During an investigation of animal welfare in animal production, the focus has for a long time been focused on the absence of stress, suffering and injuries, and positive emotions have not been prioritized. However, in recent years that has been drastically changed. The public interest have increased for buying animal products from animals that have had a decent life, which have led to that play, exploratory behavior and other positive behaviours has come to play a significant role in welfare assessment. The welfare of cattle is difficult to assess since there is currently no ancestors to study, it is thus difficult to determine which behaviors can be regarded as natural and thus positively related, acordingly the welfare of cattle have been forgotten and research on positive emotions of cattle have not been prioritized. The aim of this study was to observe which behavior growing cattle performe, and if there was any differences of which kind of behavior that was observed, if the cattle is keept on slatted floor or on a deep straw bedding. Furthermore, antoher purpose was to investigate if the observed behaviours indicate a positive, negative or natural welfare, and if it is possible to use the observed behaviours in a welfare assessment.

The purpose of this thesis is to build on the current debate on male circumcision and from thetwo perspectives, consequentialism and non-consequentialism, describe the conflict of rightsthat exists on the issue and outline a normative conclusion about whether Sweden should banmale circumcision of boys or not. The idea is to clarify how the two sides' approach to theconflicting rights differ on the issue. The perspectives intends to provide further clarity to thearguments and provide a framework to resolve the rights conflict by, which creates morefavorable conditions to understand the moral bearing of the arguments in the debate. Thesurvey is conducted as a debate analytical study, conducted by compiling and organizing thearguments for the various positions in the debate. Based on the two theories I conduct ancritical analysis in which I examine the extent to which the arguments of each side lives up tothe perspectives moral standards.

This report contains a degree project made by the mechanical engineering students Lennart Andersson and Daniel Jansson. The project has performed in assignment by SOMAS Valves AB in Säffle. SOMAS are leading in development on control and on/off valves. To maintain this position they always want to improve their products. One way in this development is valves that are more tightened.The purpose with our project was to investigate another seat design on a HiCo (High Cobalt Alloy) seat to a SKV 150 PN 25 valve and compare this to an original HiCo seat.By modifying the seat on a ball valve we want to achieve a valve that leaks lesser then a valve whit original seat.

Operationell risk inom banksektorn är ett område under utveckling. Utredningen har behandlat ett ramverk för hantering av operationell risk kallat A Systemic Approach Framework for Operational Risk (SAFOR). Syftet har varit att konkretisera detta ramverk och inom detta utvärdera en metod kallad Damage Evaluation and Effective Prevention (DEEP-metoden) i kombination med ett datoriserat beslutsverktyg benämnt DecideIT. SAFOR hanterar operationell risk som är nära kopplat till företagets processer, personer och system. Dess utformning grundar sig i general system theory, en holistisk verksamhetssyn som minskar risken för överlappning mellan olika riskhanteringsområden.

The most predominant method for forest harvesting in Sweden is the cut-to-length method based on two-machines, a harvester that fells trees and cut them in a predefined length, and a forwarder which transports logs to a landing area for further transport to a processing facility. New machine solutions have to be much gentler to the ground than today?s machines. To be able to develop a forestry machine that preserves the terrain requires a proper understanding of the interaction between tire and soil.The goal of the project is to contribute to the existing knowledge of forest machine tire-soil interaction and to develop a tire-soil model that enables dynamic simulations of forest machines operating in rough terrain. The modeling has especially been focused on the interaction between tires and soft ground.A comparison of theoretical data of different WES-based terrain interaction models and a comparison test data from a full scale field test is presented.

The aim of this study was through theories of emotional labor; understand how staff and volunteers within women?s shelter handled their emotions in the encounters with battered women. To examine this we used a qualitative method and interviewed four staff members and three volunteers spread across four different women?s shelters. The data collected was analyzed using Hochschilds? theory of emotional labor.

