Their main product, the DM 201, is outdated and has bigissues gaining new market shares. For example, no medical treatment center in Sweden usesDM 201 frequently. The project of developing a new instrument to replace it was assignedtwo students at the development engineering program at Halmstad University. The projectalso included integration of the new platform for DM 202 to HemoCue AB:s remainingproducts.The project began by defining the different technical areas concerned.

Den förlorade barndomen : - en studie av sex tidigare fosterbarns upplevelser av vanvård vid placering i samhällsvård

The purpose of this study has been to describe and analyze how former foster children experienced foster care which have been filled with maltreatment and neglect and how this has influenced their adult life when it comes to health, education and relationships. We also wanted to study how the former foster children coped with their placement. Furthermore we wanted to study whether there has been any turningpoints during their growth. Finally we wanted to describe how the former foster children experienced the authorities control. To make the purpose of this study complete we chose to use qualitative interviews with six former foster children as our research method.

Strategier för en gräsrotsbyråkrat : en intervjustudie av biståndshandläggning i äldreomsorgen

In our paper we chose to study care management in the old age care. According to the law for the social services the needs of elderly should govern the assistance they are granted. But research has shown that municipal guidelines govern the assistance and that the elderly have to adjust their needs to them. Thus there is a discrepancy between law and practice. The aim of this study was to understand how care managers relate to municipal guidelines, laws and the requests of elderly when the application for assistance is established.

Behöver gymanställdaegentligen kunna något mer änträningssteg? : En studie av hur företaget SATS arbetar medkompetensutveckling

Den här uppsatsen behandlar kompetensutvecklingen på träningsföretaget SATS. Syftet är att undersöka synen på kompetensutvecklingen hos SATS ledning och de anställda, vilket innefattar hur företaget arbetar med att utveckla kompetensen hos sina anställda och vilka möjligheter samt eventuella hinder personalen upplever för kompetensutvecklingen. Andra intressanta aspekter som undersöks är vilka kompetenser som är viktiga inom SATS, hur synen på kompetensutveckling konstrueras i relation till företagskulturen och ledarskapet samt varför svaren i SATS medarbetarundersökning från 2009 skiljer sig åt gällande kompetensutveckling mellan två center i Stockholm. Jag tillämpar en kvalitativ metod med åtta intervjupersoner, fyra på respektive center. Uppsatsen visar att synen på kompetensutveckling till stor del överensstämmer mellan intervjupersonerna, att den både sker genom utbildningar och i det dagliga arbetet vilket även är i linje med SATS syn.

Background:The concept of transition means a change in a person's life where he or she is forced to adapt. There are different phases in life that results in different adaptations. In this essay, transition is described as the physical and mental journey between the home and an elder care facility. The Aim was to describe elderly people's experiences of transition when moving from their previous home into an elder care facility. The Method used was a literature review.

Information till hjärtsviktspatienter under vårdtiden på sjukhus : En empirisk studie

Heart failure is the most common reason to hospitalization among persons over 65 years old. Self-care is an important part in the treatment of heart failure, but poor information and knowledge limits the ability of self-care and increases the risk of admission to hospital.The aim of the study was to investigate what information patients with heart failure describes that they receive from health care personal, how information is perceived, who provides the information, and on what occasions it is given. The aim was also to investigate whether patients' perception of knowledge about heart failure increased after hospitalization.The study is cross-sectional study with a descriptive design. A consecutive selection was used. A questionnaire was filled in by 28 participants.The study has shown that patients with heart failure largely experience information about heart failure inadequate.

Att vårda en närstående i hemmet vidlivets slut : En livsberikande erfarenhet?

Background: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD), as a consequence of atherosclerosis in the arteria of the limbs, affects one of ten Swedes older than 65. PAD can develop slowly and silently, and involves an increased risk for cardiac infarction and stroke. Measurement of the patient´s ankle blood pressure and calculation of the ankle-brachial index is an evidence-based method to discover PAD. Objective: To investigate how district nurses and general practitioners perceive this method of examination and experience possible obstacles to why it is not more commonly applied at primary health care centres. Method: Data collected by semi-structured interviews have been processed by qualitative content analysis with a manifest onset.

Every year, Swedish municipalities transfer considerable amounts of profit from public housing companies to the owner municipality. Municipalities are allowed to do this, provided that the money is used to pay for certain purposes. But there are no legal repercussions if they do not comply. Not all municipalities choose to transfer profits. Based on partisan theory, this difference could be explained by the political governance of the municipality.

Äldreomsorgen och de sju små doktrinerna: En empirisk studie av New Public Management-reformer inom svensk äldreomsorg

The purpose of this paper is to perform an in-depth analysis of how New Public Management reforms have impacted management practises in two publicly financed elderly care providers in Sweden. The paper studies one public and one private elderly care provider and analyses to what extent they have implemented New Public Management methods. The results are based on interviews with several persons within the two organisations and analysed using the seven New Public Management doctrines as described by Christopher Hood (1991; 1995). The major finding in the thesis is that the level of exposure towards New Public Management reforms differs between the two studied organisations where the private provider is exposed to the reforms to a greater extent than the public. The paper concludes that the main reasons for the low extent of exposure in the public provider could be attributed to the lack of measurable standards performance as well as the proximity to the political leadership..

