The purpose of this essay is to examine the relationship between visual communication and female homosexuality within the field of magazine design. As the creative part of the project I have chosen to make a redesign of Lotus magazine, the very first Swedish magazine with lesbian and bisexual girls as the target audience. The questions of which the project is based on are: Which stereotypes, differences and similarities can be found in visual communication addressed to a heterosexual versus a homosexual target audience? What kind of design attracts non-heterosexual girls and how can I create a design for Lotus magazine that is appealing to lesbian and bisexual girls and yet still makes it possible to compete with traditional girls? magazines? In order to examine my research questions I have done literature studies within the field of gender and sexual identity in relation to visual communication. Additionally, I have analysed the design of competing magazines on the market and conducted a survey among representatives of the target audience of Lotus magazine..

The objective of this thesis was firstly to examine the possibilities of creating a universal tool for evaluating IT-security. When all the material was gathered we saw that we had strayed away from our subject and that our focus was on IT-threats and IT-professionals apprehensions and possibilities on the subject. The purpose of this thesis was there after to find and identify threats and counter measures in publications and later discuss these with IT-professionals. We found and identified several threats that the professionals encountered in their work. These threats ranged from techniques used by hackers to threats that can arise when the users on the network are poorly educated.

This work is a study in how I as a designer can create the conditions for people to work, socializing and refreshments at one place. A place that encourages creativity, where I made a suggestion at a community table designed for Urban Deli?s new business. By visiting various similar sites I have identified what I think is important in an environment like this and then gave an answer to it in a visual form.A cafe-office will draw lots of different people. Which guests come here to work? Residents, freelancers, but also those who may want surrounded by a new creative work place and maybe leave their regular offices for a day at Urban Deli.

The municipality of Kalmar have a problem, how to reach and communicate with young people in Kalmar. In today?s changing media environment it gets more difficult to stand out and reach audience with messages and especially with the new forms of media that has revealed. Therefore, we have been commissioned to develop recommendations on how the municipality of Kalmar can communicate with young people in Kalmar.  The purpose with this study is to investigate which media channels young people in Kalmar use and their attitudes towards social media in particular. We wanted to find out how the municipality should communicate to reach them and what attitude youths have against the municipality in general.

Mitt syfte med det här arbetet var att undersöka en grupp gymnasieelevers tankar kring sin inlärningssituation i matematik och se under vilka förutsättningar de själva tror att de lär sig bäst. Studien genomfördes med hjälp av 175 enkäter som delades ut på en gymnasieskola i Västergötland. De svarande tillhörde olika program och olika årskurser, och enkäten hade dels frågor med fasta svarsalternativ och dels några ganska öppna frågor. Resultatet kan sammanfattas med bland annat:- att de flesta elever tror att det är viktigt att öva många gånger på samma sorts uppgifter i matematik; framför allt flickornas svar betonar detta.- att det finns en svag positiv korrelation mellan använd tid till läxläsning i matematik och betyg i matematik även om kausaliteten är oklar.- att det finns en stark önskan hos många elever om förståelse av matematikstoffet..

Studiens syftar till att undersöka elevers uppfattningar om matematik och matematikundervisning. Arbetet består av en litteraturgenomgång och en empirisk del där intervjuer med åtta elever ingår.Både den teoretiskaoch den empiriska delen behandlar tre områden. Dessa områden är: - Varför har vi matematik i skolan? - Vad är matematik?- Hur bedrivs matematikundervisning? Den teoretiska studien beskriver frågeställningarna utifrån hur forskare, författare och lärare ser på det. Inom denna del inryms även en beskrivning om hur undervisning skulle kunna se ut i praktiken.

Tidigare undersökningar visar att nästan nio av tio gymnasieskolor använder sig av produkter från en dominerande aktör, nämligen Microsoft. Syftet med vår studie var att undersöka varför svenska gymnasieskolan inte använder sig av alternativ såsom öppen källkod och fri programvara i större utsträckning. Vi valde att avgränsa oss till att studera till den vanligast förekommande programvaran, såsom operativsystem, kontorsprogram och webbläsare. Vidare valde vi att lägga fokus på de datorer som står till elevernas förfogande. Vi genomförde en kvalitativ undersökning, baserad på intervjuer med respondenter som representerar 10 kommuner i Skåne län.

According to TCO (The Swedish Confederation for Professional Employees) the worst threat to the Swedish welfare is that so many people because of bad health and unemployment are not a part of the labour force. If Sweden could make the number of people with health and unemployment problems half the size as today, the GDP would increase with more than five percent. In real money this means 110 billion Swedish kronor a year. According to SCB (Statistics Sweden) the difference between women?s and men?s absence owing to illness should be investigated more closely in order to get at better understanding of the problem.

