This study is primarily an account of my examination work in archival science which took place in the archive of Margareta Böttiger, the state epidemiologist at the Swedish Institute for Communicable Disease Control Stockholm. The records are from Böttigers period of work, mainly divided into three parts, polio, HIVS/AIDS and vaccination. Of these I have focused on polio with was the area she got renowned for. Moreover, owing to the uniqueness of the material this study has focused on the properties of the archive as a working-life archive which I propose as a special type of personal archive with unique attributes. To summarize, a working-life archive has in comparison with other personal archives a more fluid process of archiving where the profession is important, not the personal production of records.

The aim of this study is to investigate variations of conceptions among prison librarians, concerning mediation of information from an ethical perspective. We have performed interviews with nine librarians and used the phenomenographic approach when analyzing the material. Sixteen categories of conceptions were found, distributed on four aspects of the phenomenon, the act of mediating information to inmates. The results show a variety of conceptions among the librarians. The four aspects cover conceptions about the inmates as users of the library services in prisons, conceptions about the information need of the inmates, conceptions concerning policies, guidelines and laws and conceptions about information access in the prisons.

The electronic music studio ?Elektronmusikstudion? (EMS) inStockholm was initiated in 1963. It has had several different managers throughout the years. EMS soon became a rather costly project. Furthermore there have been several conflicts among staff and users wich has contributed to EMS fairly turbulent history.

Archives can tell us many things about the past. The purpose of this guide is to facilitate the work of those who want to know more about the documents associated with death sentences. The guide gives a brief introduction to the history of the death penalty in Swedish legal history, to the legal process and to the judicial authorities. It also adresses the relationship between the various bodies and the relationship between law and jurisprudence. The guide presents primarily the archives of Nedre justitierevisionen and of Svea hovrätt.

Uppsatsen behandlar hur Riksarkivet, trots avsaknaden av tvingande juridiska bevarandekrav, agerat i frågan kring bevarandet av personarkiv och hur detta i sin tur har avspeglats i arkivinstitutionens beståndsprofil under perioden 1901-2002. Ämnet är av intresse då tidigare forskning kring personarkiv främst koncentrerats till ordnings- och förteckningsprinciper eller frågor kring personarkivens användningsområden för forskarsamhället. Undersökningens teoretiska ramverk utgår från att arkiven inte är neutrala förmedlare av historien, utan aktivt formas av den rådande tidsandans idéer och förutsättningar. Därigenom blir arkivarierna, genom sina ageranden och ställningstaganden, viktiga aktörer i konstruktionen av det förflutna. En annan viktig teoretisk utgångspunkt för studien är hur minneskategorierna; kollektivt minne, personligt minne, arkivminne och historiskt minne, interagerar med varandra för att forma vår förståelse av det förgångna.           Undersökningen består metodologiskt av två delstudier ? en kvalitativt inspirerad studie av myndighetens egenproducerade handlingar för att utröna agerandet i personarkivsfrågan, och en kvantitativ motsvarighet för att belysa hur detta avspeglats i myndighetens personarkivsbestånd, där källmaterialet bestått i Riksarkivets beståndsöversikt över person- släkt- och gårdsarkiv. Resultatet visar att Riksarkivet under åren 1901-2002 går från att vara en institution med ett ganska svalt intresse för personarkiv till att bli en aktör som på ett aktivt sätt både insamlar och genererar nytt personarkivsmaterial.

Studien i denna uppsats är explorativ och förståelseinriktad. Syftet med undersökningen är att undersöka om respondenterna uppfattar att man med hjälp av Web 2.0-verktyg kan stödja lärande utifrån tankebokens koncept.Undersökningen har genomförts på en grupp studenter på Digitala Medieprogrammet vid Högskolan Väst. Studenterna läste vid tillfället en kurs som heter Digitala Distributionsformer, en kurs kring hur man använder olika former av digitala distributionsformer både via internet och mobil. Undersökningen består av en fokusgrupp av dessa studenter, samt observationer kring studenternas användning av de digitala verktygen.Resultatet visar att bloggar ger fördelar och uppmuntrar studenter till ett reflekterat lärande genom t.ex. tankebok som form.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the local debate on the Music library in Västervik to see what arguments, pro et contra, that constitutes it. Since its opening the Music library has faced regular threats of being closed down. This is an issue interesting due to several factors, its lack of guaranteed public funding and relative importance to Västervik´s attempts at city branding being two. Using argument analysis, the thesis proposes that the local debate shows traces of both instrumental and culture centered, intrinsical views of the Music library, and that the instrumental view holds both negative and positive poles of opinion while the intrinsical counterpart is one-sidedly positive. Further, the thesis argues that this is in line with a long since documented shift in cultural politics towards a more market oriented discourse..

