Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur pedagoger i förskolan tillvaratar barnlitteratur för att främja barns läsutveckling. Forskning om barns läsutveckling, samt pedagogers medvetna val i användning av barnlitteratur och läsning presenteras i uppsatsen. Metoden som används är semistrukturerade intervjuer med 12 pedagoger, varav hälften arbetar inom Reggio Emilia. Resultatet visar att pedagogerna använder biblioteket som bokkälla samt att flertalet önskar mer läsning i hemmet. Samtliga pedagoger anger liknande platser och tidpunkter för läsning av barnlitteratur.

This thesis is based on a study conducted at the City Library Dynamo in Gothenburg where data have been collected through qualitative interviews with young people aged 15 - 25 years. Our intention was to examine what young people think about the City Library Dynamo as a venue, and how they perceive its activities and functions.In order to compare two different cultural venues for young people, where Dynamo is one, interviews were also conducted at a location other than the library, at Arena 29, a cultural activity house for young people in Gothenburg. Twelve qualitative and semi-structured interviews were conducted in order to collect data which was then transcribed and structured. As a theoretical framework we have used the new model for the public library, developed by Hvenegaard, Jochumsen and Skot-Hansen 2010.Our result shows a thoroughly positive image of the City Library Dynamo, particularly as a meeting and study place. Young people stated that they felt welcome and that the City Library Dynamo was designed and tailored to match their needs.

The aim of this Master thesis is to study the public libraries' function as a place for people to meet. Four major questions are taken up: + Do the public libraries have the function of a meeting place? + How important do the librarians and the visitors find the libraries possible function as a meeting place? Do they think that this function is important? + What differs the public libraries from other places in society when it comes to the function of a meeting place? + What differences are there between a larger and a smaller library when it comes to the function of a meeting place ? The basis of this study are interviews with employees at a province library in Jönköping and at a smaller library in Sjöbo in Borås municipality. Our study deals with the history of public libraries, its functions as a meeting place, its architecture, culture, and statistics concerning numbers of visitors and loans of books. The conclusions that are drawn are that the public libraries have qualifications to function as a meeting place even if that isn't always the case.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to describe how Swedish public libraries use Web 2.0-tools and their experiences of using the tools. Focus of the study lies in the contact between public libraries and their patrons on the Web 2.0-tools. For the purposes of the study, the use of weblogs and MySpace were chosen for examination. The methodology used for this study was qualitative interviews.

Genus är ett begrepp som beskriver hur det socialt och kulturellt är att vara kvinna eller man. Inom litteraturvetenskapen växer intresset för genusinriktade studier där man tittar på hur genus konstrueras i litteraturen. Den här studien undersöker hur genus förmedlas till barn genom en bilderbok. En bilderbok idag är något som är självklart för många men samtidigt oklart. Bilderboken har sin plats på biblioteket och i bokhandeln men det finns inte alla gånger en klar definition av vad bilderböcker är.

The purpose of this bachelor?s thesis is to evaluate how the marketing campaign ?LÃ¥na dig rik? has been received by the residents of Kalmar. A series of questions are asked: was the campaign noticed by the residents of Kalmar? Through which marketing channels has it been noticed? Is the residents? opinion of the library in line with the marketing message? Is the campaign moving in the desired direction?The study was done through a questionnaire that was handed out to a number of people in Kalmar. The residents were asked to answer if they had noticed the campaign, where they had noticed it and what their opinion of the library was.

In this Bachelor thesis, we examine how the work of the librarian has changed over the past three decades. The research questions focus on the changes in librarians´ roles and working tasks regarding factors like technique, meetings between librarians and visitors and also how to give service to visitors.We have conducted interviews with librarians at university libraries as well as public libraries. In all, there were four interviews. We have also compared the two types of libraries.We have looked closely at these factors: the tasks of the librarians, the skills needed, how the library has been used as a democratic arena, and what kinds of meetings there are among librarians and users of the library. From these themes we have created interview questions, and our analysis is structured according to the themes.We have worked from a theory on different kinds of identities within the profession.

The purpose of this master's thesis is to find out what support students of Swedish for Immigrants (sfi) think they get from the public library during their study of the Swedish language. One important aspect in this essay is to examine whether the library can meet the need of Swedish-speaking meeting places where the sfi-students can practise their new language. The method used in this study is qualitative interviews. Nine sfi-students, one sfiteacher and one librarian have been interviewed. A sociocultural perspective on learning has served as a theoretical starting point.

Studiens syfte är att undersöka vilka olika familjekonstellationer barn i tre till fem års ålder möter i barnlitteraturen på förskolan och hur dessa konstellationer framställs. Urvalet av litteraturen på förskolorna är någon som undersöks samt vilka tankar som finns bakom det. Forskningsmetoder som används är dokumentanalys samt kvalitativ intervjuer. Empiriinsamlingen har gjorts på fem olika förskolor där fem förskollärare intervjuats. I resultatet av intervjuerna framkommer det att fyra av fem avdelningar går till biblioteket för att välja litteratur.

This bachelor?s thesis examines the ideas behind the phenomenon art exhibitions in public libraries. My interest is to see if and how the art exhibitions can support the libraries in being a public sphere in Jürgen Habermas? sense, open for all citizens and their opinions. My study therefore has two purposes.
