Employer branding : En studie i hur Uppsala Universitet bygger sitt arbetsgivarvarumärke

Purpose: Our purpose is to achieve a higher understanding of which factors University of Uppsala is using to attract and keep their existing workers.Theory: We have worked with Barrow & Mosley's the employer brand mix, this modelexplains 12 important factors that exists within the employer branding process. External reputation, internal communication, the board, values and corporate social responsibility, internalmeasuring systems, service support, work environment, rewards and acknowledgements, learningand development, performance estimation, team management and recruitment and introduction.Method: To achieve an understanding of our subject we have chosen to work with a qualitativemethod. This type of method is more considerate of the interviewed person?s way of seeingthings and also accounts for how the person answers. To answer our problem statement we haveconducted a case study on University of Uppsala where we used semi structured interviewsbecause we wanted to limit the risk of leading questions.Empirical findings: University of Uppsala were used as material for our empirical discussionContext: The main reasons that workers is attracted to and are staying at the university dependson the external status they achieve when working there, this combined with that the workers getsto be a part of the university's brand.

Biblioteks- och informationsvetenskapens överordnade identitet : ämnets betydelse för studentens yrkesinriktning

Library and information science (LIS), being a research area characterized by theoretical discord and definition disarray, provides an interesting field of inquiry. Its content, boundaries, scope and superior identity are not clearly stated. This Master s thesis focuses on a thus far unexplored perspective on the discipline: a conceivable statistic and causes- and- effect relationship between the LIS students appreciated identification with the superior identity of the discipline, and the chosen vocational direction within the field. This relationship is examined through testing a working hypothesis on the results of a major quantitative questionnaire survey. The theory behind our research derives mainly from Thomas Kuhn and Richard Whitley.

Konkurrensen mellan skolor sett ur ett studie- och yrkesvägledarperspektiv/The competition between schools in a career guidance perspective

SAMMANFATTNING I detta examensarbete har vi genom kvalitativa intervjuer undersökt hur studie- och yrkesvägledare på kommunala och fristående gymnasieskolor i Skåne upplever den konkurrens som finns mellan skolor och hur den eventuellt påverkar deras arbete. För att få en förståelse för studie- och yrkesvägledares yrkesroll och arbetssituation har vi bl.a. gett en beskrivning av styrdokument, etiska regler och konkurrenssituationen mellan skolor. Vid vår tolkning har vi utgått från begreppen organisationskultur, skolkultur, syokultur och psykologiskt kontrakt. De slutsatser vi kan dra av vårt resultat är att samtliga vägledare menar att det finns en konkurrens mellan gymnasieskolor. Hur omfattande den är finns det inget entydigt svar på.

Studie- och yrkesvägledning som hela skolans ansvar

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur en grundskola arbetar för att implementera studie- och yrkesvägledning i vid bemärkelse, som hela skolans ansvar. Styrdokument beskriver att skolor bör arbeta med studie- och yrkesvägledning på ett långsiktigt och individanpassat sätt för att ge elever möjlighet att göra väl underbyggda val i framtiden. Ändå visar olika granskningar att utbudet av studie- och yrkesvägledning i grundskolan många gånger är bristande och av varierad kvalitet. En grundskola i Skåne arbetar i nuläget för att implementera studie- och yrkesvägledning under lektionstid, som ett projekt i skolorganisationen. Projektets implementering ska leda till att skolans elever ska få verktyg för framtida val men även att skolan aktivt ska arbeta med studie- och yrkesvägledning som ett gemensamt ansvar. Undersökningen genomfördes med en kvalitativ metod där intervjuer gjordes med fem lärare och en studie- och yrkesvägledare alla verksamma inom den undersökta skolorganisationen.

A new type of chartered holiday, fitness holiday, has evolved during the last years and has also been mentioned in different media channels. Despite this, fitness holiday is a relatively new and unexplored phenomenon, which caught our interest to further explore this. The desire to travel on a holiday of this type has also increased. Therefore, a study about this particular phenomenon with focus on the traveler?s motives behind the choice to go has been done.It?s a qualitative study and most part of the data has been collected during a field study to Playitas Resort, Canary Islands.

What makes generation Y jump : en kvantitativ studie av hur den nya generationen bankanställda motiveras av monetära och icke-monetära incitament

Right now a major generational change is taking place within the banking sector. The new generation entering the labor market is often referred to as generation Y and it consists of individuals born between 1980 and 1995. Previous research has shown that the banking industry as a whole put a widespread emphasis on monetary incentives within the reward system. At the same time several studies highlight that individuals from generation Y are rather motivated by primarily non-monetary incentives.The aim of this dissertation is to explain how various monetary and non-monetary incentives affect the motivation of bank employees from generation Y. A positivistic research philosophy has been used with a deductive approach and a quantitative research method.This study indicates that bank employees from generation Y are motivated by retirement savings as well as a personal mentor or chief who draws attention to their development.

Missbruk bland assyrier/syrianer : - En kvalitativ hermeneutisk studie om fem före detta missbrukare

Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka ett relativt outforskat område, nämligen missbruk bland assyrier/syrianer. Trots att folkgruppen har levt i Sverige i drygt 40 år och utgör en av landets större invandrargrupper, har det bedrivits väldigt lite forskning gällande missbruk bland populationen. Förhoppningen med studien är att den kan tillföra ytterligare kunskap som kan vara av betydelse för de som på något sätt kommer i kontakt med assyriska/syrianska missbrukare, exempelvis sociala myndigheter, behandlingsinstitutioner med flera, men även att studien kan frambringa en konstruktiv debatt, som författaren anser saknas bland den assyriska/syrianska folkgruppen, och belysa temat missbruk ytterligare.Med hjälp av den kvalitativa metoden har fem före detta missbrukande assyrier/syrianer, med en bakgrund i ett narkotika- och/eller spelmissbruk studerats. Huvudfrågan har varit att studera hur respondenterna hamnat i ett missbruk, tiden under missbruk, samt hur man därefter tagit sig ur missbruket. Empirin insamlades via fyra enskilda intervjuer i det fysiska rummet samt en via e-mail.