We have produced a process mapping and from there developed a document management plan for the research service at the Labour Movement Archives and Library (ARAB) in Stockholm, Sweden. The project was conducted during five weeks in the spring of 2011 at ARAB and the resulting classification structure and document plan has been formulated and presented to the staff at a seminar. We found that the institution in some cases were suffering from an inadequate documentation in a number of the identified processes, and also in their records management and archiving. In this additional memorandum follows an analyzing discussion of activity-based document- and archive management, e-archives and process mapping. We have accordingly tried to standardize the process of research services and contribute to a more adequate document management within the institution.

The purpose of this essay is to study the process of developing electronic subject guides for the Internet. Our focus is the content, structure and layout of the subject guide. The study has resulted in a number of guidelines that may be of help in the development of future subject guides. To achieve this purpose we have studied the existing subject guide at one of the faculties of the University of Lund, Sweden. We performed a series of interviews with the originators, and made a questionnaire for the users.

During the last decades the evolution of information technology and the increasing ability to access information have been discussed in many ways. In the beginning the focus was on the technology but now the discussion is more and more about the use of information and how to develop knowledge out of it. There is an ongoing discussion about the difference between knowledge and information. The subject of this Master s thesis is to find out if and how the Swedish elementary school has written into its mission statements to help the pupils to become information literate. For this purpose I have examined literature about information literacy and pedagogic as well as legislation and other documents that control how the Swedish elementary schools work.

This essay examines the possibilities for the use of ICT for learning in the subject of history. By interviewing history teachers in upper secondary school about their experiences and thoughts regarding the subjects of learning, history and ICT, as well as the relations there between, based on Mishra and Koehlers TPACK model, I come to the conclusion that ICT may enhance learning in history. I also conclude that ICT may create new learning environments in history, where knowledge may or may not grow.The more unique ways of using ICT in history, compared to other school subjects, appears to be the possibility of using a variety of new sources, for example digitized primary sources from archives, that perhaps will motivate students, and make it possible to work from a con- structivistic point of view in history.Other unique possibilities are to satisfy the need of concretizing and visualizing the history being taught, by using a broad range of different media when presenting it. .

Kalmar Energis kraftvärmeverk har sedan det togs i drift 2009 blandat bottenaskan med askan ifrån konvektionsstråken. Eftersom Kalmar Energi söker nya användningsområden för askorna var för sig har en separering av dessa blivit aktuell att undersöka.Syftet med rapporten var att ta fram en teknisk lösning åt Kalmar Energi för att transportera aska från konvektionsstråk 2 och 3 till flygasksilon på Moskogen kraftvärmeverk.Rapporten har skrivits i nära samarbete med Moskogens driftpersonal samt med tillgång till deras arkiv och DCS. Rapporten har gjorts som en kvalitativ undersökning med intervjuer och en litteraturstudie.Den tekniska lösningen resulterade i att aska från konvektionsstråk 2 och 3 transporteras via cellmatare, skruvar och fallrör till en ny gemensam stoftsändare. Stoftsändaren kommer sedan pneumatiskt transportera askan via en ny transportledning direkt till flygasksilon..

In a complex and turbulent world, several companies begin to realize the value of information as a strategic resource and try to find strategies to manage this. This master thesis aims to describe the information management at Axis Communications AB. Axis is a fast growing company and due to this they have not been able to manage the flow of information whitin the company. To find out how the information was managed at this time we made a survey and employee interviews at three Axis business units. By analyzing the surveys and interviews we found several problems.

Riksarkivet i Stockholm är i behov av mer kontorsutrymme i anslutning till den befintliga byggnaden i Marieberg. Det här projektet försöker lösa uppgiften att lägga till en liten kontorsbyggnad ? med omkring trettio cellkontor och två konferensrum ? bredvid och i anslutning till den befintliga.Riksarkivet är en av de äldsta offentliga institutionerna i Sverige och dess huvudsakliga uppgift är att ta emot och bevara svenska myndigheter and det svenska parlamentets arkiv. Till uppgiften hör även att övervaka arkivhanteringen runt om i Sverige samt att göra material tillgängligt för allmänheten.Fokus i detta projekt har legat på hur den nya byggnaden förhåller sig till Riksarkivet och till dess omgivning, både volymmässigt och vad gäller hur fasaderna utformas.  Projektet har även handlat om hur program, konstruktion och material kan sättas ihop i en sammanhängande helhet.

This paper is an account of the work around the arrangement and registration of the archive of the Swedish Art-ists? Association?s archive. The Swedish Artists? Association is an association of artists that both makes exhibi-tions for their members? works and handles the Artists? House, called Konstnärshuset in Swedish. During the work with the archive the author faced a number of challenges and problems.
