My study focuses on how heterosexuality became, and still is, the norm for sexuality in Namibia. My aim is to through interviewing young academics from University of Namibia and by using Discourse analysis, queer- and postcolonial theory, try to find out how these young academics perceive sexuality. My findings are that my respondents perceive heterosexuality to be natural, normal and given by god, and that they perceive homosexuality to be ?a big no-no?. There are certain institutions in the Namibian society that regulates how the Namibian people thinks about sexuality, and my findings are that these are Christianity, culture, family, government, and the traditional picture of a good man and a good woman.

This Master's thesis explores representations of sexual agency in contemporary, Swedish novels for young adults. Using a representational theory approach the thesis analyzes 24 novels published in 2000 ? 2013. Addressing the following research questions: how is sexual agency constructed and regulated relative to gender performativity in Swedish novels for young adults? How are situations of sexual abuse and sexual ?grey zones? (situations that border on abuse) represented and being made intelligible in the texts? What are the consequences of representations of sexual agency? In the readings of the novels Discourse analysis and theories on cultural representation and power have served as the critical points of entry, as well as the methodological basis for the study.

In Shop! Daniel Svensson is studying the Public Consume Conversation during the 90´s. Focus is based on two local papers in the Swedish town Norrköping and the Public Media Conversation, which these two represent. What kind of Discourses has been dominating this conversation, that is the most important question in Shop! To answer this, Daniel Svensson uses the Critical Discourse Analysis, by Norman Fairclough, as an analytic tool. This method provides him with the possibility to connect the micro level of text with the macro level of the society. But this demands theories of the contemporary society at a macro level.

Is Försäkringskassan, one of Sweden?s largest organizations, an equal place to work in? Dosex, ethnical background or age matter when being treated by colleagues and managers?In this thesis I try to, through interviews with both the Human Resources-departement andsome administrators at Försäkringskassan, find the answers to how the organization?s internalwork regarding equality functions. To help me with the analysis I use both Discourse theoryand gender theory. I find a discrepancy between the Human Resources-department?s and theadministrators? view of how the internal equality work is run.

Shelters and Nuclear weaponsA Discourse analysis of the Swedish defense and civil defense debate during the Cold warSweden during the Cold War set into motion one of the world?slargest civil defense policies at the time, second only to neutral Switzerland. The governments expenditure was far greater per capita than both that of USA and Soviet Union and included massive evacuation plans for Stockholm and other large cities in Sweden, with the hopeful expectation to bring down the amount of people in each of them to 15000 in case of a foreign hostile nuclear attack. The policies included construction of shelters with room for 2,5 million of about 7 million citizens in total at the time along with gasmasks for the whole population. Not only this, Sweden was considered one of the biggest military powers of that time in relation to its size and population.

This article evaluates the narrative and it´s didactic role in historiographic textbooks for schools. The primary study is a comparing qualitative analysis of the narrative in the different textbooks. The result leads to a pedagogical discussion based on Kieran Egans theories about cognitive tools, and how they shape our comprehension. The theoretical background defining and discussing narrative as a concept is partly based on a semiotic view, part linguistic. The main conclusion of the work is how the narrative seems to be a product of Discourse in the ways the textbooks differ at the most from each other; Broken down, how the role of the writer and the reader and their conception of the world take part I a significant comprehension of the stories told in history textbooks..

SammanfattningDen här undersökningen handlar om hur svenska massmedier, i det här fallet dags- och kvällstidningar, framställer våldtäkt i sin nyhetsrapportering. Artiklarna är utvalda från två olika fall som blev omskrivna i svensk press. Utifrån bland annat filosofen Michel Foucaults diskursteori och med ett socialkonstruktivistiskt och genusviklat perspektiv analyseras en rad artiklar med hjälp av diskursanalys. De teoretiker som använts är bland andra Norman Fairclough.Med diskursanalysens hjälp synliggörs de underliggande betydelserna av en till synes oskyldig nyhetsrapportering. Dessa jämförs sedan med en social kontext som utgörs av en redan utförd undersökning om ungdomars förståelse av våldtäkt.

Banks and their products are traditionally characterized as high involvement, informational purchases and as such there is a need to shape the market communication to be logical and catering to the need for information that customers are bound to have. With the advent of social media and web 2.0 a company can no longer opt out of the online Discourse regarding their company. As social medias are characterized by being an active media, tailored to personal exchanges and opinions, the match with the high involvement approach that banks usually have to employ is not always ideal. We have examined what happens when banks use different degrees of personal message content and sender profiles on Twitter. Our findings suggest that while some strategies generate higher WOM intentions, others may provide a greater level of sender credibility..

It examines the narration and the use of music as a narrative device to discuss questions about identification and perception through close textual analysis. Jag har främst gjort en retorisk analys av materialet utifrån Lennart Hellspongs bok Metoder för brukstextanalys. I kombination med den retoriska analysen har jag även valt att använda Teun van Dijks bok Elite Discourse and racism för att få en breddare förståelse av materialet. A person does not want to risk damaging its reputation which makes the dominant group forced to use various strategies to reproduce its dominance.

How do men who define themselves as feminists create and maintain an identity as men? In this qualitative study four men involved in feminist organizations were interviewed about their views on women, men, sex and feminism. Theories of language, psychoanalysis and ethics were utilized to further our understanding of the material these men produce in their effort to define themselves. Our object of study is the text, which we believe holds the key to understanding how an individual shapes his world and himself. The result is our interpretation of the text and its underlying mechanics.
