Where is technology heading? And how will our behaviors towards these new innovations look? This project questions the direction of ?beyond smart? products, through scenarios within our everyday life. The work is both critical and speculative. Speculative in the sense that it is speculating in how a future scenario with ?beyond smart? products would look like.

There is an irregularity in the interregional migration in Sweden. An increasing proportion ofthe population is drawn to the metropolitan areas, which creates problems for the smallermunicipalities and towns when their population declines. At the same time, our whole societyis faced with a great challenge: we need to redirect towards a sustainable development, wherethe environmental issues are discussed and dealt with to secure that all present and futuregenerations are given equal opportunities to live a good life.The aim of this study is to, focusing mainly on the environmental dimension of thesustainability concept, examine the attractivity of housing with sustainability claims. Toanswer this, three research questions were used:? Was the migration motive to reduce their environmental impact a part of the decision tomove, among migrants who had moved to housing with sustainability claims?? If the motive was a part of the decision, how much impact did it have compared to othermigration motives?? Which factors in housing aiming at sustainability are considered important by peopleliving in housing with sustainability claims?The research questions have been answered using quantitative data, gained in the form of selfadministeredquestionnaires which were distributed in four different residential areas withsustainability claims in the county of Västra Götaland, Sweden.

Syftet med denna uppsats var att beskriva under vilka omständigheter skolpsykologer upplever att deras kompetens tillvaratas i elevhälsan. Sju intervjuer genomfördes utifrån Critical Incident Technique och analyserades med innehållsanalys. Resultatet visade att 1) insats som genererar psykologisk insikt hos mottagaren, 2) kontroll över yrkesroll, 3) anpassning till given organisationsform, 4) ledning som har psykologisk kunskap och 5) välfungerande elevhälsoteam är viktiga omständigheter för att psykologisk kompetens ska tillvaratas. This master thesis deals with computer game classics and a possible computer game canon. It looks closer at four computer game genres - adventure, RPG, action and strategy - in order to discern which games are considered classics and what characterizes them. To answer the first question a quantitative research method was used. 675 computer game reviews from 5 Internetsites were examined in order to see which games are mentioned most often in this context and therefore might be considered classics. To answer the second question a qualitative research method was used.

The aim of this paper is to map out the purposes of the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. This is done in order to see if humanitarian tendencies have been an increasingly cause for the UN to initiate an intervention with military means. This paper uses the time period from the end of the cold war until today, since that historic occurrence increased the U.N.?s involvement in peacekeeping. By using this time span it enables the survey to indicate changes in the mapping of humanitarian interventions.

Problem/bakgrund: Simulering som teoretiskt begrepp, och det som finns i simuleringsbegreppets kontext - simulacrum, det hyperreella, symboler och bilder - framstår som abstrakt och svårfångat, på gränsen till ett skönlitterärt argumenterande. Vad innebär egentligen en simulering? Vad är simulacra? Och, framförallt, är simuleringsbegreppet värt att lägga värde i som ett teoretiskt begrepp? Det är min avsikt att, i denna uppsats, analysera detta begrepp. Att sätta det i sin teoretiska kontext och analysera begreppets förutsättningar.Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att, med hjälp av en analysmodell hämtad från den kritiska realismen, analysera simuleringsbegreppets sociologiska relevans.Tillvägagångssätt: Jag har valt att använda mig av en kritisk-realistisk kunskapssyn och undersöker simuleringsbegreppet utifrån en modell i sex steg. För att presentera simulerings begreppet använder jag mig av Jean Baudrillards teorier om simuleringsbegreppet och dess förutsättningar.

Syfte: Syftet med studien är att förstå konsumentens upplevelse avproduktplacering i elektroniska spel. Metod: Vi använder oss av fokusgrupper för att samla in empiriskt material. Den största fördelen med detta är att deltagarna i en fokusgrupp utmanas och ifrågasätts av de övriga gruppdeltagarna och därför måste deltagarna motivera och reflektera över sina ståndpunkter.Vi kan därför uppnå större förståelse av de bakomliggandeorsakerna till deltagarnas åsikter. Teoretiska perspektiv: Vi har använt oss av teorier om perception för att förstå hur konsumenternatar till sig produktplacering. Teorier om det implicita ochexplicita minnet hjälper oss förstå hur konsumenterna kommerihåg varumärken från produktplaceringen.

Studien belyser fenomenet lågpresterande chefer i större organisationer.Den har två frågeställningar:A: Hur bör organisationer möta lågpresterande chefer?B: Hur möter organisationer lågpresterande chefer?A studeras i första hand teoretiskt genom den litteratur som finns i ämnet.B belyses genom egna intervjuer om erfarenheten hos några stora företag eller organisationer.Datainsamlingsmetoden har varit kvalitativa intervjuer och som analysinstrument har Hertzbergs version av Critical Incident-metoden använts.Litteraturstudien resulterade i följande hypoteser:? De chefer som lågpresterar i förhållande till de sex företagskulturella målen och inte heller klarar att leverera resultat är på väg att bli eller är redan uppsagda.? De chefer som lågpresterar på något av de sex målen gällande företagskultur men klarar att leverera resultat finns kvar inom organisationen och är då föremål för åtgärder som utbildning, omplacering eller liknande.? Organisationers förväntningar på en chef är samstämmiga med de sex egenskaperna gällande företagskultur som den goda ledaren ska ha för att anses vara en god ledare samt en sjunde förväntan om kompetens och förmåga att leverera resultat. De brister som jag kommer att finna kommer att beröra eller gälla någon av dessa sju.Utifrån intervjustudien kunde bara den sista hypotesen bekräftas.Intervjustudien gav flera intressanta svar på hur organisationer möter lågpresterande chefer. Bland annat såg man Rekrytering, Utbildning/coachning och Omplacering som viktiga strategier för att undvika lågpresterande chefer. När det gäller förändringar på sikt sågs möjligheten att få bort prestigen med chefsjobb som en viktig del samt att alla chefsjobb borde vara på 3-årsperioder.

This study is about how changed light conditions induce dormancy in plants. It is divided in two parts. First a literature study where quantification of light, the concept dormancy, photoperiod and light quality are discussed. Second an experimental part, where the importance of light for sprouting capacity in root buds of perennial sow thistle (Sonchus arvensis L.) is investigated.In the science in how flowering in plants are induced the concepts short day/long day plants and light dominant/dark dominant are well-established. These concepts can also be applied to how light induce dormancy in plants.

This thesis focuses on the perception of immigration and refugees in the commonEuropean refugee and immigration policy. It identifies different discourses andstudies their development and interrelated power structures.Using the discourse theory of Laclau and Mouffe, documents from theEuropean Council, the Commission, the Justice and Home Affairs Council andParliament debates are analysed. The study is defined in the time span of 1999-2006, i.e. from the European Council's first agreement on developing a commonEuropean asylum system, following the period up till today.Four discourses are distinguished, focusing respectively on rights, security,European Union's needs, and cultural identity. I use Sandra Lavenex theory ofrealism and idealism to analyse one of the main points in the thesis: There is afundamental schism between the one rights-based discourse, focusing on universalhuman rights, and the three sharing a particularistic focus on immigration as asecurity concern.
