The aim of this essay is to try to gain understanding and to get a more profound knowledge of suicide. The questions at issue were 1) What empirical factors are mentioned in the research as possible to explain suicide. 2) Which theoretical perspectives are discussed in research concerning suicide. To answer our questions at issue we carried out a selective research overview with a qualitative perspective. The primary documents that has been the foundation of this essay is constituted by nine of the leading researchers publications in the area of suicidology.

Whether use of affirmative action can be justified is an ethical dilemma that hasbeen intensely debated. The question raises several conflict Dimensions. Thepurpose of this thesis is to separate different arguments of the debate and classifywhich principles they are built upon. To accomplish this, an analytical instrumentis created where three different perspectives of equality, and deontology versusconsequentialism, are compared. A third conflict Dimension, individual versusgroup ethical principles, is also considered.

Uppsatsarbetets syfte är att ur ett elevperspektiv öka kunskapen om vad användande av digitala hjälpmedel som didaktiska redskap kan innebära för elevernas lärande i textilslöjd och musik. Frågor om hur lärare och elever tänker om och upplever användandet av digitala hjälpmedel i undervisningen i textilslöjd och musik samt vilka för- respektive nackdelarna kan vara med att använda dem ställs i studien. Bakgrunden till studien är erfarenheter av elevgrupper med en stor andel elever med särskilda behov som koncentrationssvårigheter och låg motivation till skolarbete. För att uppnå syftet har lärare och elever som använder digitala hjälpmedel i de estetiska skolämnena observerats och intervjuats. Empirin har sedan analyserats med hjälp av två teorier om lärande, multimodalt lärande och olika lärstilar. Att digitala hjälpmedel kan ge undervisningen en ytterligare Dimension, motivera eleverna och ger dem fler sätt att både ta till sig och uttrycka kunskap på kan ses som de viktigaste resultaten av studien.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the possibilities for shore side electricity in the ports of Västerås and Köping. A technical solution to connect the vessels to the local grid is suggested and the investigation is also aiming at an understanding of how the environment is affected by the use of shore side electricity. Furthermore, the costs of shore side electricity are considered.The maximum power demand of a vessel visiting the ports today is relatively small, but the ships visiting the ports in the future might have a larger power demand. The suggested Dimension for the system is 5 MW and the result shows that the shore side electricity requires the power distribution to the ports to be expanded. The most useful solution in the ports is to connect the ships with 12 kV from a connection box in a pit at the quay.The investigation of the costs shows that it is cheaper for the ships to use electricity compared to the marine fuel.

This study investigates the potential of a rhetorical theory of knowledge to expand beyond its own domain and into political theory, specifically theories of deliberative democracy. Despite the increasing interest in communication in democratic theory in the last decades, the majority of theorists have not turned their interest towards rhetorical science. On the contrary, theorists often regard rhetoric as dangerous and incompatible with the deliberative ideal of reason. The aim of this study is therefore to defend rhetorical science by investigating how the rhetorical theory of knowledge ? as it is presented by Chaïm Perelman and Oldbrecht Tyteca, and further developed by Mats Rosengren and Maria Wolrath Söderberg ? can contribute to the understanding of deliberative democracy.

This essay is about power in the classroom. It is about the power Dimension of the student-teacher relationships that arise in that space. The overall aim has been to investigate which categories are fruitful in a power analysis of these relationships. My aim has therefore been to develop power categories and to use them to identify and to categorise cases of power interaction that take place between those particular actors in that particular setting.In order to gather material for my study I have both read literature that approaches the study of the student-teacher relationships from a power perspective and done a series of observations in a high school.My theoretical frame comprises a concept of power and a series of power categories. These categories include strength, authority, inducement, coercion, violence, resistance as well as to possess power, to have power, to exert power, the scope of power and the base of power.

The thesis is aiming to investigate what happens in the customer-service worker interaction when the service worker is wearing religious attributes. In order to operationalize this the Muslim head scarf, hijab, is chosen as stimuli. Reviewing previous research and theory in this field, it is clear that people have a preference for people that they perceive to be like themselves, this is referred to as homophily. Further on, the study investigates the ethnicity Dimension of the service worker customer interaction. Theoretical areas of attractiveness and color are also investigated.

The aim of thisthesis is to examine the political strategy and governmental activities of ElSalvador with the purpose to include emigrants in the nation building project. Themain question is what consequences this has for the significance of citizenship.This case study is based on the theoretical framework of external citizenshipwhich is a new fenomena emanating from states growing interest of theirexpanding diaspora. It divides external citizenship in two parts; a legal Dimensionand a practiced identity.I find that as the economic potential of salvadoreans abroad increase, theSalvadorean government makes institutional changes to tie emigrants to thenationstate. This results in the possibility for salvadoreans to remain citizens intheir country of origin, practicing their salvadorean identity at the same time asthey naturalize abroad.