Hinderbanan - en studie om jämställdhetsarbete och kvinnors förutsättningar inom professionella tjänsteföretag

Although women express a desire to be managers and although they constitute the majority of Sweden's newly graduated academics, they are still heavily underrepresented on senior management level in the Swedish private sector, where men hold as much as 95 % of the top positions. Considering the massive waste of resources that this implies, this thesis sets out to investigate the underlying reasons for the skewed gender distribution on senior management level in two Swedish professional services companies - an industry where the described problem has been palpable. Additionally, the thesis explores the effects of actively working for increased gender equality. With a basis in gender and organization theory, a broad theoretical framework has been compiled and applied to a qualitative case study design. The thesis reveals seven distinct impediments, which together create a parable of an obstacles course, that prevent women from advancing the corporate ladder in the same manner as their male colleagues.

En man bland många kvinnor  : en studie om varför män väljer läraryrket i den tidiga grundskolan

 The english name of this essay is ?One man among many women?. This essay takes its starting point in the situation today with few male teachers in the earlier years of elementary school. I have decided to look at the small group of males that actually started the education to become teachers and why they did it when the profession as teacher today is low-paid, low status and is a profession with a large dominance of female teachers. I have chosen to write about this because of the importance for the children to meet both men and women as teachers in the early schoolyears.

Hans Alséns arkiv 1986 - 1992 : Att ordna och förteckna en landshövdings handlingar

Hans Olof Alsén, born 16 august 1926, is a Swedish Social Democrat politician who served as the County Governor of Uppsala from 1986 to 1992. During the 1960s, -70s and -80s he had several political commissions including Member of Parliament and government Undersecretary. In addition he had numerous Board of Directors assignments in different business corporations as well as in non commercial associations both prior to, during and after the County Governor period.This paper describes the organizing and cataloguing of Hans Alsén's personal archives. The documents at hand were deposited at the regional state archives (Landsarkivet) in Uppsala in 2008 and 2009 by Alsén himself. The documents almost exclusively cover the County Governor years 1986-1992.

AbstractMy feature career as a teacher, for the early years of compulsory school, makes it interesting to finding out of how teaching religion can be donned. I am interested in what methods can be used for teaching religion That?s why my purpose aims to find out how five different teachers, of the early ages, works and what methods they use while teaching religion. My issue for this composition is: what methods, or to a point - methods supported by different teaching models, can be used for studying religion in compulsory school? Empirical and specialized literature points in the direction fore methods like storytelling, load reading, drama, group works, independent searching of information, working books and so on.

Kvinnor som ledare inom industriföretag : En studie om hur kvinnor kan ta sig tillledande positioner

Research question: How does the industrial company Scania work to get more women in leadership positions?Purpose: The purpose of this work is to describe how companies in a male-dominated industry can work to get a higher share of female leaders.Method: This survey was based on a deductive approach with a qualitative method. Theories have been obtained primarily from scientific articles and the empirical part has been collected through interviews from the companies Wiminvest and Scania.Conclusion: The conclusions the study came up with was different elements that companies in male-dominated industries can work with to get a higher share of female leaders. The first thing that companies can do is to join the project BON or similar projects to work on this issue. They can work with workshops and lectures to disseminate knowledge about the topic.

Slussning in i Sverige. En kritisk diskursanalys av integrationspolitik i valrörelsen 2002

Today, Sweden is to be regarded as a country formed by the influences and effects of immigration. The government is considering integration as a process aimed to influent all forms of welfare politics and as a project working both at an individual and at a social level. The aims of integration policies are to guarantee equal rights and opportunities, to form a public community characterized by diversity, and to mobilize all citizens to participate in and to be jointly responsible for a social development characterized by mutual respect and tolerance. During the Swedish election campaign of 2002, integration policies became one of the most reported and discussed political questions in the media. The aim of this essay is to study and analyze discursive statements on integration policies made by politicians during this election campaign.

TitleThe profession of Children's Librarians. Identity and vocation.AbstractThe aim of this Master's thesis is to investigate the professional identity of Children's Librarians in order to contribute to a deeper understanding to the professions of librarians. This places the thesis in the field of Library and Information Science that studies the profession. The definition we use to understand profession suggests that all librarians take an active part in negotiating their professional role and library enterprise.Our empirical material consists of interviews with eight Children's Librarians. Using a qualitative method was the best way to gain an understanding for the participant's own experiences of their professional identity.

Arbetsterapeuters erfarenheter av att arbeta som egenföretagare: En kvalitativ studie

Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva legitimerade arbetsterapeuters erfarenheter av att driva eget företag inom ramen för arbetsterapi och visa vilka möjligheter det finns med att vara arbetsterapeut och egenföretagare.För studien valdes en kvalitativ ansats med semistrukturerade intervjuer som datainsamlingsmetod. Sex arbetsterapeuter verksamma med eget företag intervjuades. Det insamlade materialet analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys varpå det framkom fem kategorier.Resultatet visar att den breda kompetensen som arbetsterapeuter besitter ger möjligheter att driva företag och erbjuda tjänster inom flera olika områden. Deltagarna lyfter nyttan av tidigare erfarenheter, friheten med att vara egenföretagare, samt egenskaper och kunskap som är till nytta i företagandet. Vidare beskriver deltagarna hur de marknadsför sig själva och sina företag, samt vikten av att ha ett nätverk, dels för att få råd och stöd, men även för att generera kunder.