Syftet med denna studie är att studera elevers svårigheter i hanterandet av matematikuppgifter gällande omkrets och area samt att undersöka hur elevers kunskaper motsvarar kursplanens uppnående- och strävansmål. Kvalitativt inriktade intervjuer har använts som undersökningsmetod, då studiens huvudsakliga syfte har varit att på djupet undersöka och ge exempel på elevers förståelse. Elevsvaren har analyserats utifrån hur representationsformer, begreppsuttryck och innehåll används gällande omkrets, area och kursplanens mål. Eleverna visar svårigheter gällande omkrets- och areamätning och areakonservering, vilket utgör uppnåendemål inom målet att kunna undersöka matematiska problem och uttrycka sig muntligt med hjälp av grundläggande matematiska begrepp. Elevernas förståelse ökar när de får visa och förklara sin förståelse muntligt och med hjälp av bilder..

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to describe how Swedish public libraries use the online social network Facebook and its functions. Our focus of this study lies on how the librarians use the network and what experiences they?ve made. The questions we wanted to answer were:? How do the libraries in this study work with Facebook and its services? ? What do the interviewed librarians think about working with Facebook as an instrument?? What pros and cons can be identified from working with Facebook?The methodology used for this study was qualitative interviews.

Syftet med vår studie är att undersöka vad lärare bedömer och vad de upplever vara väsentligt att elever lär sig i matematik. Vi har utgått från aktuell litteratur som vi bedömt som relevant för vårt arbete. Vi har gjort kvalitativa intervjuer med åtta lärare i den kommunala skolan som arbetar i olika samhällen. Intervjusvaren har vi kategoriserat för att resultatet ska bli mer lättöverskådligt. Vi har analyserat svaren och kommit fram till att lärarna är mycket läromedelsbundna.

As well as other politic fields, the cultural politics adapt to changes in society. The development in society has brought attention to the interaction between the cultural field and the economic field. One of the main goals within Swedish Cultural Policies today is the development of cultural and creative economics. Politicians and researchers claim that culture can be a significant part in economic growth in cities and making a place attractive to live in.I became interested in the discussion around the cultural experience as a factor of economic growth when I participated in a seminar at Karlstad CCC during Kulturparlamentet 2012. When I then started working at the music festival Putte i Parken during the spring of 2013 I thought about making this study.The main aim is to investigate in which way Putte i Parken can be a factor of growth and a factor of making Karlstad an attractive place to live in by analyzing documents, reports and literature in a qualitative way of working.

Differences between groups or individuals in a society with regards to access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) are known as the digital divide. The digital divide pertains to differences in physical access to computers and the Internet as well as knowledgein using technology. Important factors affecting the digital divide are disabilities, age, gender, socioeconomical background, ethnicity and geography. The digital divide appears on several levels: internationally, nationally, regionally and locally. Individuals who, for some reason, have limited or no access to information and communication technologies risk, among other things, to experience social exclusion.

The scope of this master´s thesis is the issue of usability in relation to interface design,in particular the interface of a university library´s online public accessed catalogue, orOPAC. Since the OPAC can be seen as the library´s ?shop window? to the world, it isof great importance that the interface to the OPAC can be used by patrons witheffectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction.The master´s thesis is based on a qualitative study performed at Karolinska InstitutetsUniversity library, and contains both a usability evaluation and an interview study. Twointerfaces were evaluated: a standard web interface provided by the system supplier, andan interface developed in-house by Karolinska Institutet´s systems department. The twointerfaces are both connected to the same online library catalogue, thus making possiblea comparative study..

In this essay I analyze the way my collection of poetry relates to the concept cyclic. What is cyclic and what different interpretations are there concerning the concept? Which other related concepts are there regarding things that seem to reoccur regularly? How does the cyclical, the circular, relate to the linear in regard, for example, to the perception of time? Life often creates the sense that different phenomena and experiences repeat themselves. Different processes are conducted according to regular or irregular cyclical phases, situations seem familiar and events can be relived.         Starting from my writing project Sinnligt kviller, a collection of poems, I discuss these questions in themselves and the impact they have had on my collection. I describe the phenomenon cyclic as a result of the emotions and moods this term creates in a more or less decisive way.         The intention with this paper is to show how Sinnligt kviller offers different perspectives of and reflections upon the various feelings provoked by the cyclic in our lives, feelings that are given my own voice in the literary text under study..
