The depth-to-water-index (DTW-index) is derived from digital elevation models (DEM) to map soil wetness, in terms of distance from soil surface to the ground water table. The aim of this GIS based study was to investigate the existence of a relationship between DTW-index and forest site productivity (SP). The belief of such an assumed relationship was based on knowledge that the ground water level is related to site properties that can either promote or impede tree growth. Data primarily comprised rasters of the Krycklan catchment in northern Sweden and depicted DTW-index and a laser scanned vegetation height. The 100th height percentile of each pixel in the vegetation raster was assumed to mirror the top-height, letting it act as a relative measure of SP within a delineated area of equal stand age.

Bakgrund: Den snabba utvecklingen i samhället har lett fram till ett interaktivt/digitalt och mobilt kommunikationssamhälle. Digitala lärverktyg blir allt mer förekommande i skolan och vikten av en god digital kompetens för både elever och pedagoger har ökat. Syfte: Syftet är att undersöka hur verksamma lärare undervisar elever i behov av särskilt stöd med hjälp av digitala lärverktyg och hur de förmedlar kunskaper kring digital kompetens. På vilket sätt undervisas elever i behov av särskilt stöd i skolan kring digitala lärverktyg och digital kompetens? Hur syns detta i undervisningen och i de dokument som skolan använder sig av? På vilket sätt integreras digitala lärverktyg för att gynna lärandet, kommunikation och delaktighet gällande skolbaserade kunskaper?Teori: Studien utgår ifrån sociokulturell teori för att skapa ett teoretiskt perspektiv på den verklighet som studeras.

Det har blivit allt vanligare att vi idag använder våra mobila enheter till att besöka webben. I detta examensarbete undersöks vilka centrala designprinciper en designer bör eftersträva när avsikten är att förenkla användningen av en webbplats i en statisk och en rörlig situation via den mobila enheten. Examensarbetet innefattar en litteraturgenomgång, observationsintervjuer vid två tillfällen och en prototyputveckling. Det första intervjutillfället identifierade de grundläggande designprinciperna som sedan stod till grund för prototypen. Det andra intervjutillfället genomfördes mot prototypen med samma individer.

Syftet är att försöka förstå vilka och teoretiskt belysa hur elever och lärarstudenter har lärt sig att behärska och utvecklat digitala mediekompetenser och -färdigheter. Undersökningsmetoden är källanalys och deltagande observation av tre genomförda skolutvecklingsprojekt i temagruppen Film och medier i lärarutbildning och skolutveckling inom Ung Kommunikation under tidsperioden hösten år 2007 till och med våren år 2009. Det är en kvalitativt genomförd kunskapsredovisning av vilka digitala mediekompetenser lärarstudenter och elever har tillägnat sig och projekten har även betraktats utifrån ett sociokulturellt teoriperspektiv. Resultatredovisningen av projekten Relationsfilmer på Teleborg Centrum, Värdegrundtema på Kungsmadskolan och Travelling through the World ger sammantaget vid handen att både lärarstudenter och elever har utvecklat ibland delvis olika digitala mediekompetenser och -färdigheter. Lärarstudenter har även varit verksamma som handledare och härigenom bidragit till att elever mer än de själva har utvecklat egna digitala mediekompetenser och -färdigheter..

With recent technical development computer aided design and manufacturing has taken amore important role in the product life cycle. New business segments such as Product/ServiceSystems and remanufacturing is emerging. This development demands better control of theproduct data throughout the entire product life cycle. Computer aided design is widelyrecognized and used within the manufacturing industries and in recent years the importance ofDigital manufacturing has increased. One part of Digital manufacturing is paperlessproduction which involves all orders and working instruction shown for example on a screenrather than on a piece of paper.

Traditional retouching, where you make the body of a female model in a magazine thinner, has been common for a long time and is well known. Several studies indicates that showing ultra-thin images of female bodies in media can lower the body satisfaction of ?ordinary? women which in some cases can lead to dangerous eating disorders. But in 2010 Swedish female magazine VeckoRevyn introduced a new type of retouching: Making some catwalk models bodies bigger instead, which we decided to call opposite retouching. This kind of retouching is aiming to widen the ideal picture that is sent out of how the female body should look like, and therefore having the readers reach a higher body satisfaction and becoming more at peace with the own body.

