The purpose of this thesis is to research public librarians view ofthe public library as a meeting place and how it may contribute tofacilitate social integration. To study this we have asked thefollowing research questions: How do public librarians work withthe public library as a meeting place? And how do they contributeconditions for ?soft inclusion??The method we have used for this study is semi-structuredinterviews. Seven public librarians from the Gothenburg areawere interviewed and the empirical material was analyzed usingqualitative content analysis.As a theoretical foundation we have used Dorte Skot-Hansensmodel of the public library as a third place and Mikael Stigendalstheory on social inclusion. Furthermore have we used research onthe public library as a meeting place and social integration as acomplement to the model and the theory.Conclusions from the material gathered is that public librarianssee the public library as a meeting place with potential tocontribute to integrating individuals and groups with one another.The librarians? foremost method was to attract visitors withactivities aimed at certain target groups.

Vi har i denna studie undersökt om estetiska arbetsmetoder fungerar som ett sätt att främja socialisation och integration samt stärka självkänsla och identitet. Som en teoretisk bakgrund har vi skrivit om vad olika forskare och lärare samt läroplanerna anser om estetiska arbetsmetoder och vilka effekter dessa har för människor. Vi har därefter tagit upp ämnena socialisation och identitet ur olika synvinklar. I resultatdelen har vi beskrivit några olika projekt som arbetar med estetiska arbetsmetoder för människor med rötter i andra länder och kulturer. Förutom att studera litteratur har vi genomfört observationer och intervjuer på några olika projekt och föreningar som arbetar med integration på olika sätt.

Företag använder sig av olika informationssystem, och allt oftare av molntjänster anpassade för enskilda affärsområden. Möjligheten att använda sig av olika leverantörer för olika moduler ställer högre krav på integration. Ett produktionssystem måste kunna kommunicera med företagets faktureringssystem. Bristande flexibilitet kan försvåra företags möjligheter att använda sig av den modul som är bäst lämpad till uppgiften. Dyr och komplicerad integration kan potentiellt göra det svårt att använda sig av olika leverantörer.

Citizens? interaction with governments is an area with unique implications for channel management. Governments need to take the citizens perspective into further consideration in order to be successful in delivering high-quality e-services. This paper aims to determine if a categorization of citizen-initiated contacts from a citizen-centric perspective can be a valuable basis for decisions regarding e-service development. The study consisted of three steps.

Vattenavvisning och smutsavvisning är två egenskaper hos textila produkter som idag eftertraktas av konsumenter. En ämnesgrupp som är direkt relaterad till ovan nämnda egenskaper är fluorkarboner. Ibland förs fluorkarboner på en redan färdigtillverkad textilvara genom impregnering, laminering eller beläggning. Polymeren PTFE, polytetrafluoreten, används inom textil beläggning och som huvudkomponent i membran för att skydda textiler från vatten och smuts. Syftet med detta arbete var att undersöka om någon effekt av vatten- och smutsavvisning kan uppvisas vid integration av PTFE-fiber i polyester- eller viskosgarn.

The purpose of this qualitative study has been; how social bonds are interlaced between thesocial worlds contained within the analytical division of ?outside Internet? and ?withinInternet?. What happens with the social bond as the individual oscillate between this analyticbisection? This purpose raises important questions of the use of Internet in everyday life.A new stance is taken toward studying the Internets integration into everyday life. Boendesegregationen i våra svenska städer är ett problem som ökar. Den fysiska planeringen är en faktor som påverkar hur väl stadsdelar är fysiskt integrerade med varandra. Olika planeringsideal leder till skilda typer av fysiska strukturer, och i stadsbyggnadsprojekt finns idag visioner om att koppla samman fysiskt och socialt segregerade stadsdelar med den nya strukturen. Målet är att bidra till en ökad integration, såväl fysiskt som socialt. Syftet med arbetet har varit att studera två sådana aktuella projekt, H+ i Helsingborg och Hyllie i Malmö, för att se vilka fysiska strukturer och arbetssätt som förordas och vad de ser för möjligheter och begränsningar att genomföra visionerna. En diskursanalys med visionsdokument och intervjuer med projektdeltagare som grund genomfördes, för att se på vilket sätt det talas om att den fysiska planeringen kan bidra till integration.

