Steam was used as a site preparation method to eliminate unwanted bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) in the boreal forest. The efficiency of steam to suppress bilberry was compared with prescribed burning and cutting the bilberry. Different combinations of steaming and/or cutting the bilberry were set up to investigate in which way steaming and cutting influenced the sprouting and regrowth of bilberry. The regrowth of the bilberry vegetation was monitored for 40 month. Steam was most efficient in suppressing bilberry.

Two post milkning teat dips (PMTD´s) were compared in an automatic milking system at Kungsängen Research Farm, owned by SLU (Swedish University of Agriculture) in Uppsala. In the experiment an evaluation system was used where teat condition regarding skin and teat ends was graded according to a scale where 1 was the best score and 5 the worst. The evaluation period was almost six months in total devided into four minor experimental periods. The technician scoring the teats did not know which PMTD that was currently used. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the two PMTD´s regarding teat skin condition, but not regarding teat ends.

This paper examines the interpersonal and intercorporate networks of interlocking boardmembers among Sweden's 50 largest publicly traded companies in 1985 and 2005. We find that both the interpersonal and intercorporate networks of 1985 are considerably more coherent and densely connected than those of 2005. The observed changes in social network structure are compared to changes in company ownership in Swedish publicly traded companies during the same period, and it is found that the observed changes in network density and cohesion can be related to a notable increase in the number of foreign board members. These results imply that the social organization of the Swedish system of corporate governance has changed notably during the period. Social network theory suggests that these changes can explain the greater demand for external regulation, decreased homogeneity of board members and increase in board member compensation observed under the period.

AbstractThe purpose of this essay is to analyse and interpret artist Hans Hedberg?s monumental, ceramic reliefs in Sweden and France. Hedberg is internationally famous for his ceramic fruits and eggs in different glaces and formats. A mostly unknown side of his artistic production is that he produced about 50 ceramic reliefs during the 1950s and up to the 1970s in public buildings. Hedberg was one of very few foreign artists in France, who, during a long period of time, produced monumental, public reliefs for the French state.

Throughout its wide distribution in the northern hemisphere, the golden eagle occurs in a diverse range of environments, e.g., mountainous, forest and open areas. The literature on juvenile golden eagles is limited, and this study provides further knowledge on habitat use and ranging behaviour during the post-fledging period in boreal Sweden. A total of 14 golden eagle juveniles were tagged with GPS transmitters during 2010 and 2011, and nine could be followed during the entire post-fledging period from fledging until migration. The juveniles fledged at the end of July and beginning of August and initiated migration during October and beginning of November. The length of the post-fledging period, until migration started, ranged from 49 to 97 days. During this period, the juveniles? distance from their natal nest and their GPS height increased with time as their flying abilities developed.

The aim of this study is two folded. We wish to investigate if there is a value premium from hedging jet fuel exposure for American and European airlines. We also seek to answer if airlines can affect their probability to default by using Risk Management. During the period 2003 ? 2006 there existed a value premium for airlines that hedged their expected future consumption of jet fuel.

The purpose of this trial was to evaluate the possibility to use sampling of faeces, urine and plasma, and measurements of blood pressure as methods of discovering hypomagnesemia in horses, as well as the application handiness of these methods. The most commonly used method of checking the magnesium status of a horse is to analyze samples of serum or plasma. The trial was of a switch-back design, in which the horses were used as their own controls. The animal material was five Swedish warm blooded trotters between six to ten years old, and weighing between 485-620 kg. The trial consisted of three periods that were two months each.

Det här arbetet syftar till att undersöka om och hur födoberikning kan stimulera vitörade silkesapor att utföra högre frekvenser av naturliga beteenden samt att se hur aktiva aporna är och om de frivilligt visar sig för publik på djurparken. Födoberikningen gick ut på att erbjuda aporna mat på ett mer naturligt sätt istället för att enbart ge dem maten i matskålar. Dessutom syftar arbetet till att erbjuda aporna en näringsmässigt korrekt sammansatt kost. Studien utfördes på två grupper av vitörade silkesapor på Parken Zoo i Eskilstuna under perioden juni till september år 2004. Undersökningen delades upp i tre perioder, under period 1 observerades aporna utan att någon födoberikning genomfördes.

