LIKHET ELLER SKILLNAD? : Om hur ambassadörer för UNICEF i Sverige representeras i relation till barn/?de Andra? utifrån könade och rasifierade diskurser om bistånd

This essay aims to examine what subject positions are possible within the Discourse of relationship anarchy. Through semi-structured interviews with four people who define themselves as relationship anarchists I've made a Discourse analysis to determine how these relationship anarchists explain what, in the Discourse they?re in, is described as an relationship anarchistic way of being, what isn?t and how they relate to this. Relationship anarchy is described as an ideology based on freedom. It is about the right to define their relationships as they like, as something constantly changing and that does not hold a specific value based on its label.

Webbaserade kurser - traditionell förmedlingsundervisning i ny förpackning? En undersökning av den pedagogiska diskursen i webbaserad användarundervisning

This Master?s thesis examines library courses, a relatively new form of user education. Our focus is on the pedagogical point-of-views reflected in the text in these library courses. The primary purpose of the study is to analyze the pedagogical Discourse displayed in the library courses to determine if the perspective is behavioural, cognitive, constructive or socio cultural. We are investigating if the pedagogical Discourse differs from course to course, and if so, how are they different? In addition we aim to find out how the pedagogical Discourse in the library courses relates to university websites and governmental and legal texts, at the discursive and social practice level.

Bibliotekarieutbildningen vid BHS 1977 t.o.m 1999 En diskursteoretisk studie

The aim of this master thesis is to investigate changes within four Discourses identified in the curriculum material of the Swedish library education in Borås Bibliotekarielinjen dating from 1977 and 1985 and its successor Library and Information Science Biblioteks- och informationsvetenskap dating from 1995, 1999. My method used is a text analytic method primarily derived from the Discourse theory of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe, yet with addition of tools from the critical Discourse analysis of Fairclough. By identifying three floating signifiers within the material, i.e information, library, and librarian, and thereafter identifying their fixation, a pattern of resemblance and diversity in the fixating signs appeared between different courses of the curriculum dating from 1999. Hence I could establish an order of Discourse consisting of four library Discourses, a knowledge organisation Discourse, a user Discourse, a society Discourse and a management Discourse. Using this discursive order as a pattern, I could trace these four Discourses back in time within the material dating from 1995, 1985 and 1977.

Språkets roll för integration : en studie om de diskurser som riksdagspartierna och forskare konstituerar

The purpose of this essay was to examine the role of the acquisition of the Swedish language for integration of adult immigrants given by the seven parties currently in the parliament and other players on the field. The questions were meant to bring light upon the arguments used by the different players concerning the role of the Swedish language, to enlighten which Discourses that are constructed, and the contradictions that exist between these. We parted from a postmodern position and used social constructionism to back up our method and theory of analysis; Discourse theory. The results revealed three different Discourses concerning the role of the Swedish language in the integration process; the liberal Discourse, the discrimination Discourse and the social democratic Discourse. The liberal Discourse claims that immigrants have a responsibility to learn Swedish to be able to achieve employment and to provide for themselves.

Skämtlekar och Elvis Presleyskivor - ett sätt att få kontakt med ungdomar. Diskurser om ungdomar och ungdomsverksamhet i Biblioteksbladet 1916-2005

The aim of this essay is to examine different Discourses concerning adolescents and library youth services that can be identified in the material. 73 articles from the Swedish library journal, Biblioteksbladet, were analysed trough a model. The different articles were all published between 1916 and 2005. The analysis revealed a result that consists of four Discourses about adolescents and youth services at different libraries between 1916 and 2005: the library as fostering Discourse, a new era Discourse, the visiting activities Discourse and the young adult Discourse. The library as fostering Discourse is based on the idea that the library itself doesnt need to change the service to adolescents, instead the adolescents are supposed to change into good library users.

Bibliotekariebilder i dagens platsannonser. En diskursanalys.

The aim of this Masters thesis is to examine the librarian Discourses that can be identified in the job advertisements of today, to examine how the Discourses differ and also how these Discourses might influence the librarian profession and its status. The method of investigation is a qualitative analysis of printed sources, using Ernesto Laclaus and Chantal Mouffes Discourse theory as well as the theory of professions as a theoretical base. The thesis shows that two Discourses can be identified in job advertisements for 2004, one public librarian Discourse and one scientific librarian Discourse. The major difference between the two Discourses are work tasks where the public librarian Discourse very often contains areas of responsibility and development work, whereas the scientific librarian Discourse often contains administrative work tasks. Other differences include a great demand for driving licences and an interest in children and youth in the public librarian Discourse, something which is not asked for at all in the scientific librarian Discourse where there is a great demand for knowledge of languages instead.
