Striga hermonthica, a parasitic weed, has long been believed to be correlated with the declining soil fertility status. However scientists have recently come to question this statement since some recent studies have shown contradictive results. To investigate whether soil fertility status and infestation of Striga hermonthica were correlated and the impact of it were caused by farmer management, 120 farmers in Western Kenya, where Striga hermonthica infestation is prone, participated in this study. In three districts with two sub-locations each, farmers answered a structural questionnaire and identified two fields, one with high and one with low soil fertility. These fields later came to be the basis for this study and soil were therefore also sampled from them.

Beef production in Sweden has traditionally been about rearing of dairy calves to slaughter. With reduced number of dairy cows and accordingly less dairy calves for slaughter, there has been a need for new forms of beef production in Sweden. In Västerbotten there are good conditions for beef production with a high feeding level of roughage due to favourable climate. The aim of this thesis is to, through interviews with ten farmers with beef production in Västerbotten, study what and with how much they feed their animals and link the results to production level. The thesis begins with a literature review where the general feeding standards and feeding recommendations for beef cows and growing cattle are examined.

Bara under de senaste åren har en rad ekonomiska skandaler skett på grund av manipulation i bokföringen. Manipulation som i de fall som vi tar upp Enron, Woldcom samt Skandia inte hade varit möjliga att genomföra utan hjälp av revisorer. Enron skandalen som var den första av de tre nämna har bidragit till införandet av Sarbanes-Oxely Act. En lag som bland annat kräver revisorrotation, det vill säga en revisor får inte sitta och skriva under revisionsberättelsen på samma firma mer än 5 år innan det ska ske ett byte. Även EU har efter skandalerna bidragit med en liknande rekommendation som innebär att en rotation bland revisorerna förespråkas vart 7:e år.

Bakgrund: Truppgymnastik är en relativt ung tävlingsgren inom gymnastik med ursprung från de Nordiska länderna. I Sverige är det den mest utövade formen av tävlingsgymnastik med flest rapporterade  skador i nedre extremiteten samt återkommande besvär i ryggen. Tester i syfte att förebygga skador är efterfrågade och få studier har utvärderat tester för idrottande barn och ungdomar.Syftet med studien var att beskriva en grupp unga truppgymnaster utifrån bakgrundsvariabler, och rörelsekontroll med screeningtestet Performance Base Matrix samt att mäta förekomst av muskuloskelettala skador under en period på sju månader. Metod: Nitton unga truppgymnaster (flickor,7-9 år) genomförde screeningtestet Base Matrix i syfte att bedöma deras rörelsekontroll vid låg respektive/ low threshold och hög belastning/ high threshold. Testerna analyserades visuellt och genom videoupptagning. Resultatet av testerna dokumenterades i ett protokoll som bearbetades on-line samt för beräkning av procentuell förekomst av sämre utförd test i form av svaga länkar.

Apassive house is intended to obtain heat from the inhabitants and through theiractivities.

Detta arbete har bedrivits som ett produktutvecklingsprojekt där ett koncept på en testrigg för kolvpartiet i Hägglunds Drives hydraulmotor Compact CA har tagits fram. Kolvpartiet är en viktig del av hydraulmotorn vars prestanda påverkar hela motorns prestanda. Ett kolvparti består av en kolv och en kamrulle och i en motor finns det ett flertal kolvpartier, vilket gör det svårt att utföra mätningar på kolvpartiet på plats i motorn. Kolven trycker kamrullen mot en kamring som i sin tur gör så att kolven trycks mot väggen av den cylinder som kolven är placerad i. Detta leder till att ett vridmoment skapas mellan kamring och det cylinderblock som cylindrarna är placerade i.

Genom arbetsrotation vill Kvarnsvedens pappersbruk säkerställa att det dagliga arbetets kvalitet och att det finns kompetent personal i framtiden. I och med införandet av arbetsrotation har frågor uppkommit om risken för att specialistkompetens går förlorad.

The purpose with this literature study was to investigate the possibilities for improvement of forage protein in dairy cows with focus on feeding strategies and conservation of forage protein. The utilization of forage protein in dairy cows is often not that efficient as it could be. The feed crude protein consists of both true proteins and non protein nitrogen. The digestion of proteins in the rumen depends on the protein degradation rate and the ability of the microbes to synthesize microbial protein. The microbes need a balance between carbohydrates that provide them with energy and proteins that are degradable in the rumen.

MEFOS är en samarbetspartner i EU-projektet AwiCCo (Advanced Width and Camber Control) där ett av delmålen är att konstruera ett nytt inledarsystem som förhindrar krökning av varmvalsade band. Under november 2006 kommer MEFOS att sätta upp en prototyp av detta inledarsystem i sin försökshall där utförliga tester kommer att genomföras. Prototypen består av sex rulledare som på ingångssidan mäter de krafter som krävs för att förhindra ämnets förflyttning i sidled. Utifrån dessa mätningar försöker man förhindra krökningen av ämnet genom att momentant justera valsskevningen. Målet med mitt examensarbete har varit att skapa en FEM modell som simulerar valsning av band med denna prototyp som inledare och att med denna modell undersöka relationen mellan krökning och valsskevning och vilka krafter som rulledarna utsätts för.

