ABSTRACTThe aim of this study is to analyse if the UN today constructs the water issue as a security issue and to argue about in which way the organization in that case does so alternatively why it can be said that the UN doesn?t construct the water issue as a security issue.In order to reach this purpose the following questions will be answered:?Does the UN construct the water issue as a security issue today?-If yes, in which way?-If no, why can it be said that the organisation doesn?t?The methods used are qualitative literature studies of policy documents on water from the UN. The focus is to analyze the ideas about water and to apply my theory on the concept of security, which is Barry Buzan?s framework on security, to these ideas.The main results showed that the UN strongly constructs the water issue as an environmental security issue for environments and species and in relatively strong terms also constructs it as an environmental security issue for civilisations. In rare cases the organisation constructs it as a societal security issue, but the UN doesn?t construct the water issue as a military, political or economic security issue..

The purpose of the study was to review the current veterinary literature regarding gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV) considering pathophysiology and treatment, and to evaluate the operative technique (incisional gastropexy) used during the years 2005 and 2006 at the University Animal Hospital (Universitetsdjursjukhuset), SLU, Uppsala, Sweden. GDV has a complicated pathophysiology which foremost effects the circulatory system. Progress is often acute and it is not unusual that patients are affected with shock. The initial treatment targets to alleviate the shock by fluid therapy and decompression of the stomach. There is a high risk of recurrence in the long term perspective unless the stomach is surgically fixated by gastropexy. The study describes two different techniques for gastropexy; incisional gastropexy, and funduspexy. Long term complications were rare among the patients that were treated surgically, while about half out of the eighteen dogs that undergo surgery do experience complications of various severity in the short term..

The purpose of this essay is to analyze the view on sexuality held by Sweden?s first woman doctor Karolina Widerström, by using ideologycritical textanalysis on the written scriptures of dr. Widerström that focus on sexualpolitics. In doing this I use the theory of speech by Foucault. In this study I focus on Widerström?s scriptures, what she wrote about, how she wrote about it but also what she couldn't write due to the historical context and how omission can still speak of power.

Denna d-uppsats syfte är att förklara varför det existerar en kvinnorabatt gällande påföljder för vissa typer av våldsbrott. Enligt den tidigare gjorda forskning, tenderas kvinnor att särbehandlas när påföljden skall delas ut. Detta beror delvis på att de i högre grad uppfyller vissa förlåtande parametrar såsom minskad risk för återfall, oftare vårdnad om barnen samt minskad skada vid våldshandlingar vilket i sin tur leder till annan bedömning och lindrigare påföljder. En annan förklaringsmodell till denna divergens är olika könsrollsteorier som proklamerar att synen på vad som betraktas som manligt respektive kvinnligt ligger bakom denna åtskillnad i påföljder. Tre stycken kvalitativa intervjuer genomfördes med en åklagare, domare och advokat för att få tre skilda synpunkter på samma fenomen.

This essay will focus on the people using and are involved in, and have a large interest in the horror film genre. The purpose of this essay is to find what urge these people to continuously watch horror movies and how they believe to be acknowledge by the society in a modern sense. Our study is mainly based on two separate interviews and therefore, mainly from the users perspective. This essay is also complemented by earlier research on this topic. In context of stigma, violence debate, exclusion we found that the users truly can be found in a rare type of alternative sphere, besides the public sphere.

Few rectory gardens are today remaining in their former design and the cultural heritage that they represent are disappearing. Since 1987-88 the parishes are no longer bound to keep housing for their priests, which means that they, for economical reasons, are starting to sell their rectories. With this in mind, a group of people, growing up in rectories in Småland and Öland between the 1930th and 1950th, formed an interest group to save the memory of their rectory gardens. On the basis of their memories, they have written a couple of descriptions of the rectories, which describe the gardens content, design and the life they once lived there. With this compilation of the 14 rectory gardens I want to keep the memory of them and create a ground for future work in this field. Historically the rectory gardens played an important roll as patterns and examples in the countryside.

This study examines some students? attitudes towards mathematics in grade 2-4. When studying students? attitudes questionnaires and interviews are often being used as methods. In this study we used a more rare method.

Ett offentligt uppköpserbjudande definieras i 1 kap. 2 § 1p. Lag (2006:451) om offentliga uppköpserbjudanden på aktiemarknaden (LUA) så som ett offentligt erbjudande till innehavare av aktier som har getts ut av ett svenskt eller utländskt aktiebolag att överlåta samtliga eller en del av dessa aktier. Innan ett offentligt uppköpserbjudande lämnas vill den potentiella budgivaren som regel genomföra en due diligence-undersökning på målbolaget. Syftet med denna uppsats är att söka fastslå (1) om det föreligger en skyldighet för målbolaget att medge en due diligence-undersökning, (2) under vilka omständigheter denna eventuella skyldighet föreligger samt (3) vilka sanktioner som står till buds för aktieägarna då en eventuell skyldighet inte efterföljs.

Genom kvalitativa intervjuer och observationer har jag underso?kt deras olika metoder.

The aim of this master thesis is to study if the websites of the Swedish public libraries are accessible to all people. According to the library law all people must have access to the public libraries and their information services. Today, when the Internet is one of the largest sources of information, it is important that all people, including those with different kind of disabilities, children, elderly, immigrants and people with old technical equipment, have access to the public libraries websites.We have in this study considered the graphic user interface, the language, the structure and the navigation possibilities at ten public library websites. We have from a checklist of our own, based upon the opinion of different experts such as Jacob Nielsen and Tommy Sundström, investigated the websites.The main finding of our study is that the websites are generally accessible even thou we found a lack of accessible for immigrants. Most of the websites had some pages in English, but none hade all pages in this language.

A trend in modern landscape architecture is to design pedestrian streets so that vehicles and people move in the same area. By doing this, traffic tends to slow down. On the market though, there is a lack of furniture that corresponds to the requirements of these kinds of public places. Therefore, I have designed this furniture, called VOX, which is planned to be used on streets, schoolyards and squares. One objective has been to promote the product to the industry.To achieve this, I have been in contact with people from different professions, which have all influenced my designprocess.
