This essay aims to examine and compare the attitudes of decision makers in the local government and representatives of pensioners in two different geographic areas. The main questions were:- their attitudes towards the "stay home principle" (kvarboendeprincipen, a principle that aims to make it possible for people with a handicap, disease or age to stay in their homes instead of moving to nursing homes).- their attitudes towards nursing homes for old people- their attitudes towards the possibility of staying at home when you are old and handicapped and in need of care.The essay is built on qualitative research methods, based on interviews and on a review of research in the field.The author found a complex picture of attitudes. Everybody thinks that the best is to live in your own home as long as possible, except from those who live with Alzheimer´s disease. They showed different opinions on the issue of the need for moving to nursing homes. This might result in forcing people to stay at home.

Diabetes typ 2 är idag en stor välfärdssjukdom i världen som förväntas öka. Med livsstilsförändringar hos patienter med typ 2 diabetes kan sjukdomen förhindras och motverkas så att medicinering och komplikationer kan minska. Kunskap finns om allmännyttan av hälsosammare kost-och motionsvanor men trots denna kunskap finns det personliga omständigheter som hindrar patienter till att genomföra dessa förändringar. Syftet är att belysa hur patienter med eller i hög risk för typ 2 diabetes upplever livsstilsförändringar med fokus på kost och motion. Studien är en litteraturstudie som bygger på analys av nio kvalitativa artiklar.

Fetma är ett växande hälsoproblem, såväl i Sverige som i övriga världen. Idag räknar man med att cirka 10 % av männen och 12 % av kvinnorna i Sverige lider av fetma (BMI?30). Komplikationerna till följd av fetma är många, och inkluderar många allvarliga sjukdomar och tillstånd. Typ 2-diabetes är en av dessa sjukdomar och risken att insjukna ökar kraftigt med ett stigande BMI.

Diabetes typ 1 är en sjukdom som oftast drabbar yngre personer. Det är inte vanligt att barn insjuknar de första levnadsåren men sedan ökar risken och toppen nås vid 12- 14 års ålder. Diabetes typ 1 behandlas alltid med insulin och egenvården är en central del i behandlingen. Det är viktigt att hela familjen når en god livskvalitet trots sjukdomen. Sjukdomen och den nya livsomställningen kan skapa lidande hos bland annat föräldrarna och det är vår uppgift som sjuksköterskor att försöka lindra det lidande som uppstår.

Sammanfattning   Bakgrund:                      Typ 2 diabetes är en   progressiv och omfattande sjukdom.    Sjukdomen kan ge många komplikationer om man inte hanterar den väl.   Aktiva livsstilsförändringar såsom anpassad kost och regelbundna motionsvanor   är betydande i behandlingen. Detta leder till ett positiv inflytande på   blodsockret och egenvården. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten som framkommer i   uppsatsen är Dorothea Orem omvårdnadsteori som ger en tydlig definition av begreppet   egenvård. Sjuksköterskan har en viktig roll i individernas hantering av   egenvård.
