Effekter av en downsizing : Vilka faktorer kan påverka

Hur påverkas de som får behålla sin anställning vid en personalneddragning, Downsizing? Ser de sig som vinnare och bildar ett högmotiverat team som med entusiasm går in för att säkra organisationens överlevnad, eller är det istället tvärtom, att de som blir kvar påverkas så negativt att de förlorar sin organisationscommitment och börjar fundera på att söka sig ifrån organisationen? Den tidiga forskningen ägnades åt dem som fick lämna sin anställning vid en Downsizing. Under de senaste decennierna har intresset även riktats mot dem som överlever d.v.s. de som får behålla sin anställning vid en Downsizing. Forskningen har identifierat ett antal faktorer som kan sättas i samband med effekterna av en Downsizing.

Emotionella upplevelser och emotionsreglering i samband med en nedskärningsprocess

The aim of this study was to investigate emotions and emotion regulation of a Downsizing in an industrial company. The sample consisted of persons who had experienced a Downsizing but have kept the employment, within a same position or being transferred to another one. Data consisted of two focus group interviews, analysed by an inductive thematic analysis. The results have indicated that emotional reactions changed over time as well the emotional regulation did during the different phases. The groups differed in emotional reaction related to the time of decision regarding the retention of employment.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka vilka motiv företag inom tre branscher redovisar och vilka strategier de använder vid Downsizing. Downsizing : Hur överlevare av uppsägningar påverkas av upplevelsen

In today?s business environment, cost-cutting practices such as Downsizing and layoffs remains a widespread phenomenon. Although, the understanding of the effects that these practices has on the remaining individuals, defined as the survivors, is poor. The focus in this paper is therefore to examine how survivors of layoffs can be affected on an individual level, and by what causes.The study was conducted using open-ended, qualitative interviews with three individuals with different experiences of layoffs. The empirical data was analyzed by extracting quotations from the interviews.The study found that layoffs affected the morale and attitude towards management of the individual, and that perceived justice and uncertainty are two causes of negative effects from layoffs..

OMSTÄLLNINGSBEREDSKAP - En kartläggning av omställningsberedskap i kommunala förvaltningar i Västra Götalandsregionen

The study focuses on mapping how well prepared the counties in the west region of Sweden is in case of restructuring. The study explores what kind of activities and routines that contributes to prepare the organization for restructuring. The study also aims to investigate the effect of precedent restructuring, and if the counties who experienced restructuring are more prepared than others.The research within the field of restructuring characterizes of an evaluating nature and the focus has been after the restructuring occurred. There have also been a lot of studies of the negative consequences on individual and organizational level. Since Downsizing is a frequently used method by management despite its consequences is it important to investigate how organizations can learn and thereby be more prepared for restructuring.

This has been a practical innovation graduation project withthe focus of studying the impacts of Downsizing on a learningorganization. The study took place at Karlsson Spools in Sala.This has been a part of an ongoing EU project funded by theEuropean Social Fund, ESF. We have, with the help ofinterviews and surveys, gathered information on the presentsituation and with the help of theoretical studies built aframework on how a learning organization is viewed intheory.During our study we found that there are many componentsto a learning organization. The company in question hasdisplayed some qualities that characterize a learningorganization such as a plan to train and further develop theiremployees. The problem we found was lack of communicationand how this has resulted in a less successful outcome of theongoing courses.

In the beginning of the nineties there was a change in how the voluntary sector was perceived, and the significance of their work became reevaluated and more acknowledged. As a result, this sector gained a new and higher interest. The changes and Downsizing in the welfare state with economic crises, due to political cutback, made the politicians look fore new solutions. One solution is to encourage cooperation between the public sector and the voluntary sector in order to handle the different needs of individuals.Uppsala community and the voluntary sector are working closely together within a project called ?God Livsmiljö?.

Karriärväxlande officerares kompetens och anställningsbarhet på civil arbetsmarknad.

The Downsizing of the Swedish armed forces during the late 20th century and early 21 th century has caused several thousand people to choose a different career. This undergraduate thesis investigates the self-observed employability and work-place competence of a number of Swedish armed forces officers who has made the transition to a civil career. The thesis seeks to answer questions about how the transition is comprehended, how military merits and competences are valued in civil work places and which differences in ability to use their competences the respondents experience. The study is made using qualitative interviews, which are analysed using a miexed method inspired by phenomenological method. The findings include that the essence of the respondents emplooyability is a shared work indentity as miltary officers and a common experienced problem in translating their merits.

Det avancerade klotterplanket: en studie av forum mot droger på Lunarstorm

This study is based on an observation of one of the biggest webcommunitys in Sweden today, called Lunarstorm. My main purpose was to research how young people use this media for talking about drug and alcohol-related subjects. The questions I posed were the following:- In which way do young people talk about drugs and alcohol on Lunarstorm?- What possibilities does Lunarstorm create for these questions?- How do the users relate to each other, regarding support for relatives to drug or alcohol-abusers or own substance use?My method of collecting empirical data consisted of observation of the forum, and my method for analyzing the data was based on a discourse- analysis. Trough this I found that the media creates a way for young people to meet others with similar problems, both grown-ups and people of the same age.

Folkbibliotekens demokratiuppdrag ? Hur ser de biblioteksanställda på det demokratiska uppdraget?

It is said that libraries are the cornerstones of democracy.What is then the democratic mandate, and how is itperceived by the library staff? That's what I examine in thismaster's thesis. I?ve made 14 phone interviews with librarystaff, from assistants to managers, and examined what theirdaily work routine looks like and what they think belongs tothe democratic mandate. I found that all agree that there is ademocratic mandate, but it is not clearly stated in anydocument.I found seven areas that my respondents saw as part of themandate; availability, diversity, children and young people,equality, public education, free of law and cultural history.These are not sharply defined, but can often move into oneanother.

Kommunikationen under en förändring kan utgöra framgång eller misslyckande beroende på hur den implementeras och hanteras. Budskapets innehåll och sättet kommunikationen sker på kan påverka hur budskapet uppfattas hos mottagaren. Intentionen med denna uppsats var att studera hur en ledningsgrupp kan försäkra sig om att ett budskap uppfattas av medarbetarna på ett för ledningsgruppen önskat sätt. Arbetet grundar sig på en fallstudie som vi utfört på institutionen för industriell ekonomi och samhällsvetenskap på Luleå tekniska universitet.

AbstractThe aim of this study was to illuminate and collect existing research from the beginning of the 21 st century about nurses work environment in institutional and elderly care in Sweden.A literature review was made by analyzing eleven scientific articles. The result showed mainly information about nurses work load. The information dealt with high work demands, too much responsibility, shortage of staff, time press and stress. Furthermore nurses reported a lack of co-operation between staff and management. An important part in nurses? work was appreciation from colleagues, management, patients and relatives.
