Introduktion: Sverige har näst högst insjuknande i diabetes typ 1 bland barn och ungdomar i världen. 7000 barn har diabetes i Sverige och varje år insjuknar 700 individer mellan 0-14 år, där 11-14 åringar är överrepresenterade. Som blivande sjuksköterskor kommer vi att möta dessa patienter när de är tonåringar, såväl som när de når vuxen ålder. Vi anser det därför vara viktigt att få kunskap om hur de upplever det att leva med diabetes typ 1. Bakgrund: Att få diagnosen diabetes typ 1 innebär ett behov av insulin under resten av livet.

Bakgrund: Diabetes mellitus typ II är en ökande folkhälsosjukdom där cirka fyra procent av Sveriges befolkning beräknas ha sjukdomen. Diabetes mellitus typ II är en kronisk sjukdom som kan leda till svåra komplikationer. Därmed är det viktigt att personer med sjukdomen får god information om egenvård för att själva kunna minska riskerna för att utveckla komplikationer. Inom diabetesegenvården är det viktigt med fysisk aktivitet, en god glukoskontroll, god fotvård samt en bra kost. En persons upplevelse är aldrig densamma som någon annan person i samma sist.

BakgrundTonåringar befinner sig i en kritisk period i livet då många förändringar sker både fysiskt och psykiskt. Perioden kan innefatta stress kring skolan men även att testa bland annat alkohol, vilka båda är faktorer som påverkar glukosnivån i blodet. Att vara tonåring med diabetes innebär dagliga överväganden och beslut samt ett ansvarstagande för att kunna hantera sin sjukdom. Sjuksköterskans roll är att stödja, utbilda samt informera patienten om betydelsen av levnadsvanor och riskfaktorer. Patientutbildningen syftar till att individen själv ska kunna påverka behandlingen och bli mer delaktig i sin egenvård. SyfteSyftet var att beskriva diabetessjuksköterskans erfarenheter av att stödja tonåringar med typ 1 diabetes i att hantera sin sjukdom. MetodStudiens metod var en kvalitativ intervjustudie.

Diabetes Mellitus typ 1 är en autoimmun kronisk sjukdom som kan drabba människor i olika åldrar men framför allt barn och ungdomar. I Sverige finns det nästan 8000 barn som har diabetes. Det är omkring trettio procent av barnen som behandlas på en vuxenavdelning av olika anledningar. Även om barn och ungdomar kan ta ett större eget ansvar för att sköta sin sjukdom när de blir äldre så behöver de fortfarande föräldrarnas stöd. Familj i sin helhet kan förändras om någon av familjemedlemmar blir sjuk.
