Hur barn prioriteras på folkbibliotek: en kvalitativ studie om barns tillgång till biblioteksverksamhet.

The purpose of this master?s thesis is to investigate children?s access to specific children?s activities at Swedish public libraries 2005. The thesis is based on literature studies and qualitative interviews with children?s librarians, library directors and local politicians at two demographically different libraries in Gothenburg.The sub questions are: What measures exist to promote children?s access to public libraries and children?s activities when it comes to: law and other political statements: different efforts on the state level and different efforts on the municipal level in the direct activity with children at public libraries? What driving forces and needs justify activities for children at public libraries? How will the responsible persons judge that the efforts are sufficient? The result of the study shows that children?s access to library activity has increased in the last couple of years due to reorganization, economic savings with closing down of library affiliates and because libraries have given priority to other things, like IT and new media. Children?s librarians have got new assignments and less time for children?s activity.The conclusion of our investigation is that children?s librarians are ambitious in their work, but unfortunately don?t give children?s library activity adequate resources.

"Lets Play!" : En studie av kunskapsöverföring mellan digitala spel och musikinstrument.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine if users of digital music games may acquire skills from the games that may be of use in learning to play a real instrument, that is a non-digitally simulated instrument like an acoustic piano. We have used Gee?s theory regarding a possible interconnection between different semiotic domains, and how this connection may enable a transfer of skills between related domains. In this thesis we examine possible skill transfer between the domains ?digital games? and ?non-digital instruments?. To examine our question formulation we chose to conduct a pilot study from which we collected both quantitative and qualitative data.

Lärares ledarskap och kommunikation : En interaktionsanalytisk studie av tillämpade ledarstrategier i klassrummet med fokus på multimodalitet.

Studiens syfte är beskriva lärares olika tillämpning av kommunikationsmönster i klassrummet. Detta görs med avseende på kommunikativa resurser och på så sätt sammankoppla pedagogiska fält som ledarskap och pedagogik till multimodalitet. Modala utgångspunkter för analysen i avseende på kommunikativa förmågor är; ögonkontakt, hållning, placering, avstånd, gester och ansiktsuttryck. Dessa förmågor studeras genom att analysera lärarens användande av dessa i sin interaktion med eleverna samt hur lärarens användande skiljer sig beroende på dennes tillämpning av ledarstrategi. Datamaterialet består av ett antal videosekvenser filmade i ett klassrum med en lärare och en elevklass. Analysen av datamaterialet har genomförts genom en multimodalt interaktionsanalys, vilket har givit stort utrymme till kontextens inverkan på hur de sociala aktörerna använder kommunikativa förmågor.

Within the last year many companies have proactively started to communicate their flaws and weaknesses, believing that this will lead to they being perceived as more personal and human. Dominos Pizza is one of many examples of a company using this practice as a strategic tool for communication. However, the problem concerning the above arises as we found that there was a very limited amount of research defining the effects of communicating flaws, where the company's both dispatcher and initiator. Our study aims to fill the gap between this growing trend and the limited research explaining the communication effects. The study was carried out as an experiment where a total of 420 respondents participated.

Gulliver - ? en plattform för testning, utveckling och demonstration av

Kandidatprojektet har tagit fram en test- och utvecklingsplattform som underlättar testning och förståelse av komplexa trafiksituationer. En förståelse som kan användas till att lösa så väl dagens som morgondagens trafikproblem. Dessa problem innefattar ökade köbildningar, en stigande olycksfrekvens samt den miljöpåverkan som trafikens koldioxidsutsläpp orsakar. Ett långsiktigt mål för detta projekt är att möjliggöra ett intelligentare och billigare sätt att lösa dessa problem.Specialiserade delsystem som innefattar en trafiksimulator, en kommunikationsnod-simulator, fysiska miniatyrfordon samt en kartklient vilka har integrerats för att skapa en omfattande test- och utvecklingsplattform. Plattformen har kapacitet att återge verklighetstrogna trafiksituationer och ger därför en möjlighet att testa olika lösningar.

To get rid of our dependence on fossil fuels we need to make use of renewable energy sources like wind power to a greater extent. Even though wind power is a renewable energy source it can still cause some problems for the close environment. One of the problems is shadow flickering. Drivkrafterna bakom sveriges moderna helikopteranskaffningar och avvecklingar

This thesis addresses the driving forces behind the Swedish state?s procurement of Helicopters 14 and 16 and the decommissioning of Helicopter 4. These actions have significantly affected the Swedish Armed Forces, especially the Helicopter Wing, in carrying out their operational tasks. On numerous occasions the Helicopter Wing has been unable to perform its tasks. For instance, the Nordic Battle Group 08 had no helicopters to exercise with and, until recently, Sweden had completely lacked the ability to hunt submarines with helicopters for almost ten years.This thesis also aims to compare the decisions in 1999-2000 regarding Helicopter 14 with the decisions in 2010-2011 regarding the acquisition of Helicopter 16, to find if there is a general trend and how much the Armed Forces were able to influence decisions.

