The aim of this paper is to map and analyze what role Swede's played in King Leopold II's colony in the former Congo Free State. Letters and messages that arrived at the Congo Consulate in Sweden between 1895 and 1906 have been used as the paper's primary sources. Application letters from 32 different Swedes, seeking to join the Congo Free State Army, to the General Consul of the Congo Consulate, Hans Hugold von Schwerin, have been used as primary sources, and constitute the basis of the paper's analysis. The letters arrived at the Congo Consulate in Sweden between 1895 and 1906. The applicants were all men of different social classes, and were between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. Their chief reasons for applying were primarily for own financial gain or because they did not get a chance to serve in the Swedish army.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att belysa hur rekryterare inom den privata sektorn ser på moderskapet inför en rekrytering. Frågeställningarna i studien handlar om hur rekryterarna uppfattar moderskapet när de skall anställa, vilken påverkan moderskapet har i rekryteringssammanhang samt rekryterarnas bild av hur idealarbetaren ser ut. Det empiriska materialet består av intervjuer med fem rekryterare som är yrkesverksamma inom den privata sektorn. I studien framkom det att mödrar ses som den primära vårdtagaren av barn. Där de bidragande orsakerna till detta dels var en ekonomisk faktor där män anses tjäna bättre än kvinnor, men där även de traditionella könsrollerna ansågs som en bidragande faktor..

In a multicultural society such as Sweden opposition between different ethnical groups can be hard to avoid. In the educational arena there is legislation and there are guidelines that aim to avert any kind of xenophobia directed at individuals or groups. As teachers occupy the end point of the educational chain the execution of these guidelines is for the most part left up to them.This paper aims to study how teachers handle situations where xenophobia is present and if so how they work preemptively against it. It also takes a closer look into the notion of professionalism within the teacher force with the aim of trying to answer whether teachers reach the requirements of professionalism. To do so we apply Gunnar Berg?s definition of the term 'professionalism' together with other scholars' thoughts on the subject.

On the 1st April 2006 a new legislation came into effect in Sweden; The ProhibitingDiscrimination and Other Degrading Treatment of Children and Pupils Act (2006:67). TheAct is applicable to education and other activities referred to in the Education Act(1985:1100). This dissertation aims to examine how teachers work to combatdiscrimination, and establishes whether headmasters and teachers have changed their work procedures since the law came into force.In order to seek the answers to my questions I have conducted 8 qualitative interviews with headmasters and teachers from two schools in a community outside Karlstad, with both schools comprising of students from pre-school until year 6.Discrimination is not a new phenomenon in schools, but neither is the fact that it is theschools? responsibility to work against discrimination. Discrimination is still taking place,despite discrimination laws being clearly stated within the Education Act (1985:1100) andthe school curriculum.

På senare år har den finansiella marknaden vuxit enormt mycket. I samband med värdepappershandel utsätts banker och andra finansiella aktörer för risker. För att få en kontroll på lönsamheten och inte utsättas för likviditetsproblem, har insikt om riskkontroller förbättrats. Value at Risk (VaR) är ett mycket erkänt och användbart mått vid riskmätningar. VaR definieras som ?den med viss sannolikhet förväntade förlusten från ogynnsamma marknadsrörelser över en definierad tidsperiod?.

Med intern könssegregering menas att kvinnor och män arbetar inom olika specialiteter av ett yrke. Ett yrke som har en jämn könsfördelning kan därför ändå vara starkt segregerat. Könssegregering kan innebära problem i form av till exempel effektivitetsförluster, privatekonomiska förluster och ojämn maktfördelning. Syftet med studien är att undersöka om intern könssegregering förekommer bland yrken som varit mansdominerade, men som idag har en betydligt jämnare könsfördelning. Hur segregeringen har påverkats av att andelen kvinnor ökat inom yrket och om det finns en koppling mellan lönenivå och andel kvinnor inom en specialitet undersöks.

