Sustainable design - a study on sustainable design and its incentives and barriersThe purpose of this study was to investigate the incentives and barriers existing within companies focusing on eco-design. The aim was also to examine the consumers? thoughts on eco-design and sustainable products. A further aim was to try to concretize important lessons for future work on sustainable production and consumption. Two methods were used for completing this study; a literature study and a practical study consisting of interviews with companies focusing on eco-design and a survey among students.

The intention of this final thesis is to examine how to create a schoolyard that inspires children at the age of 6 ? 12 years to play and give them possibility to develop. To get a lot of knowledge in this subject, I have combined studies of literature with practical studies at Hosjöskolan in Falun. During my practical studies I have done interviews, walks in the area with the children and visited other schoolyards. I have based a Design proposal for the schoolyard of Hosjöskolan on these studies.

Denna rapport beskriver processen av skapandet av en webbaserad säljpresentation av en av företaget PROSK8?s planerade produkter. Målet med presentationen är att skapa nyfikenhet och förtroende genom visuell design och ska fungera som ett verktyg och stöd för företagets presentatörer vid möten med investerare. The Sitting while waiting for sustainability project goal was to make a functional model for a resting chair and to make it by using furniture and artefacts as material. A try of understanding the process of re-design and to use it to design was driving the project through. Slutsatser kan dras utifrån en studie av vilka förutsättningar Södertälje kommun samt Eskilstuna kommun har för att använda design som en strategisk resurs. Every year the Swedish government invests capital in different projects. In recent years the Swedish government has chosen to invest in design. The reason for this is that the government wants industry to use design as a competitive source. Two organizations, Svensk Form and Stiftelsen Svensk Indistridesign, have been assigned to improve industry and society?s under¬standing of design.

This report is written on the assignment by Nexans IKO Sweden AB in Grimsås which is a cable manufacturing company. Nexans IKO Sweden AB was in need of help to examine possibilities for saving energy by saving compressed air, in first place by using the compressed air more efficient. The task was to determine the present situation, making the airwipe stations more efficient by reducing the consumption of the compressed air and in turn save money. Even the aspects of the working environment were discussed as the noise levels from the pneumatic systems and engines are usually high. A schedule over the airflow in the factory and the inventory over current airwipessituation was made.

The aims of the following project has beento make a proposition how to create aspecific kind of transformer. Thefollowing report evaluates the differentimportant variables and contains asuggestion for a possible design. Intheory it's an ordinary transformer that'ssuppose to transform electrical effect toa high voltage line. Dagens företag måste ta hänsyn till sin omvärld för att överleva på den konkurrensutsatta marknaden, i synnerhet med tanke på den globaliserade värld de verkar i. Ett konkurrensmedel som med tiden har blivit mer accepterat för företag att använda är design. Under de senaste årtiondena har design också diskuteras allt mer av bland annat företagsekonomer och designforskare och i mötet mellan de båda disciplinerna har forskningsområdet ?design management? vuxit fram. I och med ökade miljöproblem har hållbar utveckling blivit ett aktuellt begrepp och detta har också kommit att påverka designvärlden, vilket har lett till att begreppet hållbar design har myntats.

The purpose of this project has been to redesign an already existing cook-book. The title of the book (directly translated), ?Season in food ? the year around with herbs and spices?, contains what the headline imposes: spices, herbs and food. But when the author tries to entwine these parts and communicate it to the reader it is not working all to well due to a poor and inconsistent graphic design.I have followed the theories and values of information design when I redesigned the book layout with the intent to simplify the communication between author and reader. In the progress to make a complete dummie of the book I did multiple literature studies, book analysis, tests and a vast number of drafts.In this report I will describe the whole process from start to finish.

Denna uppsats redovisar en studie av normer i interaktionsdesignen av svt.se, som ett exempel på en nyhetssida av public service-karaktär. Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka och belysa sociala normer och hur de bäddas in i designen. Vi ville också undersöka och utvärdera metoder och ramverk för att studera webbplatser och dess interaktionsdesign som kulturella uttryck och bärare av sociala normer. För att belysa studiens syfte har vi använt oss av de riktlinjer för tillgänglighet i webbgränssnitt som SVT förhåller sig till i designen. Studien utgick från en multimodal analysmetod för webbplatser och grounded theory.

SammanfattningUppsatsen har för avsikt att undersöka hur svenska inredningsföretag använder design management för att utveckla sin verksamhet. Med design management avses funktionen att leda och kontrollera designprocessen, det innefattar också att fungera som länken mellan designen och organisationen. Design management har även som funktion att integrera designkonceptet i andra delar av organisationen, samt att integrera organisationen i designprocessen.Genom kursen Innovation and design management vid Växjö universitet där författarna studerar knöts kontakt med Anders Wisth, projektledare för Möbelriket i Småland. Anders Wisth hade observerat att flera företag som arbetar med design hade svårt att utveckla sin verksamhet. Möbelriket förmedlade kontakten till tre inredningsföretag som alla hade nått framgång med sin design och utvecklat sin verksamhet.Hur dessa företag arbetade med design jämfördes sedan mot varandra samt mot teorin.

This essay analyses the arguments of The Swedish Government Official Report 2008:88 which proposes that the Swedish law (SFS) should shift from promulgation in print to elec-tronic promulgation on a Website. I have studied two aspects of the arguments in the text. On the one hand, the Inquiry?s description of how things might become if their proposal becomes effectuated and, on the other hand, how the present situation is described in the text. The theory I have used is called A Garbage Can Model of Organizational Choice, which pictures organizations as often irrational in dealing with problems, solutions and decision making.

This master thesis is a story about the development of a rosary in Lomma hamn. During spring 2004 I attended a competition arranged by the municipality of Lomma and SLU Alnarp. The assignment was to design a rosary. The jury liked my ideas and invited me to proceed and develop them. The rosary in Lomma hamn was built in 2006. The Lomma hamn area is being developed as a new part of Lomma.

During Spring semester 2011, Linda Engstrom and Malin Heder performed ?Golden Ratio?, a thesis which included 22.5 hp. The thesis followed the syllabus for the Degree Project for degree of Bachelor of Science in Innovation and Design Engineering (MSGC12) which was a unit in the Innovation and Design Engineering program within the Faculty of Technology and Science at Karlstad University.The client was Crem International AB, a company located in Åmotfors that develops the design, manufactures and markets coffee machines. The supervisor at the company has been Peter Larsson and supervisor at Karlstad University has been Monica Jakobsson. Examiner for the thesis has been Professor Fredrik Thuvander at the Faculty of Technology and Science at Karlstad University.Crem International AB controls a patent, representing a new technology to streamline and minimize use of energy during the coffee preparation and results in a good coffee quality.