När du fyller 18 år i Sverige förväntas du bli vuxen. Det är en utmanande period i livet då mycket händer och förändras. För de som lider av någon form av psykisk ohälsa och är i behov av kontakt med psykiatrin innebär denna period att man måste byta vård från Barn- och Ungdomspsykiatrin (BUP) till Vuxenpsykiatrin. Syftet med denna uppsats var attundersöka hur unga vuxna upplever övergången från BUP till vuxenpsykiatrin i Sverige och vilka behov de har under den processen. Fyra halvstrukturerade intervjuer hölls med fyra kvinnor mellan 20-26 år.

Since Sweden joined the EU in 1995 there has been a noticeable increase in the value of arable land occurred. This paper is intended to study the inflation of farmland prices. In order to ascertain what affects the market prices so much since Sweden affiliated with the EU three regions has been selected for a detailed study on the subject. These three regions are selected because each of them represents different parts of the Swedish farmlands. The time period that has been examined is the year 1995 until 2009.The price raises in the three observed regions was overall fairly even at the end of the studied period.

Recent years have been very turbulent for most private equity firms. Especially the financial meltdown in global economy has affected the industry, but also the public pressure has made private equity houses change their control strategies towards more conventional methods used in public companies. This thesis aims to put light on the control methods used in listed private equity houses which use a buyout strategy. The paper describes how the control methods change over the different phases the asset experience and how different value generating strategies use altered control methods. Using Merchant's (2003) framework for management control systems and Berg and Gottschalg's (2004) research on value generating strategies in buyouts the thesis shows that action controls as designing instructions for the board and a business plan, together with goal alignment is the commonly used control strategy directly after the acquisition.

Uppsatsen behandlar det osäkrade ränteparitetsvillkoret under en tid då det skett stora förändringar på finansmarknaderna. Hur villkoret uppfylls testas mellan Sverige och Tyskland under en period med regleringar på finansmarknaderna, perioden var 1980:M2-1989:M6 samt en period utan regleringar vilken var 1989:M7-1998:M11. Hypotesen var att det borde finnas större förutsättning för uppfyllelse av det osäkrade ränteparitetsvillkoret på oreglerade finansmarknader. Resultatet visar dock inte på någon större uppfyllelse under den senare perioden i vilken det inte fanns några regleringar. Två av tre skattade koefficienter har fått det förväntande tecknet och en av dessa var också signifikant på 5 % signifikansnivå, den signifikanta koefficienten erhölls vid den första körningen när det fortfarande förekom regleringar..

This essay is based on the work of arranging and making an inventory for an archive consisting of records from the Board of Education (Utbildningsnämnden) within the administration of the County Council in Uppsala, Sweden. This archive is kept at the County Councils Archives in Uppsala where I have done the work. I have documented the process and discussed the complex of problems relating to it. In this particular case the issue of limitation of the office of origin and the respect of the fonds, or the principle of provenance, have been of interest. This is due to the fact that the records had been rearranged and mixed with records with other origin related to the Board of Education.

Denna uppsats undersöker hur den svenska konstnären Greta Knutson historiskt sett har kanoniserats i relation till sitt förhållande med den kände dadaisten Tristan Tzara och den franska surrealiströrelsen under 1920- och 1930-talet. Knutson hade en lång och produktiv karriär och uppsatsens intention är att flytta fokus från de tidiga dagarna i Paris med surrealisterna till hennes senare konstnärliga period, räknad från slutet på 1960-talet fram till hennes död 1983. Min tes är att en radikal stilförändring då skedde till ett, paradoxalt nog, mer surrealistisk konstnärligt uttryck. Med hjälp av Griselda Pollock och det teoretiska begreppet ?kanonisering? ifrågasätts varför denna senare period i stort har gått förbi konsthistorien och hur Knutsons relation till surrealismen sett ut.

For my advanced degree in archival science, I have organised and catalogued two family archives; man Family Archives ("Gardtmanska släktarkivet") and the Hamnström Family Archives ("Hamnströmska säk- tarkivet"). Though both could be labelled "family archives", there were many differences between the two. The Gardtman Family Archives contained the records of several family members from a period of several centuries, spanning from the early 17th century, to the early 20th century. It was by far the larger of the two archives. A substantial part of the records consisted of documents regarding various agricultural estates the family had owned or been involved with in one way or another.
