Teching aid in form of schoolbooks plays an importent role. The teacher uses schoolbooks as a tool in its tutoring. I have examined how and whether the pictures in the schoolbooks are presenting people and ethnic minorities biased and stereotypical. The material I have examined consisted of a series of schoolbooks (So-direkt 1-3, samhällskunskap av Bonnier 2003).To find out if that is the case I have used a theory by Stuart Hall, his theory is about people and how they are represented in different types of media, like pictures and text. I studied it by using the method of image analysis where I investigated and interpreted the denotation and konnontation of the pictures.

In the autumn of 2012 the fictional character ?Lilla Hjärtat? created by the Swedish authorand illustrator Stina Wirsén, became a much-discussed topic in Swedish media. Thisfollowing the premiere of the children?s film ?Liten Skär och alla små brokiga?.Stina Wirsén is an established and well-acclaimed name in children?s literature. ?LillaHjärtat?, a jet-black doll, had become one of many popular characters in her books.

The Dark Side of the Word-of-Mouse Effect- An experimental study of how negative information in today?s social media can influence consumer perception As a result of the electronic revolution of information dissemination, social media as a phenomenon has come to play an important part, both in society at large but also when it comes to business and marketing. Nowadays, knowledge and opinions about brands and products are spread by reputation through a wide range of social media platforms, a phenomenon which in the literature is referred to as word-of-mouse or electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM).The purpose of this paper is to investigate how people?s opinions towards a company and its product are affected by negative information in terms of eWOM. Or more precisely, whether or not there is a difference in this effect depending on information content, concerning company values on the one hand and product attributes on the other.This was done in an experimental setting where two groups of respondents were subjected to fictitious information of different types using established social media platforms.

Denna uppsats undersöker hur politiska konflikter varugörs till turism via texter på Internet. Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka hur en plats som präglats av en politisk konflikt i modern tid använder sitt historiearv i turistisk marknadsföring. För att få svar på studiens frågeställningar genomfördes en kvalitativ textanalys på fyra utvalda hemsidor på Internet, varav samtliga av dessa aktörer är från Bosnien & Hercegovina och har ett huvudfokus på staden Mostar. Uppsatsen har vidare två frågeställningar. Den första lägger vikt på att besvara vilken typ av information eller tema som dominerar vardera undersökt hemsida.

The purpose of the present study was to examine effects of driver, vehicle, and environment characteristics on Collision Warning System (CWS) design. One hypothesis was made that the capability of collision avoidance would not be same among a driver, vehicle, and environment group with different characteristics. Accident analysis and quantitative analysis was used to examine this hypothesis in terms of ?risk? and ?safety margin? respectively. Rear-end collision had a stronger focus in the present study.

The aim of the research project ?The menacing immigration and ideal Swedishness:A semiotic analysis of the Sweden Democrats campaign films? was to highlight how ethnicities are portrayed in five different campaign films produced by the Swedish party the Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna). The applied theories are stereotypes, binary oppositions as well as the theory of whiteness and blackness. The method used to analyse the campaign films are semiotics, and the tools denotation, connotation, anchoring, relay, metonymy and myths. The results show that a person?s skin colour is of minor importance.

Discussing light and lighting in the night-time environment of Tensta, a Stockholm suburb built between 1962 and 1970, this thesis suggests that lighting should be designed for the outdoor environment as a whole. The feeling of safety and human perception are important components in this thesis. Starting with some comments on visual perception and how we adapt our sight to an interval of the visual input we get, makes it possible to understand that more light sometimes hides, rather than reveals, things. Amongst the dispersed houses, in the green parks of Tensta, this turns the pedestrian roads, lit by pole-top-mounted fixtures, into light tunnels in a dark surrounding. Denna studie ämnar belysa de två företagen Match och Victoria Milans TV-reklamfilmer. Det primära syftet är att undersöka vilka retoriska grepp Match och Victoria Milan använder sig av i reklamfilmerna för att värva nya betalande medlemmar till webbplatserna. Genom retorisk analys granskas respektive reklamfilm. De retoriska teorier som används är ethos, pathos, logos -triaden och de semiotiska aspekterna denotation och konnotation. I mitt arbete analyserar jag även videoproduktionstekniken för att belysa kameravinklar.

