Sweden's school voucher reform has made the Swedish school system into one of the world's most liberalized. The debate concerning the ownership of Swedish schools is intense and the Swedish Minister of Education is open to restricting private equity owned companies from running schools. Interestingly, fewer calls are heard for restricting smaller profit-driven companies from owning schools. This essay aims to examine whether or not the quality of education provided by an individual school changes if it is acquired by a large private equity owned school group. This is done by conducting a comparative study on four independent schools recently acquired by AcadeMedia, Sweden's biggest private equity owned school group.

This study examines whether social media had an influence on the revolution in Egypt. Social media was an important tool for the revolution since the president Hosni Mubarak and the Egyptian regime strictly controls the media. However social media was not the determining factor for the revolution, the revolt evolved due to many underlying factors. Social media facilitated communication, made the mobilization effective and, spread information to the inhabitants and to the rest of the world. Studien syftar till att försöka finna de uppfattningar som låg- och mellanstadielärare uppvisar i samband med läxan som fenomen. Vi har genomfört en kvalitativ studie med semistrukturerade intervjuer. Intervjuerna har analyserats utifrån Hellstens (1997) sju konnotationer av begreppet läxan. Dessa är förberedelse, tidstruktur, kontroll och styrning, kärlek och omsorg, identitet och status, gemenskap och kontakt samt arbetsprestation. Vi fann att lärarnas syn på fenomenet läxan stämde väl överens med dessa sju redovisade funktioner.

Syfte: Mobbning har en tendens att uppträda inom skolverksamheten, vilket har resulterat i ett arbete mot mobbning. Undersökningens syfte är att klargöra mobbningens förekomst inom högskolans IT ? stödda textkommunikations undervisning och vilka uttryck den ter sig i. Metod: Denna uppsats har en hermeneutisk ansats. Här studeras delarna för att få en bättre förståelse och kunskap om helheten.

Denna studies syfte har varit att undersöka pedagogiska och didaktiska aspekter i pianoskolor för nybörjare. Detta har gjorts genom en läromedelsgranskning av pianoskolorna Vi spelar piano 1 av Carl-Bertil Agnestig samt Pianoresan 1 av Galina Sjevtjenko och Natalia Kazimirovskaja.  Resultaten av denna granskning har relaterats till olika pianotraditioner, pedagogiska teorier samt forskningsarbeten. Det slutgiltiga resultatet visar vilka undervisningsmetoder som används i de båda böckerna samt hur böckerna är uppbyggda. Pianoskolorna har undersökts utifrån deras innehåll vad gäller låtval, musikalisk progression och musikaliskt uttryck. Undersökningen visar bland annat att uppbyggnaden av Vi spelar piano 1 påminner om Rostvall och Wests schemateori för att hjälpa eleverna att uppnå kunskap.

Bakgrunden till vår studie grundar sig i att utifrån ett medarbetareperspektiv undersöka hur individen upplever konflikten mellan makt och ansvar sett utifrån empowerment. Vi har genomfört en kvalitativ studie som grundar sig på kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer gjorda med anställda på olika företag.I en empowermentprocess så krävs det att det finns en fungerande kommunikation mellan chef och medarbetare. Förtroende och tillit har också visat sig vara av stor betydelse för att skapa en upplevelse av makt som i sin tur går att koppla an till individens subjektiva handlingsutrymme. Medarbetarens syn på ledarskapet handlar till stor del om chefens roll att skapa förutsättningar för en accepterande organisationskultur, detta för att en empowermentsatsning ska upplevas som positiv av båda parter. Today the school is a given place for preventing social problems. The school struggles continuously to live up to the expectations of balancing preventive social work with pedagogy in a satisfactory way.The purpose of this essay is to get a picture of priorities of social work in school. I want to know what it is that affects and controls the principal's decision about what kind of social project they will accept and be a part of.This essay shows that only one of the eleven principals interviewed apply projects based on evidence when they decide about participation in a social project. Instead, the decisions are based on references from other schools. The reason why the principals do not base their judgement on projects which are based on evidence is because they consider the search for results too time consuming.When there is no requirement that a certain part of the social work in a school must be based on evidence, it leads to the children taking part in different social projects which we can not guarantee are good for them.One solution can be to guide the principals through a national social teachingplan, which can assure that social work based on evidence are being applied in the municipality schools as well as the independent schools..

