The demand for food, feed, fibre and fuel has increased in Uganda over the past 50 years due to population growth. Recurring extreme climate events such as drought and flooding, in combination with large-scale land degradation, have led to declining crop yields. Lack of equipment, money and socio-economic issues has contributed to low yields. However, the soils in Uganda have the potential to produce much higher yields than they do today. This study, which was carried out in April-June 2013 in Kkingo District, south-east Uganda, examined the effects of agroforestry on yield of cooking bananas in small-holder farming systems. Six farms practising agroforestry and six farms with no agroforestry, which were chosen in cooperation with the NGO Vi Agroforestry, were compared.

Det här examensarbetet behandlar överföringsfelet mellan cylindriska kugghjul och har gjorts på Volvo Construction Equipment AB Component Division i Eskilstuna. Överföringsfelet är det drivna kugghjulets läge i förhållande till det läge som det skulle ha om överföringen vore perfekt, antingen som vinkelavvikelse eller tangentiell avvikelse på delningsdiametern. Överföringsfelet anses vara en viktig excitationsmekanism för ljud från kugghjul. Examensarbetet behandlar fyra delar:- Litteraturstudie avseende mätning av överföringsfel.- Utveckling av provmetod för mätning av överföringsfel i befintlig kuggprovrigg.- Mätning av ljud, vibrationer och överföringsfel med utvecklad provmetod.- Undersökning av mätrepeterbarheten.Volvo CE konstruerar anläggnings maskiner. De som arbetar med sådana maskiner använder ofta maskinen under hela sin arbetsdag vilket gör att det ställs höga krav på förarmiljön.

Föreliggande uppsats har som syfte att ta reda på vilken syn elgitarrlärare på estetiska gymnasieprogram har kring förmedling av sound och utrustning och vilka metoder de tillämpar för att lyfta fram dessa moment i sin undervisning. Sound kan definieras på många sätt, men i detta arbete har det en innebörd av vilka klanger som olika instrument, förstärkare och diverse hjälpmedel kan producera. Målet är att ge nuvarande och blivande instrumentpedagoger en inblick i hur elgitarrlärare arbetar med dessa moment i undervisningen idag. Förhoppningen är även att studien ska kunna ge inspiration till att utveckla metoder och finna redskap som hjälper elever att skapa ett eget sound. Datamaterialet består av intervjuer med fem elgitarrlärare samt observationer av tre av dessa lärares gitarrlektioner.

The horse was domesticated about 6000 years ago. Since then humans have used the horse for different purposes, such as work force and in sports. Horses are social, group living animals that spend around 16-17 hours a day on grazing. Horses are often kept stabled in single boxes with a limited feeding time. The forage usually contains grain-based concentrates and roughage.

Today?s society is one where technological advances are made daily, which increases the need to stop and assess the risks against users? integrity when integrating new technology in contemporary systems all the greater. We have taken two technologies, Near Field Communication and Certified Wireless USB, whose envisioned area of use is to be integrated into mobile phones, and evaluated what security threats are revealed for the respective technologies. The threats against security have been identified through research of the standards and existing reports for each technology. Practical experiments have not been conducted on account of us not having access to any equipment to run such trials.

Deposits can be formed in the paper machine due to sticky materials from wood and recycled paper. These deposits get stuck on process equipment and cause the product quality to deteriorate and the efficiency of the paper machine is reduced. The purpose of this thesis is to increase the understanding about deposits among machine operators, and to suggest methods that can be used to reduce the amount of deposits formed in Bravikens paper machines.To fulfill the purpose of the thesis a pre-study, a literature review and interviews with machine operators and production staff, were carried out. These methods led to the planning and creation of an education about deposits for machine operators.The education about deposits for machine operators consisted of an interactive lecture to introduce the subject of deposits and a subsequent discussion. This approach was chosen to give the machine operators the opportunity to discuss their work situation on the paper machines related to their new knowledge about deposits.

ProblemThe manufacturing industry is a mature industry where the profit margins are small and the competition is hard. This makes it hard for both manufacturers and resellers to gain market shares and reach reasonable profit margins only by selling products. Therefore Swecon who is reseller for Volvo Construction Equipment tries to find alternative methods and ways to increase their profit. An alternative source of income could be to develop the range of services that are connected to the ground products.PurposeThe purpose of the thesis is to examine how Swecon in southern Sweden can improve their offers of existing services connected to the ground product and investigate the demand of new such services.MethodThis study is based on a qualitative study of five of Swecons local offices and five of Swecons customers. The empirical framework is mostly based on personal interviews but in some cases information was retrieved by using phone interviews.

