The purpose of this thesis is to examine how the Elderly people experience the food on a sheltered accommodation. We will examine nutrition in the food and if the Elderly people have an influence on food they gets everyday. The aim of this study was to examine older persons? everyday experiences of food within the context of homes for the Elderly. More specifically, nutrition and the personal experiences of influence concerning choice of food were examined.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the relationship between the Elderly at a retirement home and their professional caretakers with focus on the perspective of the Elderly. Chosen method, a qualitative interview analysis has been conducted to describe how the relationship affects the Elderly in their everyday lives. The total amount of interviews were four. The relationship between the Elderly and their professional caretakers has rarely been examined in previous research from an elder?s perspective.The results indicate that the Elderly often are satisfied with the way the professional caretakers treat them.

Sexualitet bland äldre - En litteraturstudie som belyser äldres behov av sexualitet

The aim of this literature review was to put together scientific knowledge about the need of sexuality among Elderly people, so that the nurse in the future can use this knowledge in nursing. The research questions that will be answered are: In what extent do Elderly people have the need to experience sexuality? In what extent do Elderly people have the possibility to practice their sexuality? In what degree do the nursing staff respect and understand Elderly people's need of sexuality? How can nursing staff support Elderly people in their sexuality? The method used to answer the research questions was analysis and interpretation of ten scientific articles. The results, which are presented within ten categories, shows that Elderly people have a need of sexuality. Loneliness, lack of privacy and knowledge and attitudes are factors that affect Elderly people's possibility to express their sexuality.

The purpose of this study has been to examine how Elderly people in today?s society look upon themselves and experience their own aging. We have inquired answers to the following main questions: What main events during the life course are emphasized in the Elderly?s stories about their lives, and in what way has it affected their experience of growing old? In what way have social relationships, interests and the experience of health changed during the life course? How do the Elderly experience their own aging, and what emotions are expressed in the speech surrounding their life course? The results of the study have been analyzed and interpreted with the help of the life course theory, Erikson?s psychosocial development theory and the continuity theory. The results show that Elderly people of today don?t feel their age.

Studies show that 10-15 percent of Sweden's population, 65 years or older are estimated to have depression or depression symptoms. The symptoms of depression among Elderly people are less than symptoms of young people. This could cause that Elderly people with depression are not always discovered. Studies show that Elderly people who live in residential homes show more signs of depression than Elderly people living at home. If Elderly people live in a supporting environment, can it prevent that a depression developed.The prevention of depression among Elderly people is a topic that is not discussed among previously research.

Trygg med trygghetslarm? : en kvalitativ studie av några ålderspensionärers erfarenheter och upplevelser av trygghetslarm

The purpose of this study was to depict some Elderly people?s experiences of personal safety alarms. Furthermore, the aim was to look into whether there is any difference in experience between men and women and depending on their level of care. Using a qualitative method, semi-structured interviews were carried out with eight Elderly people; six women and two men. The main questions of the study were: How do the Elderly people experience the practical use of personal safety alarms? In what ways, if any, do the Elderly people experience that the personal safety alarm has changed their daily life? In what ways do the Elderly people experience that the personal safety alarm effects their ability to stay in their own home? A cognitive perspective was mainly used to analyze the results.

Benzodiazepines are drugs used to treat insomnia and anxiety. This group of drugs should be prescribed with the duty of care to the Elderly because of it´s negative effects. Life expectancy is increasing because of the progress of drug development. Aging brings physical and psychological changes leading to changes in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic features. Drug treatment is becoming increasingly widespread and contributes to the increasing number of interactions and complications for the Elderly.

Introduction: The population of Sweden has during the last century doubled. An increased live expectancy results in an older population and the share needing medical care increases. Demographic and political changes in developed counties have resulted in changed demands on the care of the Elderly. The Elderly are discharged from hospital earlier and this results a significant responsibility on the Elderly themselves and their relatives. Often the relatives are engaged in the Elderly?s health problems, care needs and the future consequences the current situation results in for the Elderly and the domestic life.

Background The usage of Nutrition supplement in the Elderly care is commonly occurring and plays an important role in the intake of nutrition for the Elderly. The usage of nutrition supplement is to reduce malnutrition within Elderly care. For the Elderly it is crucial to keep a healthy diet and to never lose weight. The loss of weight can be very dangerous it could even be fatal for the aged and should therefore be avoided. To have a diet that is rich in energy such as enriched meals prevents the Elderly from receiving a shortage of calories since the diet is rich in fat, protein and thus also rich in energy.
