Title: This is not Africa - West African teaching methods in Sweden. This is a work of "translation". The study started with a musical journey to Guinea, West Africa. It was a field study where I had the opportunity to open my senses towards another culture and another kind of music. I found another learning tradition and decided to try to bring it with me back to Sweden, into the Swedish school system.

Många hus från miljonprogrammet är idag i behov av flera större renoveringsåtgärder. Husen från miljonprogrammet har betydligt högre energiförbrukning än vad dagens byggkrav tillåter, och med nya mål från bland annat EU och Sveriges regering som snart träder i kraft, är det viktigt att något görs åt dessa energislukande byggnader. Syftet med rapporten är att jämföra ett renoveringsalternativ med ett nybyggnationsalternativ ur en ekonomisk- samt ur en energisynpunkt. Målet är att föreslå det mest lönsamma alternativet. För att nå målet kommer program som Revit Architecture, IDA ICE och BidCon användas samt litteraturstudier.

Public libraries have an important roll of making information accessible to all people. This democratic right supports the cultural development in our society. When public libraries build websites offering information and services it can sometimes cause obstacles for impaired users. It is therefore our purpose to evaluate a selection of websites and library plans to examine how the libraries work with accessibility for these users. This thesis is based on theories of cognitive and human computer interaction, and information architecture.

Title: Violin technique in folk music education. The purpose of this research has been to examine how violin teachers who are folk musicians teach violin playing techniques. Through litterature studies and qualitative interviews I have studied the relationship between teaching methods regarding violin playing techniques of the two genres folk music and classical music and how the teachers in the study relate to this. Mywork shows that the teachers use a variety of methods and material from both genres which they have come in contact with through different parts of their education.Jag har undersökt hur fyra fiollärare inom genren folkmusik arbetar med fiolteknik med sina elever. Genom litteraturstudier och kvalitativa intervjuer har jag undersökt relationen mellan undervisningstraditioner för teknikövning inom genrerna folkmusik och klassisk musik och hur lärarna förhåller sig till detta.

Kraven på att nybyggda bostäder ska vara energisnåla i driftskedet ökar hela tiden av flera anledningar. Dels vill brukarna hålla driftskostnaderna så låga som möjligt och dels är det miljöaspekten som spelar in. Men hur energisnål kan en villa egentligen göras och hur påverkas arkitekturen då den görs extremt energieffektiv?I den här rapporten utreds tio energieffektiva principer som kan användas för att göra en villa mer energisnål och energiproducerande. Alla tio principer har tillämpats i en villa som projekterats under arbetets gång.

The purpose of this thesis is to critically investigate how to understand the regional transformations that are occurring in Sweden and Denmark. At a higher level of abstraction the results can be generalised to a wider context and I have found that there is an ideological hegemony that explains the regional transformation. Nation states are reterritorialising due to a changing world where global capital is becoming increasingly flexible and competition between states, regions and municipalities is needed to adjust. By using Sandberg's model of structural reforms I have shown that the differences between Sweden's and Denmark's reterritorialisation are due to differences in national political culture and existing administrative systems. In fact these two structural reforms are based on the same regionalist ideology as a reaction to the changing global economy.To investigate the regional transformations I have carried out an idea and ideology analysis on the recent Swedish proposal from Ansvarskommittén, Strukturkommissionen in Denmark and the proposal by the Danish government which was carried out in 2007.

I samband med dagens lågkonjunktur, ökade globalisering samt en ökandekonkurrensmarknad tillkommer en ökad komplexitet av verksamheter. Det är även viktigt för dagens verksamheter att öka sina resurser och minska sina kostnader samtidigt som de skall öka sina vinster. För att motverka komplexiteten och maximera vinsten behövs nya, fler och innovativa IT-lösningar. Användning av ett arkitektuellt ramverk som Zachmans kan vara till fördel i en verksamhet, dock är det en investering som i sig kan vara kostsam ochtidskrävande, det är därmed viktigt för verksamhetens ledning och medarbetare att försöka tänka långsiktigt istället för kortsiktigt och se till hur en användning av ramverket kan vara till nytta för verksamheten. Efter en teoriinsamling och intervjuer med experter på området, gårdet att konstatera att trots vissa kritiska ställningstaganden mot ramverket Zachman, har en användning av ramverket ändå full kapacitet att påverka ekonomin i en verksamhet.

Denna uppsats handlar om genius loci. Utgångspunkten har varit en tes om att det är ett begrepp som vi landskapsarkitekter intuitivt förstår och påverkas av men skulle ha nytta av att konkretisera. Målet är att hitta fram till möjliga svar på dessa frågor:Hur kan landskapsarkitekten tolka begreppet genius loci?Hur kan landskapsarkitekten arbeta i praktiken för att finna en plats genius?Genom att undersöka begreppet genius loci utifrån både ett teoretiskt och ett praktiskt perspektiv hoppas jag kunna skapa en ökad förståelse för hur och varför vi landskapsarkitekter kan använda det. Genom studier av bland annat Christian Norberg-Schulz verk Genius loci: towards a phenomenology of architecture samt intervjuer och reflektioner över min egen praktik har jag kommit fram till att tesen stämmer.

