Beyond the binary borders of sex -A LITTERATURE STUDY ABOUT TRANSGENDER THEORY AND ITS POSSIBLE CONTRIBUTION TO A SOCIAL WORK CONTEXT. GERGANA TOSEVA KARIN SELIN A thesis in Social work studies (15 credits) at Malmö University, Hälsa och Samhälle 2012. The discussion about sex and gender is always prominent in a social work context. Our purpose and questions are hence based on the discussion on transgender theory and the way of thinking about the non-binary, and how it relates to the nearby theories. The method of the essay consists of a semi systematic literature overview with the focus on discussing transgender theory in relation to other theories and perspectives, such as modernism, post modernism, feminism and queer theory. We answer the following questions: 1. Is it possible to go beyond or exceed the binary of sex and if so, how do we see it in the material we examined? 2. In what way are the existing theories of sex / gender in the binary? 3. Can one featuring a female embodied subject be of assistance to transgender people's search for an embodied subject? We consider it possible to move beyond the binary by using ?fuzzy logic?(Nagoshi & Brzuzy 2010, Tauchert 2002) which is a way of staying in the binary but expanding the term and work in the grey areas instead.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine how health information is integrated into knowledge in an everyday health related context on the web. The more specific aim is, from a LIS point of view, to map knowledge related discourses with the focus on pregnancy, in Discussion forums on Swedish health related web sites. The following main questions in this paper are: (1) a) What discourses on pregnancy knowledge can be found and b) how are they expressed? (2) What are the functions of the recognised discourses? and (3) what are the relations between the identified discourses? The theoretical and methodological starting-point is discourse theory with the main focus on discursive psychology according to Wetherell?s and Potter?s theoretical and empirical work.

Ett samarbetscenter i urban miljö Detta examensarbete fokuserar på utformningen av ett samarbetscenter beläget i urban miljö. Hur det kan integreras med omgivande bebyggelse och grön-struktur och vilken fysisk karaktär det ska ta. Vidare behandlas vilka byggnader som skall finnas i anslutning, vilka aktiviteter som ska utövas samt vilken form dessa ska ta. Utöver själv utformningen har omfattande arbete lagts ner på visualisering och presentation. Samarbetscenter Malmös syfte är att fungera som ett forum för äventyrsbaserad pedagogik och samarbetsinlärning.

Syftet med arbetet var att studera hur pedagoger diskuterade kring högläsning och hur de arbetade med denna. Undersökningen var menad att uppmärksamma pedagoger om sin egen verksamhet och förmåga att utveckla den. Jag använde mig av enskilda intervjuer följt av videoobservationer som underlag för uppföljningsintervjuer. Slutligen användes gruppintervju för att arbetslaget skulle få ett gemensamt forum för diskussion kring eventuella förändringar av verksamheten. Undersökningen visade att det infann sig ett reflekterande hos pedagogerna kring deras verksamhet kring högläsning.

This paper aims to describe and elaborate on a recent discursive change within the new-age movement. Since the seventies and the publishing of speculative popular science books like The Tao of Physics by Fritjof Capra and The self-aware universe by Amit Goswami, the idea that quantum physics resonates with spirituality has become the topic of hundreds of books and movies.The quantum-spiritual discourse has three distinct ways to approach quantum physics in its discussion on spirituality: The parallelistic approach which emphasizes the similarities between eastern philosophies and modern physics, the monistic-idealistic approach which tells us that mind is the foundation of matter and the scientific spiritual approach which tries to explain spiritual claims scientifically. In the quantum-spiritual discourse, quantum physical phenomena (e.g. non-locality and entanglement) are being called upon to validate metaphysical statements. The primary assumption of the discourse is that the shift of paradigm due to the establishment of modern physics also is a shift of paradigm of spirituality.With the object to examine the common claims made in the discourse, cross-references between spiritual arguments and facts of quantum physics are being made.

Föreliggande uppsats undersöker hur kvinnor som utsatts för våld i en parrelation kan få styrka och en chans till läkande genom kommunikation på Internetforum med kvinnor i samma situation. Detta ställer jag i relation till socialtjänsten och välfärdssystemet där jag undersöker hur kvinnor som utsatts för våld av en man i en parrelation uppfattar och upplever det bemötande de får av samhället.I uppsatsen lägger jag relationen mellan den hjälpsökande kvinnan och socialtjänsten i ett feministiskt och genusvetenskapligt perspektiv samt har fokus på berättandets dynamiska och eventuellt läkande kraft för dessa kvinnor i forum..

Background The aim of palliative care is to improve the quality of life for both the patient and her next of kin during the patient?s end of life. Palliative care rests on the four cornerstones managing symptoms, communication and relationship, teamwork and relative support. The nurses? task is to assess the patients? physical, mental and spiritual needs according to these four cornerstones.Aim To assess nurses? experiences of treating patients at the end of life.Method Eleven academic journals that respond to the aim has been analyzed and synthesized in a literature review in order to summarize current research on the subject.

Management by contract is nowadays a common method within the public sector since the NPM overtook as paradigm with its mechanisms of control inspired by the private sector. The public agency is foremost a service provider where they interact with citizens in the service process. Swedish eldercare has significantly increased its expose to competition which means that eldercare can be executed not only by the municipalities own provider. Such an adaption increases the requirements to inspect quality and how the purchasers assure goal achievement by control. The outmost liability stays with the municipality to ensure that the service produces god care since their position as the service purchaser implies the responsibility to plan, precise and evaluate the required work that the executor has to accomplish.

This bachelor thesis is based on interviews with staff from three Egyptian NGOs in Cairo during the spring of 2013. The study examines how three Egyptian NGOs discuss the woman?s situation within the Islamic legal discourse in the contemporary Egypt. The empiric material was analysed through a theoretical framework of gender in Islam, and a discussion of the concept of human rights laws in a local context.The respondents emphasize the societies gender stereotypes as obstacles in the discussion regarding women?s rights.

Ett av vattendirektivets mål är att engagera allmänheten i vattenplaneringsprocesser. I Sverige försöker man på många platser uppnå detta genom att bilda vattenråd för de lokala vattenförekomsterna. Det finns en osäkerhet kring hur exakt dessa ska fungera och frågan är om de verkligen är lösningen på medborgarengagemanget. Med hjälp av en enkät som skickats ut till ett vattenråd önskar den här studien ge underlag för att diskutera och om möjligt ge svar på om vattenråd är lösningen på hur allmänheten ska engageras. Utöver den stora frågan diskuteras även hur kommunikationen fungerar inom vattenrådet och mellan vattenrådet och några olika aktörer samt vilken roll vattenrådets samordnare har.

Abstract The subject of this thesis is the priority rules that apply in connection with mining activity. Already back in the 1800s, there were rules in the so-called Lego Charter concerning protection of workers, mainly servants. When the first modern trade union was founded in the 1870s, also developed a collective agreement. These agreements were the order of priority clauses had to intend to ensure employees' working lives. Exceptions had to be done by ensuring that individual employees' dependents. In 1974 the Act on employment entry and had intended to protect older workers.

In the fall 2011 a new grading scale will be implemented in the Swedish school. A government bill suggests a change of the scale from a three- to a six-point scale. The students will also be graded from the sixth class instead of today?s eighth. From the first year of the compulsory school the pupil will get a written judgment.

In recent years more and more people have been sick-listed due to stress and it has happened to more women than men. The purpose of this paper is to see if recoveringfrom stress related states of ill-health can be promoted through participation in a stress management course. Five women who were or had been sick-listed and had participated in the life management course were interviewed. The results show that the course was an important forum for expressing emotions. The participants were more positive about the future after than before they entered the course.
