed in 1955, words by Wilhelm Ekelund. My aim has been to describe the process of reconstructing the song.

In a web environment the library and the librarian continue to function in their role as information provider even when the physical library is closed. Research question is to describe how and in what extent the public libraries websites are integrated in their daily activity and what the causes are for that. The empirical material consists of a survey of number of public libraries websites and qualitative interviews with responsible librarians. I have delimited the study by only investigating the websites of Gothenburg public libraries. In my survey of the websites I have studied four spheres; Services, Contact, Structure and General viewpoints.

Danmarksplass is situated just outside the centre of the city of Bergen on the Norwegian west coast. It was built in the 1930´s as a result of an architecture competition won by the prominent Norwegian architect Ole Landmark. Danmarksplass was originally meant to function as a local square, but its location next to Fjösangerveien, a road that caters for most of the through traffic in the Bergen valley today and is part of one of the main European roads, E39, would prove it difficult for that idea to prevail. Along with the ever increasing car traffic, Danmarksplass has more and more become a very busy traffic junction. Nowadays the car is the sole ruler of Danmarksplass.

Composers? and choreographers? world of ideas. Aspects of the art process. This inquiry is about the artistic process when composing contemporary music and choreographing modern dance. I have studied three composers? and three choreographers? thoughts about the artistic process and the work that leads to a piece of music or a dance.

What attribute affects salience on a political agenda? How come some reforms are implemented while others are not? These are essential and central questions for our society. Our society, our democracy and our everyday life are dependent of these factors; communication is the condition. In the 2011 budget from the Swedish conservative government, the question of lowering the VAT on restaurant- and catering services was the single most debated reform. This was occasioned from 2009 when the European Union allowed, for the first time since Swedish entry in 2005, a lower VAT on restaurant services.

Urban density is not new, but rather one side of the continous processes of change underway in the city. During the urbanizing boom of the industrialization, when the cities grew bigger, the first spaces to be built on were vacant and planted areas in the interior of the district. The gardens that once were there were replaced by yardhouses. The idea of urban density is that a dense city means less distance between residential areas and workplaces, resulting in fewer shipments and travelers, which ultimately leads to lower energy consumption and lower emissions. Urban density may lead to shorter distances, but not necessarily. In the wake of urban density the greenstructures of the city is shattered. The possibilities for green areas to contribute to the health of the city and its inhabitants is dramatically reduced.

This report is an outcome of a master degree project at Linköpings University in co-operation with Micronic Laser Systems AB. The purpose with this master degree project was to investigate how to implement a receiver in a data transfer system. The system consists of several data channels, where every channel consists of three parts: driver, transmission lines and receiver. The driver send low amplitude differential signals via the transmission lines to the receiver that amplifies and converts it to a single-ended signal. The receiver has to be fast and be able to feed an output signal with high voltage swing.

Under hösten 2003 skrev jag tillsammans med en annan student vid Lunds universitet en C-uppsats om hur långtidsarbetslösa upplever sin situation. I denna uppsats nystar jag vidare på denna tråd för att undersöka några arbetslösas upplevelser av sina behov av stöd och hjälp som arbetssökande och sätta detta i relation till deras upplevelse av de arbetsmarknadspolitiska åtgärder de möter och intentionerna bakom dessa åtgärder.För att närma mig en förståelse angående detta har jag utgått från arbets- och utvecklingscentra som idag arbetar för att slussa arbetslösa personer genom rådgivning och praktik till arbete.Då jag är intresserad av att lyfta fram arbetslösas beskrivningar och önskemål vad gäller arbetsmarknadsåtgärder har en kvalitativ studie utförts. Åtta djupintervjuer har genomförts, sex med arbetslösa personer inskrivna på arbets- och utvecklingscentra, resterande två med tjänstemän som arbetar med arbetsmarknadsfrågor. Utifrån utarbetat material har analysen delats upp i olika teman. Det teoretiska perspektiv som anlagts på denna studie är hämtat i Göran Ahrnes teori om vardagsverklighet och struktur, nätverksmodellen så som den beskrivits av Marianne Liedholm och Göran Lindberg, samt två processer presenterade av Bengt Furåker; dekommodifiering och rekommodifiering.Arbetet med att skapa program och förberedande insatser för individer som står utanför arbetsmarknaden är en process som hela tiden står under förändring.
