The purpose of this study was to examine the discourses that can be identified in medias representation of social services. To answer the purpose we made a critical discourse analysis using Faircloughs three-dimensional model. The choice to focus our study on a local newspaper was based on earlier research that found it possible that a local paper has a greater impact on readers than a national newspaper. Readers can more easily connect with what's happening in the immediate environment than what is written nationally. We used articles published in 2013 containing ?social services?.

 This study examines the way Swedish students in Upper Secondary School respond to two excerpts from a classic Swedish novel. The paper?s aim is both to give an overview over some of the theoretical concepts concerning the field of reader-response criticism, and to describe and analyse what the students experience in their first meeting with an older text. The background to my interest is the many studies showing that young readers regard reading of fiction in school as boring. By using the method of written reading responses I want to contribute to a deeper understanding of how an older text can be received, understood and engage its readers.

After repeated criticism of the social services about how they manage family care, the National Board of Health and Welfare decided to solve the problem by importing a model used in England (Integrated children's system). This was translated into Swedish conditions and named BBIC (Barns behov i centrum = Child?s needs at the center). Our study aims to investigate whether BBIC will contribute to more and more extensive follow-ups of children placed than before, with a focus on the child's best. This has been studied through qualitative interviews with six social workers who work with children investigations.

However, the picture-show was mainly produced by the author of this paper. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the understanding of classification as it is manifested in the discussion of implementing DDC in the BIBSAM-libraries. This is accomplished through the answering of three questions: 1. How does the discussion go about the implementation of DDC in the "Cataloguing practises: a survey of Swedish research libraries" project?2. Have there been any criticism against the project or the implementation and, in that case, what does it say?3.

The integration policy in Sweden has received criticism for being disintegrating due to the structure of division between those that integrate and those who are to be integrated, a division between ?us? and ?them?. In 2010 the reform Act on introduction activities for certain newly arrived immigrants (2010:197), was carried out to facilitate the integration of newly arrived immigrants on the labor market. The purpose of this thesis is to study power and discrimination structures within the reform by applying an intersectional theoretical framework. Intersectionality is based on the notion that different forms of discrimination such as gender, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation etc.

While the call for regulations against greenhouse gas emissions are louder then ever before, demand for oil is also at an all time high. Oil companies face the dilemma of making sound business without being perceived as environmental villains. In this essay I will examine how BP, one of the largest companies in the world, broke rank with the industry and devoted itself to being an environmental friendly oil company. The actions and motives of this change will be evaluated through up-to-date theories about company motivation to environmental adaptation. We see that BP:s transformation can be well explained through Simone Pulvers theory about the socially embedded company.

This study aims to analyse how sex and sexuality are presented in the Buddhism and Hinduism chapters of religious studies textbooks for upper secondary school. The chosen textbooks are all linked to the new curriculum Lgr 11 which was implemented in the Swedish school system in the spring of 2012. The textbooks were analysed by using two methods; content analysis and discourse analysis. Content analysis was used to examine with which frequency sexes and sexualities appear in the textbooks, while discourse analysis was used to find what discourses surround the two concepts. The discourse analysis used two theories in order to contextualize the several discourses about sex and sexuality.

Chapter 6 of the Ch?ndogya Upani?ad has often been treated in works on early Indian philosophy, as well as in some comparative studies on color symbolism. Attempts to place it in a larger framework against the background of late Vedic religion are, however, few, the rationalistic and ?tradition-challenging? appearance of the text having repeatedly been emphasized. But the doctrine contained in the text ? a cosmologic teaching on the three elements constituting the universe, each being characterized by a color (red, white, black) ? and their microcosmic counterparts in the human body, does have some clear affinities to the worldview of the Br?hma?as and ?ra?yakas, which posits a series of similar correlations (bandhu-) between macro- and microcosmos.

After W.W. II the Social democratic government wanted to modernize and rationalize the Swedish society. The university system was reformed[INS: :INS] to support growth of industry and science. But the reform did not reach Swedish academic library system and it was not well organized. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the reaction of the Swedish academic libraries to the new era in the framework of ideological criticism.

In this essay I want to investigate how the Viking aristocratic warrior elite in Scandinavia used religious mythology for the construction of their identity. The essay also takes up the concept of honor, which was important for the warriors. Honor was central to all people during Viking age and for the warriors it was absolute. In the religious myths, the aristocratic warriors justify their position in society and legitimate their acts of war. Religion continues to have importance to the warrior elite even after the arrival of Christianity.

Den demografiska utvecklingens problematik är inte endast ett svenskt utan även ett globalt fenomen eftersom det kommer att ställa andra och högre krav på äldreomsorgen allteftersom omsorgsbehoven ökar. Föreliggande uppsats syfte är att undersöka äldre syrianers deltagande i den kommunala äldreomsorgen. Dessutom ämnas två frågeställningar besvaras dels kring vilket behov som finns av den offentliga äldreomsorgen. Dessutom rör frågeställningarna vad som kan påverka deltagandet i den offentliga äldreomsorgen och kan det påverkas av religiösa, språkliga eller kulturella faktorer? Uppsatsen utgår ifrån en kvantitativ ansats vars databearbetningsprocess baserar sig på en enkätundersökning innehållandes totalt 31 respondenter.

Syftet med studien är att kartlägga vilka möjligheter och hinder som finns med användningen av IKT i fråga om ordinlärningen för andraspråkselever. Uppsatsen belyser hur ordinlärningen kan stimuleras via IKT. I uppsatsen svarar vi på hypotesen, vilken är att andraspråkselever lättare lär sig ord via IKT än via traditionella läromedel. I interventionsstudien deltog 20 andraspråkselever i en årskurs tre i södra Sverige. Hälften av dessa elever ingick i kontrollgruppen och resterande elever ingick i interventionsgruppen. Interventionsgruppen fick öva ordinlärning via IKT medan kontrollgruppen fick öva ordinlärning via traditionellt läromedel.
