We have by Statistics Sweden (SCB) been given the task of using different dynamic regression models in order to forecast service price index for sea transport. The aim is to see whether these models provide better forecasts than those previously used. This essay aim to identify, estimate and evaluate the selected prediction models. Through our data material we were given access to 28 sightings of sea transport index during the period of 2004 q1 to 2010 q4. We have chosen to evaluate three different transfer function models, one ARIMA model and one naive forecasting model. The input variables we decided to test in our transfer function models were the price of petroleum products, the port activity in Swedish ports and the lending rate of Swedish Central bank. The results of our study suggest that transfer function models generally provide better models than the ARIMA model and the naive forecast model.

This report describes how we, with support from SYSteam Datakonsult AB Värnamobuilds a dynamic website for a fictional company. The purpose of this work is to tietogether our studies with the businesses in the region, and expand our knowledge.Together with Peter Bäckrud from SYSteam we worked out the goals to achieve thispurpose. The goals are to create a polished intranet to a company with the webpagepublishing tool EPIserverThis report begins with describing the goals and visions that were set up. Then follows athorough theoretical background that describes the areas we have touched, to give thereader an idea about the work. The report then moves into the creation phase that talksabout the problem that occurred during development.The creation phase is split up into two parts where the first part gives a good descriptionabout how we designed a usability friendly website that would fulfill the goals we had setup.

Synen på förvaltningen har ändrats ganska kraftigt under 1900-talet och med uppkomsten av externa förvaltningsbolag började vi fundera kring vad det kunde ha för betydelse för förvaltningsprocessen. Därför blev vår problemformulering; Finns det några organisatoriska och strategiska skillnader mellan förvaltning i egen regi kontra outsourcing som kan få effekter för förvaltningen? Syftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva och analysera hur fastighetsförvaltningen påverkas av de organisatoriska och strategiska skillnader som finns mellan olika typer av fastighetsförvaltningsbolag. Vi har arbetat med ett uppdragsförvaltande bolag, ett bolag med fastighetsförvaltning i egen regi samt ett företag som står för hela processen från mark och byggande till förvaltning. Information har samlats in från relevant teori och via intervjuer med berörda företag.

For research purposes Saab has developed a generic mathematical model denoted VEGAS of an aircraft with a configuration similar to JAS 39 Gripen. Today parts of Gripen backup control system are used also for VEGAS making the system subject to both corporate and defense secrecy. The main objective of this master thesis is to design, verify and implement public pitch axis flight control system for VEGAS. Furthermore, simplifications regarding the design process is to be examined. Design of pitch axis flight control system for the entire flight envelope has been carried out.

AbstractIn my study I have investigated how a constructed outdoor green environment can beused, managed and how it works. The study also investigates the concept of socialsustainability, where, for example, civil dialogue is a method to promote this. Thisinvestigation mainly gives account for the inhabitants viewpoint but also a gardenersperspective. The study focuses on the planning process of the study object, what theoutcome has been and how the users of the green environment, think about the result. Inthe process there has been a strong concern of involving the residents and others usingthe area.

In inhalation anesthesia life-support systems are used to provide gases to the patient and to monitor important parameters. These systems are used in dynamic and stressful situations where the information-load on the operators often is significant. This thesis presents a design concept of an anesthetic system. The design goal has been to keep the information-load on the operator low with the objective to minimize confusion and error.A number of contextual inquiries were made in the operating room during surgery at four hospitals in Sweden. The goal was to understand the actual use-situations when anesthetic systems are employed.

Today it is not unusual to use a secondary screen to accompany a primary screen. The possibility to integrate these two in the form of an application for the secondary screen have long been possible but have not been developed to full potential. This thesis aims to study the use of the extra information and functions this type of application would make possible and how this type of application could be used.For this study a prototype-application including a real time newsfeed and a static menu for a specific episode of a Tv-series was created based on the information collected in an online survey. The application was tested on a number of people who got to evaluate the experience in short interviews and were given the possibility to recommend changes in the application.The result after the study showed the people where torn about what kind of information would best fit the application but showed over all that a dynamic newsfeed with information continuously updated with the episode where most appreciated. The problem with the difference in interest around the categories would be solved first and foremost by the application being configurable so that every single user has the possibility to choose which kind of information to be updated in the newsfeed.

 I och med globaliseringens utsuddning av gränserna mellan länder och möjligheterna som det har skapat för bland annat outsourcing, har de svenska företagen idag helt andra förutsättningar än för 100 år sedan. Det finns idag ett flertal välkända svenska företag som har starka varumärken som anspelar till lokala orter runt om i landet. Vissa av dessa företag har valt att behålla sin produkttillverkning i Sverige, medan andra valt att outsourca den till lågprisländer. Studiens syfte är att genom kvalitativa intervjuer hos företag med lokala varumärken och dess kunder, analysera vilken betydelse den lokala tillverkningen har för företagets varumärkesimage för att på så sätt få reda på om lokal tillverkning är en hållbar strategi för långsiktig överlevnad. Resultatet av studien visar indikationer på att en lokal tillverkning saknar betydelse för hur företagens varumärkesimage uppfattas.

AbstractElderly people are going to be a growing number in Europe. Between one third are going to be 60 years or older at 2025. For Sweden the situation is going to be similar. A reduced muscle function could lead to complications for the individual to perform daily tasks and will lead to a higher rate for falling and getting bone fractures. The positive sides are that for men and women there are a possibility for maintaining physical function and strength even in older years.

Nybyggda parker och grönytor runtom i vårt land designas idag ofta utifrån ett slutgiltigt utseende. Med detta menas att en park som i slutändan förväntas domineras av tio stora ekar, planteras med tio ekar. Här finns det i stället en möjlighet att planera för förändring över tid, en långsiktig designprocess som tillåter andra uttryck att komma fram under vägen mot målbilden. Denna uppsats söker därför utforska hur vegetationsdesign och skötsel kan planeras så att de ger upplevelser kontinuerligt längs denna väg mot målbild. Tyngdvikten i denna uppsats kommer att ligga vid vegetationen under dess nyplanterade och unga år, då de fortfarande är plastiska och formbara. The Methodology used to gather empirical materials for this thesis has been different types of interviews. The interviews have been mainly unstructured personal interviews directly with our respondents, due to limiting factors some of the interviews have been carried out via phone or email. The theoretical framework consists of literature from well-recognised authors and is divided into four different parts: Insourcing & Outsourcing, Intellectual Capital, Knowledge Management, China & Intercultural understanding. The empirical foundation has been gathered from a great variety of different sources in an attempt to cover the many complex angels in which this subject can be looked upon. Chinese students, managers in international companies with experience from China, Chinese employees in Swedish companies and different people with good knowledge of different areas of China are all among our respondents. In our conclusion we have reached the three following conclusions for why one should start a “bridge building” enterprise in between qualified Chinese human capital and Swedish structure capital: 1.
