The purpose of the present study was to examine effects of driver, vehicle, and environment characteristics on Collision Warning System (CWS) design. One hypothesis was made that the capability of collision avoidance would not be same among a driver, vehicle, and environment group with different characteristics. Accident analysis and quantitative analysis was used to examine this hypothesis in terms of ?risk? and ?safety margin? respectively. Rear-end collision had a stronger focus in the present study.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att få kunskap om hur slaktkycklingarna hanteras från infångning i stallet till dess att de bedövats vid slakt. Fokus ligger främst på hur hanteringen ser ut i Sverige. Hur påverkas slaktkycklingarna under hanteringen och hur ser stressnivån ut och vilka faktorer bidrar till en ökad dödlighet? I Sverige föds det varje år upp cirka 80 miljoner slaktkycklingar som vid cirka fem veckors ålder transporteras till slakt. Enligt flera olika forskare har hanteringen från infångning till bedövning många brister ur ett djurvälfärdsperspektiv.

Syftet med följande examensarbete är att kartlägga den verbala kommunikationens betydelse för undervisningen i matematik inom de tidigare skolåren. Idag är enskild räkning en vanligt förekommande undervisningsform som möter eleverna i skolan. Undervisningen bedrivs enligt inarbetade rutiner och få ställer sig frågan om detta är rätt väg att gå. En av baksidorna är att eleverna kan isoleras och fastna inom sitt eget tänkande. Matematik är ett språk som bygger på förståelse där ett moment kopplas till nästa.

Denna rapport sammanfattar resultat av ett examensarbete på en högskoleingenjörsutbildning som utfördes av två studenter på Malmö högskola. Arbetets syfte var att genomföra en mängd olika experiment med accelerometer, barometer och GPS i en modern smarttelefon. Ett antal scenarier för en tänkbar sensoranvändning i applikationer formulerades för att vägleda olika experiment. Experimentdata dokumenterades noggrant och analyserades med avsikten att skapa en databank med information för framtida studier. Analys av data inkluderar höjdbestämning i naturen och i byggnader med hjälp av barometersensor, geografisk position med hjälp av GPS, hastighet och acceleration under en hissfärd med hjälp av accelerometer. Rapporten innehåller en omfattande litteraturstudie om användning av sensorer vid inomhuspositionering. Från analys av mätdata, kom vi fram till slutsatsen att är möjligt att beräkna höjden från barometerdata med bra noggrannhet under optimala omständigheter. GPS höjden från mätningarna har stor felmarginal jämfört med den verkliga höjden samt när den jämförs med den beräknade höjden från barometern. Genom att utföra en numerisk integration på accelerometer-data kom vi fram till att det är möjligt att beräkna ungefär hur långt man har färdats med en hiss, dock att vissa detaljer måste tas i beaktning..

During the past decade, insights of climate change received with increasing attention. If the future brings a milder climate in the north and therefore a longer growing season, one would think that it would only affect the forestry to the better? Yet in recent time, outbreaks after storm felling seems to occur more frequently. The Spruce bark beetle ruins millions of cubic meter of Norway spruce (Picea abies) in Sweden alone, with more frequent storm felling and a larger amount of wind thrown threes in the forests there will also be room for an advancing reproduction.

The aim of the research project ?The menacing immigration and ideal Swedishness:A semiotic analysis of the Sweden Democrats campaign films? was to highlight how ethnicities are portrayed in five different campaign films produced by the Swedish party the Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna). The applied theories are stereotypes, binary oppositions as well as the theory of whiteness and blackness. The method used to analyse the campaign films are semiotics, and the tools denotation, connotation, anchoring, relay, metonymy and myths. The results show that a person?s skin colour is of minor importance.

The objective of this paper is to estimate monetary and non-monetary costs for the huntercaused by deer-vehicle collisions in Sweden. These costs include losses in hunting value as wellas time and money efforts related to the handling of wildlife casualties. The calculations arebased on available statistics from 2004 on deer-vehicle collisions involving moose, deer, roedeerand wild boar and on telephone interviews with hunters involved in the tracking of injuredanimals. Altogether, the annual loss in hunting value for moose was assessed to approximately30 million SEK based on the 2004 accident statistics. For roe-deer and fallow deer, thecorresponding figure was approximately 56 million SEK and 1.2 million SEK, while wild boaraccounted for 1.3 million SEK, respectively.

Discussing light and lighting in the night-time environment of Tensta, a Stockholm suburb built between 1962 and 1970, this thesis suggests that lighting should be designed for the outdoor environment as a whole. The feeling of safety and human perception are important components in this thesis. Starting with some comments on visual perception and how we adapt our sight to an interval of the visual input we get, makes it possible to understand that more light sometimes hides, rather than reveals, things. Amongst the dispersed houses, in the green parks of Tensta, this turns the pedestrian roads, lit by pole-top-mounted fixtures, into light tunnels in a dark surrounding. The starting point of this essay was the frustration I felt after having read the novel Nadja (1928) written by the French surrealist André Breton. The title promises the story of someone called Nadja but the promise stays unfulfilled. Recognition of this phenomenon, where a man writes a book about a woman, but the woman hardly is seen, made me want to examine it further.Using the theories of the French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan I analyze the relation between the male narrator and his female object. I also compare Nadja to a precursor: the novel Bruges-la-morte (1892) of the Belgian symbolist writer Georges Rodenbach. Their stories are, to a large degree, similar.

In Sweden exist a Swedish institute for children?s book which is a national information center. They have an annual "Book tasting" where they present statistics and trends from the latest publications of literature for youth and children.In their ?book tasting?? from 2010 a number of picture books had, as they say, children who descend from non-Swedish culture (Swedish institute for children?s book, 2010). The aim of this thesis is to investigate how the ethnical diversity describes in these picture books from 2010. To understand how the ethnical diversity describes in these books I had two questions which helped me in my research.

AHA is a Swedish abbreviation of "reveal threatened park and avenue trees" and is a method to assess the conservation value of individual trees, mainly in the park environments but also in natural stands. This method has previously only been practiced in southern Sweden (Sörensson 2008). To see if this method could provide satisfactory results in northern Sweden, I have studied it in areas around the Umeå River. This was done by studying the relationship between trees with different classifications of conservation value (as classed by the AHA method) and their content of species (species richness and abundance). Insects were collected using trunk window traps in a period of 13 weeks during the summer of 2014.

A large number of rivers in northern Sweden have hydropower developments that cause negative effects on both up- and downstream migrations of anadromous species like Atlantic salmon. So far, most attention has focused on the hindrances of adult fish during their upstream spawning migration. However, since turbines in power stations cause losses on downstream passing fish, the focus on negative effects on smolts has increased. The aim of this study was to compare three different causes of losses of salmon smolts passing downstream through a power station area in the flow-controlled River Åbyälven in northern Sweden.A total of 61 wild salmon smolts were caught and radio-tagged in the River Åbyälven during their downstream migration in June 2009. The salmon smolts were released at three locations, 1.1 km upstream from the power station, in the turbine intake and in the upper part of a fishway, acting both for up- and downstream fish passage.

We know that more than 2/3 of insured dogs in Sweden are put to death by a veterinarian, which means that almost one third are killed in trauma, lost or die in some other way. An unknown number of these are killed by their owner with no veterinarian involved. This graduate thesis contains a specification of the laws that control euthanasia of dogs and cats in Sweden, and the veterinary medical basics on how to perform euthanasia. The objective is also to give understanding on how pet owners choose to put their animal to death and why, and to discuss whether that is an animal welfare problem. It is legal to kill dogs and cats by shooting, using a sporting gun, provided that it is done according to laws and regulations.