The concept of domestic violence pertains to different definitions of violence, one of which is the concept of honour related violence and oppression. This paper looks at honour related violence and oppression, as defined in policy documents at a central political level, and how various discourses stand in relation to social categories and power relations. Consequently, the theoretical and methodological premise of the paper has been based on discourse analysis and an intersectional perspective has been applied to gain further depth and breadth in the analysis of the material. The intersectional perspective houses various approaches to the understanding of specific phenomena based on factors of gender, ethnicity, sexuality and class. The analysis concludes that the concept of honour related violence and oppression is a concept without a single scientific definition. There is, however, a general consensus in the political context that honour related violence and oppression is a collective force that can be directed at both sexes.

Sedan Ukrainas självständighetsförklaring 1991 har landet arbetat med att reformera sin ekonomi till ett mer marknadsekonomiskt system. Denna process innefattar en mängd olika aspekter att ta hänsyn till som har stora effekter på ekonomin. I denna uppsats har vi valt att analysera en del av de otaliga reformer som finns, nämligen hur väl Ukraina har lyckats med sina skattereformer i syfte att införa marknadsekonomi i landet. Dessutom ämnar vi besvarafrågan vilka effekter som skattereformerna har haft på landets ekonomi med fokus på hur statens intäkter förändrats samt utvecklingen av den makroekonomiska variabeln inflation ochlandets budgetunderskott. För att kunna besvara den förstnämnda frågan har vi använt oss av befintlig teori om den finanspolitiska transformationsprocessen samt analyserat skattebördan, skattestrukturen samt skattesatserna i Ukraina.

AbstractThe purpose of this thesis has been to investigate if the Swedish legislation concerning taxation of dividends to foreign investment funds is in violation to EU law. Furthermore, the thesis will analyze if the Fondskatteutredningens suggestions to changes in the current legislation is appropriate to the purpose it tries to obtain.Today there is a difference in the taxation of dividends paid to Swedish investment funds and foreign investment funds. Dividends paid to foreign investment funds is being taxed in accordance with the Coupon Tax Act (1970:624), in which no deduction of the tax is possible. Swedish investment funds on the other hand have the possibility to deduct as much of the received dividends that they have given in dividends to its shareholders.The difference in the taxation between investment funds because of origin has been reviewed by both Swedish court and by the European Court of Justice. It has in these cases been up to the courts to review if a difference in taxation of dividends could constitute a violation of the free movement.

Malmö, like many other bigger cities in Europe, faces a double undertaking when facing the challenges the future. Not only must the municipal be able to provide its citizens with welfare and a high standard of living, it must also establish a level of economic growth that allows the city to act as catalyst for the surrounding area. In order to provide the population with welfare and the economy with a qualified working force, these two challenges have been combined into one plan for the future called Welfare for Everybody. As part of this plan, new organisations have been created with the purpose collaborating with the social services office and support people in their transaction from welfare recipients to self-providing workers. The purpose of our thesis is to build on Michael Lipsky's classic work "Street-level Bureaucracy" and by conducting interviews with a number of front line workers study how they view their role, the client group and how they motivate the working line.

Aktörerna i begravningsbranschen verkar inom ett väldigt känsligt område, där det är viktigt att allt går rätt till, och att ingen känner sig lurad. Kunderna är emotionella vilket gör att ett extra ansvar vilar på begravningsbyråerna. Trots det är det en sluten bransch, utan statlig tillsyn och där de enskilda aktörerna i mångt och mycket kontrollerar sig själva.Fonus, det överlägset största begravningsföretaget i Sverige, gick i mitten av 00-talet igenom en svår ekonomisk kris, som man dock lyckades vända på väldigt kort tid. Bland annat genom avveckling av verksamheten i Danmark och Finland, och en omfattande omorganisation av verksamheten i Sverige. Vi har tittat närmare på Fonus och ser i dag en organisation som är spretigare till sin bolagsstruktur.