The need for snow-free surfaces at squares, bus stops, platforms, car parks and sports facilities increases and at the same time energy price rise and the environment is becoming a hotter issue. The construction of the ground heating systems often lack thermal insulation under the heating pipes, which means that the heat from the pipes not only warm up the soil surface but also heats the surrounding soil. The insulation also has more features, by insulating the risk of frost damage is minimized. The goal of this report is to demonstrate the large heat loss and energy costs in the absence of insulation under the heating system.The report begins with a scientific way to study and treating the soil heating system uses, and the theory involved. Furthermore it also deals with different routing principles of heat pipes depending on the facility.All calculations are made with so called finite element method (FEM), in COMSOL Multiphysics 3,5a, where models are created with different conditions.

Learning Management Systems (LMSs) hold great potential to support learning activities, for example by providing teachers and students with new and extended spaces for interaction and collaboration. However, this potential appears to be difficult to realize, and despite their perceived learning benefits, the reality is that LMSs are being used primarily for administrative purposes. Meanwhile, external pedagogical tools are successfully put into practice to improve learning outcomes, and the aim of this study is therefore to identify and discuss benefits and disadvantages associated with the LMS as a concept. By interviewing secondary school teachers, we disentangle the idea of integrating administrative and pedagogical aids into a single platform, providing detailed insight into the use of digital tools in secondary education. The study contributes to a deepened understanding of integrated learning environments, and we conclude that there is a conflict between structure and flexibility that needs to be addressed before determining the design of a digital learning space..

Nedladdningen av musik, övergången från en konkret produkt till en immateriell tjänst och ständigt förändrade beteendemönster hos musikanvändare i den digitala miljön har resulterat i en hel del problematik för leverantörer och distributörer samt föranlett stora ekonomiska förluster. Men förändringarna har också gynnat och bidragit till nya affärsområden och möjligheter för musikindustrin. Internets genombrott och den snabba teknologiska utvecklingen har skapat en hårdare konkurrens inom branschen, och företagen måste därför hitta nya sätt att omfamna webben som en ny och kraftfull marknadskanal samt dra nytta av de möjligheter som det innebär för försäljning och distribution av digital musik.Forskningsfrågor: Hur arbetar musikindustrin med digital marknadsföring och vilka digitala plattformar används för att marknadsföra sig på?Hur har den digitala reformen inom musikbranschen påverkat marknadsföringen för de olika aktörerna i branschen och hur arbetar de idag för att nå ut till konsumenterna?Syfte: Syftet med studien är att beskriva och analysera hur den teknologiska utvecklingen har påverkat den digitala marknadsföringen i dagens musikindustri.Metod: Studien är genomförd i kombination av en flerfaldig forskningsmetod där ett kvantitativt betraktelsesätt har använts för att styrka kvalitativa resultat och tvärtom.

The purpose of this study is to chart and describe which content and different models that teachers use when teaching English as a foreign language at upper secondary school in Sweden. The study was performed through a phenomenonographic point of view, where the aim is to present and compare different understandings within a certain area. Our study emanates in Lars-Göran Malmberg?s theories about different teaching models used when teaching Swedish, which have been transferred and modified by Bo Lundahl into teaching English as foreign language. On the basis of this theory, six individual interviews with different teachers at upper secondary school were carried out with concern of discussing the content and aim of English teaching.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze and examine India's economic reforms which the country introduced on the government's own initiative in the early 1990s after decades of practicing isolationism. The analysis entails a thorough systematic examination of possible factors that determined the decision to implement the reforms. These factors are derived from two models developed by scholars within the field of foreign policy.The research is performed through an examination where the possible factors for the reforms have been examined on a three-level basis; system-, state- and individual level. It is a qualitative case study that seeks to explain not only why the Indian government implemented the reforms but also to evaluate the validity of the models to the extent that they stand in accordance with the case of India.The conclusion presented in this thesis is that one model works better for explaining the case of India. The model lie emphasis on structural changes, a crisis and political entrepreneurs committed to a certain type of reforms as a prerequisite for policy change to take place.

AbstractAim of this project was to analyse signals and try to localize the position of source of sound. It is donewith three microphones which have 90 degrees angle to each other. Each microphone detects one partof the sound wave. The microphones are connected toan ADC which turns signals from analogue todigital shape. This thesis investigates how web agencys in Stockholm use, value and incoroprate the terms usability, user experience and interaction design in their work process. The purpose of this study is to investigate how creative professionals works with the notions of usability, user experience and interaction design with focus on the end user. Our definition of creative professionals is every employee at a web agency involved in the work process of developing digital artefacts in any capacity. We wanted to investigate how these notions are considered, consciously or unconsciously, during the workprocess. Semi-structured interviews were conducted at three different web agencys with eight different employees.