In Sweden exist a Swedish institute for children?s book which is a national information center. They have an annual "Book tasting" where they present statistics and trends from the latest publications of literature for youth and children.In their ?book tasting?? from 2010 a number of picture books had, as they say, children who descend from non-Swedish culture (Swedish institute for children?s book, 2010). The aim of this thesis is to investigate how the ethnical diversity describes in these picture books from 2010. To understand how the ethnical diversity describes in these books I had two questions which helped me in my research.

Vi upplever att det i dagens samhälle gärna uttrycks åsikter om vad som anses vara rätt eller fel i olika sammanhang, likaså när det gäller ledarskap, många bär på tankar kring vad som anses vara det perfekta ledarskapet. Ställs frågan får man inte sällan ett detaljerat svar med specifika kvalifikationer. Vi misstänker att åsikter och värderingar som florerar i samhället kan få oanade konsekvenser. Följande kvalitativa studie syftar till att genom en fallstudie på fyra djupintervjuer försöka avslöja olika strategier som tillämpas för att exkludera unga chefer i företag. Genom att blottlägga dessa strategier hoppas vi samtidigt göra dem mindre verkningsfulla.

Vi har gjort en studie som syftar till att undersöka hur miljödebatten och klimatfrågan påverkat dagens organisationer. I ett led att genomföra studien har vi utgått från vår kvalificerade gissning innebärande att ett nytt paradigm har gett sig till känna. Paradigmet benämns som miljöinriktat management. Vår problemdiskussion utmynnar i frågeställningar om hur organisationer bör hantera uppkomsten av miljöinriktat management. Vidare frågor som berörs är hur ledare bör hantera paradigmskiftet och vilka risker ett utelämnande av miljöinriktat management innebär.

Trakthyggesbruk är det skogsbruk som i över ett halvt sekel dominerat i Sverige. På senare år har dock detta skogsbruk ifrågasatts gällande främst den naturhänsyn som det lämnar samt att trakthyggesbruket bedrivs på i princip all skogsmark som brukas. Detta leder till liten variation bland de uppväxande skogarna, och flera myndighetsutredningar och rapporter hävdar att Sveriges nationella mål för bevarande av natur och miljö inte kommer att nås om inga omfattande förändringar görs i sättet att bruka skogarna på. I denna rapport undersökte jag om zonerat skogsbruk, s.k. triadskogsbruk, är ett bra alternativ till dagens traditionella skogsbruk i Sverige i syfte att uppnå hög virkesproduktion och biologisk mångfald på landskapsnivå.

Salome is the myth of the Oriental princess who dances for her stepfather, Herod the tetrark at his banquet. He becomes so enchanted by Salome's dance that he allows her to wish for what she wants. On the advice of Queen Herodias, Salome's mother, she asks the head of prophet John on a platter. Herod is horrified, but grants Salome's desire.This is the first in a series of Salome petitions as Mark and Matthew in the New Testament. Salome has since then never ceased to fascinate artists and writers through the ages.

Equal treatment in school is an on-going debate in the Swedish society. At the same time teachers around the country struggles to make ends meet because of a heavy workload. Voices have been raised that teachers no longer have the time to actually be teachers since they get piled up with paper work and other administrative tasks. However, schools are bound by law to take action against harassments and discrimination of any kind. There is also an overall policy in the Swedish national curriculum that every school must embrace diversity and actively teach students about solidarity and respect.

This report presents suggestions and recommendations on how to convert an old industrial building, built in 1958, to an office hotel. One of the main criteria was that the floor plan should be flexible. The building is situated at Jonsereds Fabriker and the study was conducted for Hantverkslokaler i Göteborg AB, the estate owner.The survey is initiated with study visits at various office hotels, together with studies of literature regarding office planning. One conclusion from the study visits is that meeting-places, where the different companies can meet and exchange ideas and services, are important. Another one, and probably the most important parameter when planning offices is that they should have windows.