I en allt mer globaliserad värld är det nödvändigt att människor kan och har förmågan att jobba i andra länder och med medarbetare som har en annan kulturell bakgrund.Syftet med uppsatsen har varit att undersöka vilka egenskaper som krävts för ett interkulturellt ledarskap hos ledare som jobbat utomlands och vad de lärt sig av sina erfarenheter under den här tiden.Studien har haft en kvalitativ ansats där insamlingen av empirin har skett på ett av Sveriges största företag som nämns som "Koncernen" genom semistrukturerade intervjuer.Resultatet har visat att kommunikation spelar en mycket stor roll i detta avseende. Detta innefattar både verbal och icke-verbal kommunikation. Viktiga egenskaper hos interkulturella ledare är bl.a. förmågan att vara öppen och social. Samtliga intervjupersoner ansåg att vistelsen utomlands hade gjort att deras yrkesroll stärkts både i yrkeslivet och i det privata..

India is the country with the highest prevalence of rabies in the world, with about 20?000 human deaths occurring every year. The country also has a heavy burden of free roaming dogs, mainly because of the high amount of edible waste in the streets, which are the main hosts for the disease. Therefore to truly extinguish rabies, the main focus should be on the dogs, both stray dogs and owned. One method is to vaccinate all dogs against rabies.

Inertia beskrivs i litteraturen som ett organisatoriskt förändringsmotstånd och förklaras ofta vara orsaken till att organisationsförändringar misslyckas. Uppsatsen syftar till att genom litteraturstudie öka förståelsen för vad inertia är för något, vad organisationsförändring innebär samt hur dessa två faktorer påverkar lärandet i organisationen.Resultatet av denna litteraturstudie är att inertia konstateras vara en del av det som utgör organisationskulturen samt att inertia som begrepp i sig är olämpligt eftersom detta är i grunden naturvetenskapligt. Avslutningsvis konstateras att det som betecknas som inertia skulle kunna vara såväl ett hinder som en möjlighet för lärande i organisationen. Detta beroende på vilket synsätt man har på organisationer och organisationsförändringar. Sandberg & Targama (1998) konstateras förespråka ett synsätt som skulle kunna vara till stor nytta för organisationer inför förändringar då lärande bör ske.

The aim is to describe the factors that influence nurses' assessment and measurement of pain in patients. Literature study based on 13 reviewed articles, searched in the Cinahl. Qualitative and quantitative articles were analyzed. Six themes were identified that can be seen as the factors that influence nurses' assessment and measurement. The themes were   pain education, nurses´ experience in the profession, nurses´ level of knowledge about pain relief, documentation about pain, nurse´s perspective on the patient, and pain measurement.

To become old and live in an institution could mean that the habits and routines they have obtained during their lifetime and are used to may become changed. There are fixed norms and rules which the elderly more or less have to adjust to. The aim of this study was to describe how nursing staff attitudes influence on elderly care takers meal situation. The method of this study was a literature review. The result showed that norms and rules not always are adjusted to caretakers? wishes and needs.

This thesis is covering my design of an architectural object for the use in a pedagogical setting. The purpose is to create contextual premises for students, making possible the testing of designs, involving plants suitable for the urban environment. Hence, the main features in the object design is suggestive to the urban outdoor rooms - rooms that are formed amongst the city facades. The thesis is also about the design process set out from a technical reality, based on camera imagery. To a large extent, the thesis consists of reflections concerning the object's function towards pedagogy, perception and materials. Furthermore, the object claims to be a hybrid between architecture and landscape architecture.

This project practise methods used in the interaction design discipline to develop a concept related to the Swedish Guinness World Records Magazine. This project is a challenge to accommodate both the users? and client?s needs. We focus on interaction and the experience, which is acquired through the use itself, and how to connect it to a theme from a client. The aim of this project is to create a meeting place for children where they can interact with technology.

In this essay we study the practice of teaching and learning through aesthetic learning processes in a Waldorf School. Through an ethnographic field study three Waldorf teachers have been interviewed about their views regarding in what ways aesthetic learning processes are present in their teaching and how learning through these processes is being carried out practically. For the study a specific class has been observed during three days in a Waldorf School in Stockholm to examine how the aesthetic learning processes are being performed in practice.Through the study we have reached the conclusion that in this particular Waldorf School teaching is being performed artistically and through aesthetic approaches and perspectives. This way of teaching is being carried out not only in the aesthetic subjects but also in the theoretic.