For them it is essential that their crutches do not fail. ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) conducts ongoing work to guarantee the durability and function of e.g. crutches.

Det här examensarbetet har utförts på uppdrag av Stockholm Vatten AB och har bedrivits vid Norsborgs vattenverk i Botkyrka kommun utanför Stockholm. Syftet med arbetet har varit att ge underlag för minskning av organiskt material i dricksvattnet. Följande frågor besvaras:? Påverkar aktiverad kiselsyra reduktionen av organiskt material? Påverkar beredningen av den aktiverade kiselsyran reduktionen av organiskt material? Kan den aktiverade kiselsyran ersättas med aluminiumsulfat? Vilka effekter innebär en ersättning av aktiverad kiselsyra med aluminiumsulfatNorsborgs vattenverk tar råvatten från Mälaren och reningsprocessen innefattar mekanisk, kemisk och biologisk rening. I den kemiska reningen används aluminiumsulfat och aktiverad kiselsyra.

Probiotics is a special group of health products on the market. The most common type of  these is live cultures of lactic acid fermenting bacteria from raw milk . These include, among others, yogurt and various trademarks such as Hälsofil ®, Acidophilus ®, Dofilus ® and Kefir ®. Such products are often used by patients who are treated with antibiotics to combat the intestinal flora eliminated, thus causing digestive problems. The present work deals with yet another type of health product, viz.

Bakgrund: Vid operativa ingrepp finns en risk för överföring av smitta mellan personal och patienter. Lokala riktlinjer ska reglera användningen av personlig skyddsutrustning. Huvudskydd används för att hindra hår och partiklar att falla ner på sterilt område. Ögonskydd skyddar personalens ögonslemhinna mot stänk av kroppsvätskor och användandet av dubbla handskar minskar risk för blodsmitta vid stick- och skärskador.Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka preoperativa val av och motivering till val av huvudskydd, ögonskydd och handskar hos operatörer och operationssjuksköterskor. Metod: I en empirisk, deskriptiv studie med tvärsnittsdesign undersöktes val av och motivering till val av huvudskydd, ögonskydd och handskar. Operationssjuksköterskor och operatörer observerades och tillfrågades med stöd av ett strukturerat frågeformulär.Resultat: På två operationsavdelningar i Stockholms län utfördes 240 observationer.

This Master?s Thesis aims to investigate and assess the methods used to decrease the discharge ofmetals, primarily copper, from the water purification plant at Assa Industries plating factory inEskilstuna.Literature studies of the purification methods precipitation, ion exchange, evaporation, reverseosmosis and electrolysis has been done to appraise the adequacy of the technique. Thesetechniques are commonly used for purification of industrial waste water.Assa has four plating lines: the Trumline, the big Zinkline, the new Zinkline and the Decorativeline. The new Zinkline is the most modern of the four lines and purification is done byrecirculation over an ion exchange unit. The demand for fresh water is thereby heavily reduced.The Trumline, the big Zinkline and the Decorative line all use older techniques.

This thesis is a part of the project "Sustainable harvesting and storage of sugar beets, more sugar to practice". The work has included a large part of practical experimental work with weight measurement, graduation and storage planning. The aim of the project is to be able to see whether the cultivars react differently in different storage conditions. The project has included storage under controlled conditions to give as accurate results as possible. To be able to mimic the farmers own preconditions the samples was harvested with a conventional Holmer.This project has two parts, one concerning the nature, time and temperature on storage where a number of different cultivars where investigated during three different recording times, two different temperatures and controlled in a controlled environment.

Background: The demand for sending letters, in the traditional aspect, has decreased because of electronic sources which have replaced a big part of letter communication. The Postal Service constantly strives for lowering costs and due to the changeable demand, a greater awareness is required regarding recourses and their usage. The previously mentioned measures in combination with commonly occurring quality issues during the collective process at the letter terminal in Alvesta would be improved by applying a lean-perspective to the process. A first step towards saving of time is to apply the ?value stream mapping?-method on the collective process for small and large letters.Purpose: To map the process of collection for small and large letters to be able to identify waste of recourses and furthermore give suggestions on how the Postal Service would be able to reduce the waste of recourses identified.