The purpose of this study was to examine how small-scale private forest ownersmake decisions regarding pre-commercial thinning. In 2015 it is ten years agosince the storm Gudrun hit the southern parts of Sweden and now large areas arein need of pre-commercial thinning. This study is built upon qualitativeinterviews with seven small-scale private forest owners with forest properties inthe county Kronoberg. The respondents were chosen by the modelSKOGSÄGARPROFILENTM (forest owner profile).The results of the interviews showed that five categories: ownership, the stormGudrun´s impact, silviculture, forestry contacts and driving force was important.How will their purpose and aim affect the pre-commercial thinning? Personalinterests, and expectations of the next generation to take over, are purposes thisstudy has found.

The structural rationalization of rural firms in Sweden has led to many new creative ways of developing companies. The agriculture sector is characterized by the need of capital in form of buildings, labor and inventory. The rationalization process has led to free capacity in rural firms when new technology make buildings and inventory not longer necessary for the production process. To get a better cost coverage this free capacity can be used to start-up new business areas that help the rural firm to growth.The study aims to identify factors that motives entrepreneurs in rural firms to develop new business areas. The purpose is also to analyze driving forces that lies behind development of rural firms and the forces that support or not support development in rural firms.The study is built upon five cases that all can be categorized as firms with different size and orientation.

 The aim of this essay is to examine if the Swedish Major labels are moving towards making their catalogue available on different platforms rather than their traditional distribution of music. The new technology has really stirred things up for the major labels and file-sharing has been a problem for a long time. The labels have a history of fighting new formats instead of embracing them and listen to what their consumers actually want. We have found that the majors now are in the leading edge of music distribution due to technology and that is a first. We have focused this essay on if the consumption of music has changed the distribution of it or the other way around and found that people have changed their ways of consuming music over the years and the labels have always been forced to adapt.

Den offentliga upphandlingen implementeringsproblem.

This thesis is a cultural theoretical case study of the art project (O)önskad samhällsförbättring.Via an analysis of the project, that is based on theories of power, resistance and contemporaryurban development, it examines the construction of urban space, its impact on public art including the ability of art to initiate evolvement of the urban public space.The last decades art has plaid an important role in what is called the creative city; to become attractive nodal points of the global economy, larger cities increasingly invest in art,culture and creative industry. Simultaneously the urban public space is limited to activitiesand expressions of art that are presumed to create economic growth. This introduces animpression of what is allowed and what is not allowed, possible and not possible, wished andnot wished which, as a consequence, evolves the public space. The events during the artproject and the reactions that followed enlightened these limitations. This tells a story, not only about the structuring process of the local urban space, but also important changes that are created as a simultaneous effect at different levels in society, as well locally as globally.

Kadenssensor med en accelerometer och ANT+

Rapporten presenterar det examensarbetet som har gått ut på att undersöka möjligheterna att konstruera en sensor som mäter kadens med hjälp av en accelerometer. Implementation av kadensprofilen till ANT+ har gjorts för att möjliggöra synkronisering mellan en sportklocka och sensorn. Kadens är hur fort cyklisten trampar med pedalerna mätt i enheten Varv per minut vanligt förkortat RPM från engelskans Revolutions Per Minute. Hur fort en cyklist trampar påverkar kroppen på många olika sätt och ofta vill cyklisten veta vad aktuell kadens är för att optimera sin prestation. Den undersökta principen att använda en accelerometer för att mäta kadens syftar till att en eventuell prototyp skulle vara lämplig till inomhuscykling även kallad spinning.

Uppföljning av planerat skotningsavstånd med hjälp av geografisk informationsteknologi (GIT)

The cost of forwarding corresponds to about one tenth of the forestry industries raw material cost. This gives a motive to do good follow-ups to get a good overview of the forwarding distance and, thus, enable improvements. Follow-ups are also justified by the possibility to make more accurate calculations of the harvesting costs, if better estimations of forwarding distance are achieved. Today (2009) Stora Enso has GPS and vehicle-computers in most of their forwarders. These are used mainly for the forwarder to follow the tracks of the harvester and for the planning leader to see how the forwarder has been driving within the stand.

Car-Pi ? Analys och guidning för bra bilkörning

Syftet med detta examensarbete var att skapa ett serverprogram i en enkortsdator som arbetar i realtid för att kunna hjälpa människor att köra mer ekonomiskt och miljövänligt i deras vardag.Detta var ett av målen ställda av produktbeställaren Ziggy Creative Colony. Ett mer långsiktigt mål från beställaren är att datorn skall installeras i en bil och kopplas till bilens on-board diagnostic-II (OBD-II)-uttag. Datorn ska sedan, via OBD-II, kunna samla information som till exempel hastighet, acceleration och bränsleflöde från bilens engine control unit (ECU). Serverprogrammet ska bearbeta denna information som sedan kommuniceras och visualiseras till bilföraren via en native mobilapplikation.Serverprogrammet byggdes i en linuxbaserad dator: Raspberry Pi och döptes av oss till Car-Pi. Car-Pi designades enligt arkitekturmönstret Model-View-Controller (MVC) som gör det lätt att underhålla, vidare-utveckla och implementera programmet av produktägaren, Ziggy Creative Colony, i framtiden.