AbstractTransitionell rättvisa behandlar frågan om hur man har ställt sig till förbrytare i en tidigare ordning. Här jämförs fyra länders lösningar till denna problematik, Kambodja, Rwanda, Guatemala och Sierra Leone. Ambitionen är att förklara varför dessa olika val har gjorts.Artikelns teoretiska utgångspunkt är kopplad till Huntingtons transitions-former. I artikelns centrum står dock en maktbalanshypotes, som hämtar inspiration från snarlika studier av bland andra Sriram och Lanegran. Dessa bygger på antaganden om att det är maktförhållanden mellan parterna i konflikten som avgör vilka lösningar som överhuvudtaget är genomförbara.

This degree project has been performed with Mega Teknik AB in Landskrona. The project has resulted in a workplace for the cable installers of Mega Teknik. The workplace contains a workbench and a cart.The first stage in this project was to make an analysis of the current workplace to identify the needs the installers had.The different principle construction proposals of how the workbench would look like and which functions it would have was made during brainstorming, in groups and alone. These proposals were compared against each other using a functional analysis that has been put up to get the principle construction that fulfilled most points in this analysis.The proposal chose for further work was a cart and a bench with a module intends, the table got a formulation that creates a better reach for the installers.This proposal was generated in Catia V5 to get a better overview of the suggested proposal.During the primary structure phase drawings over all the products were made and the components were chosen. Calculations were made and the product got the Dimension required.

Historiskt sett har lövsågverk i Sverige haft dålig lönsamhet och få studier över konstadsfördelningen har gjorts. Syftet med detta arbete är därför att kartlägga ett lövsågsverks kostnader och intäkter för att kunna göra beräkningar på vilken produktion som krävs för att sågverket ska bli lönsamt.Två provsågningar genomfördes för att få svar på utbytet i sågverkets klingsåg respektive bandsåg. Uppgifter om sågverkets kostnader och intäkter togs fram med hjälp av personal på sågverket. Provsågningarna visade att sågutbytet i klingsågen var 24,3 % och 62 % i bandsågen. Några av anledningarna till det låga utbytet i klingsågen var att endast en Dimension tillverkades, brädor som inte höll kvalitetskraven flisades upp och att marginalerna för virkets krympning i torkprocessen var onödigt tilltagna.

Autonomi är ett etiskt begrepp och etiken återfinns alltid som en Dimension i omvårdnaden. En specifik del av omvårdnaden är vårdrelationen där fenomenet autonomi synliggörs. För att som sjuksköterska kunna ge omvårdnad på ett underbyggt och reflekterat sätt anser vi att innebörder i begreppet autonomi bör belysas. Syftet med denna uppsats är att belysa innebörder i begreppet autonomi för att därmed få en fördjupad förståelse av och kunskap av autonomi som fenomen i en vårdrelation. Begreppets innebörder belystes genom att identifiera dess karaktäristika, antecendenter och konsekvenser.

The purpose of this study is to make a close and critical scrutiny of the EU Lisbon Strategy and the assumption of `sustainable growth´. A basic question is to clarify what is meant by `sustainability´ in the economic and the environmental Dimension respectively, and also, to analyse the meaning of `sustainable growth´. Secondly, I try to investigate the relationship between the economical and environmental Dimensions of the strategy. Are the goals of the Dimensions compatible and mutually supporting or are they conflicting? By illuminating these issues the study moves towards a final set of questions: What are the arguments that encourage or counteract the Lisbon assumption of `sustainable growth´? Is the European Union approaching `sustainable growth´ looking at different economical and ecological indicators? What are the prospects for the Lisbon Strategy as a way towards global `sustainable development´?.

This discursive policy study has its starting point in the criticism of the Swedish gender-equality policy is depoliticised. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Swedish gender-equality policy was problematised and designed during the 2000s. The purpose of this paper is also to investigate whether the Swedish gender-equality policy can be defined as a depoliticised policy or not. The research questions of this study are: What´s the problem of gender-equality represented to be in the specifics policies and what effects are produced of this representation? Can gender policy, as it is designed in the various policy documents, be understood as a depoliticised policy, in the sense that sex is not articulated on the basis of a conflict Dimension?To find the answer of theese questions I use the method ?Whats´s the problem represented to be", which is an inductive approach where the researcher sets selected questions to its material.