The Chinese government´s aim to be self-sufficient in food production in combination with the increased food consumption in China has put high pressure on the productivity within the Chinese agricultural sector (He j et al, 2010). In order to increase the productivity, modernization and adoption of new farming techniques are essential. The opportunity to adopt and import foreign technology has lately been possible in China, as more authority and decision rights have been given to the individual farmers and the country has opened up for foreign trade (Zheng, 2012 & Fan, 1991). A more open Chinese market enables new opportunities for foreign agricultural companies to expand their businesses by introducing their products to Chinese farmers. But to succeed with this strategy the Chinese farmers must be willing to adopt these, for them new innovations. Minimum tillage is a tillage practice used worldwide that is suitable in northern China where drought and erosion are the main problems in the crop production (pers.com., Arvidsson, 2012). Potential users? opinion of new innovations such as minimum tillage is closely related to adoption (Rogers, 2003).

This master thesis is about the collaboration between the custom dairy heifer grower and thedairy producer.The custom dairy heifer grower is a rather unusual strategy of reproductive management inSweden compared to other countries like U.S. and Denmark where the specialization withindairy production gone much further. In these countries the research also has reached muchfurther within this type of industry. However in Sweden there has been research made in thearea of collaboration, but then only within collaborations in the industries of crop production,dairy production and pork meat.The down going trend of profitability within dairy production together with poor profitabilityin the beef industry could partly remedy if more collaborations around heifer contractingwould arise. But since the industry still is of a rare kind in Sweden the knowledge about howthese types of collaborative arrangements works and their contracts are put together is poor.By that the aim of this master thesis is formulated as follows: "how is usually thecollaborative arrangement between the dairy producer and custom dairy heifer growerdesigned".

De senaste årens skandalaffärer såsom Enron, Ahold, Parmalat och WorldCom ledde till att allmänhetens förtroende för finansmarknaden försämrades. Den internationella debatten om hur man skall återskapa förtroendet har dominerats av hur man skall öka tilltron till revisionen. En viktig faktor för att uppnå förtroendet är revisorns oberoende gentemot sina klienter. I vår uppsats kommer vi att fokusera oss på revisors oberoende och åtgärder som kan vidtas för att kunna stärka detta oberoende. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka vilka förebyggande åtgärder som skulle kunna stärka revisors neutrala ställning vid uppkomsten av beroendesituationer.

Studiens syfte har varit att förklara i vilken utsträckning icke-finansiellt beroende hos revisorer kan uppstå genom revisorernas identifikation med klienter samt undersöka dess effekter på revisorns oberoende och objektivitet. Vidare har vi försökt undersöka hur klientidentifikationen kan påverkas av professionell identifiering och revisorsrotation. Således har vår problemformulering varit ?Hur identifierar revisorerna sig med sina klienter hur detta påverkar revisorns objektivitet? Hur påverkas klientidentifikationen av revisorns profession? Hur kan revisorsrotationen bidra till en minskning av identifikationen med klienten? ?.Det empiriska materialet har samlats in genom en elektronisk enkätundersökning som skickades ut till 1200 godkända och auktoriserade revisorer i Sverige. Bortfallet blev 87 %, den bakomliggande anledningen kan vara att enkäten skickades ut i samband med alla deklarationer.

For a few decades, the wild boars are established over large areas in southern and centralSweden. Where they cause problems in terms of damage to crops in the agriculturelandscape, where rooting, browsing and trampling, but also damage to the crop when wildboars chosen daily rest in the cultivated fields. Along with the growing number of wildboars the rate of car accident with wild boars has also increased.Here I examined the daily rests of wild boar (Sus scrofa) sows in southern Sweden, todetermine the factors which the wild boars sows choose for daily rest. By determining whatfactors are important in this selection of daily rests, we may be able to make managementmeasures to reduce the damage wild boars make in the agriculture landscape by attractingthem to places where they do less economic damage and accidents on roads.In this study I have examined 123 daily rest positions from 14 different individual wildboar sows fitted with GPS collared in Southern Sweden, Skåne County in Christinehof,Högestad Kronovalls estate. Data was collared over the years 2004-2006 during the periodfrom June 1 to September 30.

Until 2020, 49% of Sweden's use of energy must derive from renewable sources. Greenhouse gases must as well decline with 40% compared to 1990 as a part of Sweden's 16 environmental objectives. Biogas is part of the effort to achieve these objectives, but as the demand for biogas increases, more substrates are needed to meet the demand. The purpose is to investigate the conditions for pea residue as substrate by performing lab-scale mesophilic digestion with different fractions and notch lengths and then to summarize pea residue as a substrate for biogas production. During anaerobic digestion, 1000 ml bottles were used as reactors for digestion.