An emerging trend within the construction industry is the expectation of the customer to experience and sense the product, maybe even in a customized manner. The latter trend would extend the necessity of incorporating not only function and aesthetics, but also perception and sensation. To meet this trend while at the same time improve the productivity the use of information technology such as BIM and technical platforms has increased in construction projects. Nevertheless, in spite of large investments, the construction industry has not managed to increase the effectiveness and productivity as much as other industries. Evident is that successful use of information technology depend on the integration and collaboration of various experts in a continuous and dynamic process.

Title: How do music students with different genre backgrounds perceive the same music? In this paper I report a study about how music students with different genre background perceive the same music. I let twentyone classical music upper secondary school pupils and twentyone rock music upper secondary school pupils listen to ten short music pieces of different character and styles. While listening, they were asked to answer four questions about which instruments they could perceive, what they could tell about pulse, rhythm and beat in the music, which component they thought was the most important in the piece and what word they thought best described the feeling of the piece. All four questions had to be answered for each piece of music to facilitate analysis of differences connected to genre background in those answers.

Detta arbete grundar sig på en befintlig ritning projekterad av Arkinova Arkitekter och uppfyller normal tillgänglighetsnivå. Ritningen består av ett lägenhetsplan med fem lägenheter vilka har en boarea mellan 36-64 m2. I detta arbete omprojekterades dessa lägenheter till höjd tillgänglighetsnivå enligt SS med avsikt att förbättra tillgängligheten för funktionshindrade grupper. Omprojekteringen utfördes med hjälp av BIM-programmet Revit Architecture 2013 med utgångspunkt från standarderna,           SS 91 42 21:2006 samt SS 91 42 22:2006, vilka utgör underlag för projektering av bostäder.       Syftet med denna studie var att utreda de merkostnader som är förknippade med en tillgänglighetsökning, dessa merkostnader beräknades i kalkylprogrammet BidCon.Resultatet visade att för att uppfylla SS rekommendationer kring ökad tillgänglighet, var en ökning av bruttoarean med 84 m2 i den ursprungliga ritningen oundviklig. Detta innebar en total ökning av bruttoarean med 25 %, vilket resulterade i merkostnader som uppgick till  126 014 SEK för lägenhetsplanet i höjd nivå.

This project is focusing on a future park that will surround Hyllie water tower in the outskirts of Malmö. The water tower will be located in the central part of the new building area Hyllievång. The park will function as a town park with a special focus on water. The water council of the municipality, Va-verket, has for the last 7 years built up and been in charge for a pedagogical programme in the water tower, were schoolchildren come to learn about the cycle of water and how we use water in our daily life. In the park they want to build a new part that gives experience of water, as a compliment to the information in the tower. What will that park look like, and what shall it be constructed of? How do you bring water to the surface in a park? How can landscape architecture work to enhance the presence of water and make people more interested in water issues? In the search to find the answers to all my questions I have meet with people, read books and visited different places.

I uppsatsen undersöks Le Corbusiers L'Esprit Nouveaupaviljong på Parisutställningen 1925, som en utställningspaviljong bland många andra. En historisk utblick bidrar till att bättre förstå det franska samhället under 1920-talet och därmed också till att sätta in både Parisutställningen och L'Esprit Nouveaupaviljongen i en större kontext. Parisutställningen kan räknas till samma tradition som de stora världsutställningarna som hölls runt om i världen från mitten på 1800-talet varför också de franska världsutställningarna och utställningsarkitektur i allmänhet studeras. Vidare beskrivs utställningsområdet liksom arkitekturen, både den på utställningen dominerande stilen och den mindre representerade modernismen samt hur utställningsarkitekturen, framförallt den moderna, diskuterades i pressen under samtiden.L'Esprit Nouveaupaviljongen beskrivs detaljerat, liksom dess placering på utställningsområdet, samt hur den stilmässigt förhöll sig till den övriga utställningsarkitekturen. Le Corbusiers texter, i första hand hämtade från hans bok Vers une architecture, bidrar till att förstå vilka teoretiska ställningstaganden som ligger bakom byggnaden.

More and more people today manage their social relationships through social networking sites. A social networking site is a virtual place where people can meet and interact with each other. On such sites, one can use the various features and attributes to present ourselves to the friends we have online. The central question of this report is what characteristics of relationships show on social networking sites. With the features and attributes that are represented and whether the architect for a social networking site affects the relationship between friends.

The main purpose of a Flight Data Recorder (FDR) is to facilitate the investigation of incidents. In order to interpret the data that has been recorded in the FDR the data has to be visualized in some way. This can be done with software on a computer or with hardware that is specific for the model of aircraft that the data originates from.The aim of this project is to visualize data for six parameters from the FDR of Saab 2000 in an avionics rig. The avionics rig resembles the cockpit of Saab 2000 and the displays in it are identical to the ones found in the plane. All six parameters are shown on the same display.Due to safety regulation vital systems in aircraft are doubled, with one system on the left side and one on the right.