This thesis applies to a novel steam expander, one part of a steam engine system, a wobble plateengine. The piston in the expander moves axially with the outgoing rotating shaft and is locatedon a plate, why the engine type is called axial engine. When steam is applied to the plungers theplate wobbles creating a rotation on the shaft going thru the wobble plate. Krubbitning är en oral stereotypi som innebär att hästen tar stöd mot ett fastsittande objekt med framtänderna och drar bakåt samtidigt som den drar in luft vilket ofta framkallar ett karaktäristiskt ljud. Många hästägare försöker förhindra att hästen krubbiter och det vanligaste sättet är att sätta på hästen en krubbitarrem. Det är möjligt att krubbitning fyller en funktion hos hästen och att då förhindra beteendet kan påverka hästens välfärd. Ett alternativt sätt att försöka minska krubbitning kan vara att introducera en berikning i form av en aktivitetsboll. En aktivitetsboll är en boll som fylls med någon form av foder och hästen manövrerar den för att få tillgång till innehållet som trillar ut genom ett hål i bollen. Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka om en aktivitetsboll hade någon effekt på krubbitningsfrekvensen hos krubbitande hästar.

A reward cycle for investigating the emotional status in animals has been developed and it requires that animals go through three main phases, i.e. anticipation, consumption and relaxation. The reward cycle has not been tested previously for access to play in pigs. Therefore, the aim of this Master thesis was to investigate if growing pigs showed more behaviours indicative of excitement than pigs that were not allowed to play, performed play in a play arena and showed more behaviours indicative of relaxation after play when they were back to their home pen than pigs that were in their home pen the whole time. Forty undocked piglets (10 litters of Specific Pathogen Free half pure-bred Yorkshire and half hybrids of Yorkshire x Landrace balanced for breed between two treatments were used.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur poliser inom den ingripande verksamheten hanterar de emotioner som uppstår i arbetet. Vidare avser studien även att undersöka vilken påverkan de emotionella aspekterna av arbetet får för poliserna.  Detta görs med hjälp av en kvalitativ metod i form av sex semistrukturerade intervjuer med poliser inom ett polisdistrikt. Studiens teoretiska ramverk består av begrepp inom emotionssociologin och socialpsykologin.Följande frågeställningar behandlas:Hur hanterar poliserna de känslor som uppstår i arbetet och hur kan detta karaktäriseras?Hur påverkar de emotionella aspekterna av arbetet poliserna, har det konsekvenser? Sammantaget visar resultatet att poliserna följer informella känsloregler som finns inom yrkesrollen och att dessa regler skiljer sig beroende på den situation poliserna befinner sig i. De hanterar även känslor i arbetet på ett sätt som kan beskrivas med Hochschilds begrepp surface acting och deep acting.

Actinomycosis is a rare, deep-seated infection of the jaw of cattle that include the progressive enlargement of bone structures. It is caused by Actinomyces bovis, a gram-positive rod found as a normal commensal of the alimentary canal in otherwise healthy animals. This paper shortly describes Actinomyces bovis and its ability to cause "lumpy jaw" or actinomycosis in cattle. It will describe its pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and some clinical presentations. The incidence of symptomatic actinomycosis infection is quite low in Sweden today.

Denna rapport syftar till att undersöka om det är möjligt att generera en stabil och säker avkastning på den svenska aktiemarknaden utan att nödvändigtvis besitta förkunskaper om specifika företag eller det rådande ekonomiska klimatet. Den modell vi använder oss av är något modifierad men bygger på en drygt fyra decennier gammal teori, Post Earning Announcement Drift (PEAD), som upptäcktes av Ball och Brown 1968. Det som Ball och Brown upptäckte var att efter aktieprisförändringen vid ny finansiell information fortsatte sedan priset på aktierna att förändras i samma riktning som den initiala rörelsen i flera veckor innan priset blev stabilt.Den metod som använts i denna studie analyserade aktiekursdata för OMXS30 de senaste sex åren (2005 ? 2011) för att jämföra med de datum då kvartalsrapporter släppts för samtliga företag i OMX30 under samma period. Kvartalsrapporterna sorterades sedan efter storleken med avseende på värdeökning- respektive värdeminskning av företagens aktier under respektive rapporteringsdag.