The conflict over Western Sahara is primarily a conflict over sovereignty, with Morocco on one side claiming territorial rights, and the Polisario Front on the other side claiming popular sovereignty. The conflict has till this day not been resolved and is in a dire need of a solution. In order to determine which solution is the most appropriate, an understanding of all the complex aspects of the conflict is required. In this context, the study aims to examine the conflict in a globalized setting by analyzing how the American news agency AP News portrays the conflict. The US media conglomerate was specifically chosen due to its dominance over international information flows.

The purpose of this thesis was to study how an internationalization process to China may appear for a small Swedish enterprise and to identify important factors that may be essential for the process. The focus extends from the point where the enterprise makes its first connection with China up to the point where they are well established. Their business is up and running and they have begun production. To gain a deeper understanding of the subject a gathering of existing theory and research articles was conducted. The gathering of theory yielded knowledge of different approaches and methods that can be used to implement internationalization and provided a greater understanding of cultural and regional differences in China compared to Sweden.

Given the current geopolitical situation in Europe and the upcoming election for the European Parliament, it is important to further analyse individuals? attitudes towards European integration, specifically the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). This analysis aims to gain a deeper understanding of individuals attitude towards CSDP. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyse which factors that plays a leading role in influencing individuals? attitude towards CSDP.

The objective of this study was to explore the mechanisms controlling elderly people's choice of staying in there own home.The main questions were: What makes some people move to retirement homes while some people stay in their own home? What is the emotional relation to housing for people in general and elderly people in particular? How does the assessment of aid and application of the law affect elderly people's possibility to choose their way of living? What mechanisms during the twentieth century have controlled the society's way of looking on elderly people's housing? What future scenarios can we expect concerning elderly people's housing?Our method consisted of a literature study combined with qualitative interviews.The authors found a complex picture concerning elderly people's relationship to their housing and the will, wishes and possibilities to move to a retirement home or stay in their own home. One factor that affects elderly people's will to move is a deteriorated health. Another is the increased need of a safe living and access to personnel at all time. Also the assessment of aid and application of the law affect elderly people's possibility to stay at home or to move to a retirement home.

The invisible entrepreneurship is a study of owners of businesses with foreign heritage. It describes the unexplored relationship between ethnicity and class within this group of entrepreneurs.The result of the study is a model which I have found to be suitable to use when depicting the relationship between the ethnic profile and class. The model indicates that the importance of ethnicity decreases as both the owner of, and the business reach a more prominent class. The method of collecting data has been interviews with owners of businesses and Grounded theory has been used to analyse this data. Theories on ethnicity, owners of businesses with foreign heritage, and class in relation to ethnicity have been discussed on the basis of social constructivism.

C3LOOPS is an application for DJs and VJs based on surface interaction. A system is said to be based on surface interaction if it presents content on a two dimensional, endless surface that a user navigates through zoom, pan and incremental text filtering where processing is tightly coupled with the content without breaking the workflow. C3LOOPS is designed to encourage improvisation and collaboration. During improvisation changes occur rapidly. Allowing navigation through time as well as the two spatial dimensions of an interaction surface the possibility of unlimited undo operations opens up.

Den svenska integrationspolitiken har som mål att verka för ett samhälle där alla människor har samma villkor och möjligheter. Trots detta har Sverige blivit ett alltmer segregerat samhälle där en stor del av befolkningen lever i utanförskap. Orsaken till den här utvecklingen har inom integrationspolitiken i stor utsträckning debatterats av ?experter?, medan de som drabbas av utanförskapet sällan får göra sina röster hörda. Syftet med studien är att lyfta fram röster från människor som befinner sig långt ifrån den plats i samhället där integrationspolitiken utformas samt att reflektera kring det sociala arbetets möjligheter att motverka utanförskap och marginalisering.

The primary purpose of this thesis is to investigate the operation of membership criteria, which are applied against countries that wish to join the European Union (EU). More specifically, the importance of some criteria in comparison to others is considered. To answer this proposal, three questions are posed: What are the EU membership criteria? Are some criteria more important than other criteria? Does the EU treat candidate countries differently in applying the membership criteria? Three countries are used in this analysis, each country representing one recent enlargement round: Poland (2004), Romania (2007), and current candidate country Turkey. Both official documents, such as EU treaties, and unofficial documents such as statements from EU leaders are used to analyze the application of membership criteria.