Kommunikation som berör - En observationsstudie om sjuksköterskans kommunikation med närstående inne på patientrummet på IVA

Patients in intensive care are often intubated, and therefore unable to speak, which leads to difficulties in communication. The ICU is a very stressful environment and can be experienced as foreign and frightening by both patients and their close ones. The ICU nurse?s caring responsibilities includes both the care of the critically ill patient and the support of relatives who are often in shock. This balance is not always straightforward, and acting professionally in both instances can lead to problems.

Chefen - generalist, administratör och ledare? : En kvalitativ studie rörande chefers upplevelse av arbetssituationen relaterat till stödet från HR-funktionen på Trafikverket.

Arbetslivet förändras och detta leder till förändringar av organisering och struktur inom organisationer. För att möta behov av flexibilitet, effektivitet och konkurrenskraft har nya sätt att organisera resulterat i nya ramar och strukturer för arbete med personalfrågor.  Dessa nya sätt att organisera har lett fram till nya roller och ansvarsfördelningar.I denna studie var syftet att skapa förståelse för hur HR- funktionens utformning påverkar chefers arbetssituation. Studien undersökte chefers upplevelser av HR-stödet i relation till arbetssituationen inom en organisation där HR-stödet bygger på ett service center, en expertenhet och HR business partners ute i verksamheten. Uppsatsen bygger på tio kvalitativa intervjuer med HR-medarbetare och chefer på Trafikverket.Studien visar att cheferna upplever ett tillfredställande HR-stöd från expertenheten och HR business partners. Samordningsproblem inom HR-funktionen ger dock effekter för både chefer och HR-medarbetare inom organisationen.

Ledarskapets betydelse för medarbetares arbetstillfredsställelse i detaljhandelsmiljö

Attacken den 11 september 2001 mot USA och World Trade Center blev händelsen som startade hela världens krig mot terrorism. I och med detta har flertalet terrornätverk dykt upp och terrorismen har lämnat få människor opåverkade.Detta arbete syftar till att analysera hur attacken på World Trade Center påverkade händelseförloppet i USA och den militära insatsen. Genom att använda John Wardens teori om luftrumskontroll kommer en jämförande studie mellan hur luftstridskrafterna användes under konflikten i Kosovo år 1999 och under den i Afghanistan för att förklara likheter och skillnader.Studien utgår från en kvalitativ dataanalys av rapporter skrivna i direkt närhet till respektive konflikt.Undersökningens resultat visar på ett väl organiserat och standardiserat sätt att utföra luftstrid på. En tydlighet i taktiken där fokus genomgående, i respektive konflikt, läggs på samma sorts mål. Men även tydliga skillnader mellan konflikterna går att särskåda men det påpekas dock att en direkt kausalitet mellan dessa skillnader och attacken är svår att peka ut.Slutligen förs en diskussion kring hur attacken kan ha påverkat den insats som gjordes i Afghanistan genom en jämförelse mellan båda konflikterna.

Kalkyler i vården: en översikt och ett praktikfall

This thesis investigates management accounting systems in a Swedish health care environment. Through a qualitative case study of an activity-based cost accounting system that was introduced in 1994 at S:t Görans Sjukhus, a large Stockholm hospital, the following questions are addressed: What benefits can an activity-based cost accounting system offer the Swedish health care providers? What are the potential problems impeding the implementation of such a system? Main findings: an activity-based cost accounting system can improve the understanding of where costs are generated in the production processes. Comparisons between alternative production processes are improved, and the data may serve as a basis for internal pricing measures. Concerning the second question, difficulty in reconciliating the principles of economic control with the culture present in a hospital is identified as the main obstacle to a new management accounting system..

Garden center and market gardens are a growing trade, undergoing great changes with new actors and purchasing habits. The interest in gardens and plants is steadily increasing, official statistics show an increase of garden plants and flower consumption, of an annual 3 per cent. Garden centers and market gardens are in great need of development to be able to tackle the prevailing competition, and maintain a steady growth. Many companies are heading for a generation shift and are founding it difficult to find and employ younger managers. The aim of this report is to examine different strategies of garden centers and market gardens through the manager/ owner?s views and opinions about competition, growth and success.

Alla pusselbitar behövs : En fallstudie om interprofessionellt teamarbete i äldreomsorgen

When the population is getting older, the need for complex care and nursing interventions in elderly care increases. To create a holistic view of the elder and their life situation, interprofessional team collaboration is often desirable and necessary. Teamwork is often described in positive terms, but previous research has shown that this work method is complicated and requires constant reflection and development. The purpose of this study was to investigate how elderly care teamwork is formed in the interaction between representatives of different professionals. To accomplish this purpose, we have studied how the team members define a well-functioning teamwork and difficulties, and how consensus is achieved in the team.
