My aim in this case study has been to create a method for creature design to test this method in a production and evaluate the results. To achieve this I studied and analyzed the methods of three concept artists and illustrators named James Gurney, Neville Page and Iain McCaig. From the analysis of these artist´s methods, combined with my own personal experience, a new method was formed. To test this method a creature was designed based on directives given by a game design group in the process of creating a table top role playing game in a fictitious world. These directives where given for the creature´s role and its living conditions.

The overall aim with this study is to elucidate outdoor education as an education method and on the basis of that illustration to examine active educators vision on it as a way to motivate students' learning. This study is based on a literature component and a qualitative study through interviews five teachers.The results of the interviews show how to interpret the motivation and how to work with students' motivation. As well as outdoor education as part of the activity.  The interviews show the importance of outdoor education can be to increase students'motivation for learning. They also show the importance of outdoor education is for student learning and test scores have shown the effectiveness of student learning through outdoor education.

This thesis analyzes the consequences of ?Lex Uggla? ? a law concerning the boundaries between firm and individual with respect to wealth taxation ? for small businesses, with more than 3 million SEK in over-liquidity. There are two main findings of this thesis. Firstly, the wealth taxation of non-operational assets seems to be an inefficient tax which costs the Swedish welfare system much more than it generates. Secondly, the change in actions among entrepreneurs following the extensive news coverage following the tax authority?s charges against the company of the well-known artist, Magnus Uggla (hence ?Lex Uggla?) illustrates that neither changes of rules nor new applications of rules is necessarily sufficient for an agent to change course of action.

During this project a photographer and an illustrator have explored if a single image can communicate a bigger whole, in this case a movie. By analysing five motion pictures with visual communication theories, semiotics and colour symbolism as tools, ten images was created. These images do not only consist of symbols, but also communicate the overall feeling and colour scheme of the movie.These images have been tested in interviews with six individuals, who, except for one, work with visual communication of some kind. They have studied the communication skills of the images from their own experiences.The result of the interviews showed that all images could not communicate a movie. One reason for this was that only a few of the test persons had seen two of the selected movies.

Tropical rain forests only cover around six percent of the world?s land area and contain around 70 % of the world´s animals and plants. Tropical rainforests have been, and still are, negatively affected by human activities. These activities lead to forest degradation which has negative impacts on production and biodiversity. Between 1970-1980 forests in Borneo, Sabah, Malaysia, was subjected to intense logging.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva förändringsagentens strategier och arbetssätt för att hantera motstånd vid en förändringsprocess. Motståndet är kategoriserat i öppet/aktivt, öppet/passivt, dolt/aktivt och dolt/passivt motstånd. Vi har använt oss av en teoretisk referensram som behandlar organisationsförändringar, förändringsmotstånd, förändringsagenter samt dess strategier och arbetssätt. Utifrån den teoretiska referensramen har vi studerat en förändringsprocess vid Norrbottensteatern, där vi har intervjuat förändringsagenten tillika teaterchefen. Utifrån vår empiriska illustration har vi funnit att förändringsagenten har använt sig av en karismatisk förändringsstrategi.

Carbon sequestration through restoration of degraded pastoral soils is an advocated way of mitigating global warming, and simultaneously alleviating poverty. An often proposed rehabilitation strategy is fencing of pastures, a method that was introduced to the farmers of Chepareria by the Vi-Agroforestry organization in 1987. The landscape of Chepareria changed from eroded, over-grazed grasslands, to a mixture of open-grazed commons, pastoral enclosures and cultivations. The aim of this study was to investigate (1) if the soil organic carbon (SOC) is higher inside the enclosures than on the open-grazed commons, (2) if SOC is affected by duration of fencing and (3) what effect cultivation of pastures has on the SOC. Estimations of vegetation cover and deep profile (100cm) soil sampling was performed on six clusters containing; (1) open-grazing (OG) (2) 1-5 years of fencing (FENCED(1)), (3) 7-10 years of fencing (FENCED(2)), (4) 15-23 years of fencing (FENCED(3)), (5) maize from OG (A(OG)), (6) maize from fenced pasture (A(FENCED)).

There have previously been very few studies of forests on Seram Island in the Eastern Indonesian archipelago and none before on lowland limestone primary forests. The COLUPSIA project on collaborative land use planning has therefore chosen Seram as one of two project sites. The objective of the COLUPSIA project is to establish collaborative and equitable land use planning. In order to achieve its objective the COLUPSIA project aims to improve understanding of traditional resource management and how it interacts with governmental systems, as well as enhancing knowledge about tropical landscapes and ecosystem services.The aim of this study was to contribute to the COLUPSIA project through describing lowland limestone forest on Seram Island in respect to (1) forest structure, (2) tree species richness and (3) tree species composition. We set up 5 plots, each of 0.2 ha, at one site, Mawalai, and collected data on tree variables (tree diameter ?10 cm) as well as for some other life forms and environmental data.

The aim with my master thesis is to develop and test the applicability of methods to quantify and map solute advective travel times and pollutant transport at the catchment scale. Such quantification and mapping can increase the understanding of catchment-scale pollutant transport in general and contribute to the identification of the main sources of water pollution and the most efficient measures to reduce such pollution. The study area is the catchment of Oxundaån, about 20 km north of Stockholm. For detailed GIS modeling of water flow and catchment-scale contaminant transport in water, I´ve used new high-resolution elevation maps, land cover maps and soil maps combined with other available relevant data..

The purpose of this essay is to analyse and understand how students, as consumers, choose brands from the aspects of the concept of CSR, the economic, social and environmental. The essay is based on a qualitative method with three focus groups, with five respondents in each of them. The respondents are all studying at Kalmar University and they have all studied some kind of economic-course. We have used a lot of different sources for our theory chapter, this because of the fact that we wanted to have different angles, so that we would be able to cover all of the questions we wanted to discuss in the focus groups. In our two final chapters we discuss the issues similar to the theory section and we highlight our own thoughts.

My goal with this Project was to create four pictures which de¬scribed four different emotions. The purpose of the project was that the pictures would be placed in a psychology department and they could use them as a starting point for a discussion about the patients? emotions. My personal purpose was that I wanted to create pictures in scale 1:1 in an analogue fashion, and try to learn more about how people see and feel about pictures. What kind of thoughts can a picture give you? Can I create a picture which can be used as a platform for a discussion? Can I make a picture which describes an emotion? The making of the pictures started with developing ideas and then I took photographs of my friend Joel, in different situations and moods, which I used as reference for my paintings.

Mina mönster rör sig kring naturen, skogen och dess invånare.Flamingon står framför en blomma som slingrar sig uppåt, bredvid ser hjorten på oss med en bestämd blick och en snigel rör sig långsamt fram över en yta av växtlighet. Det här är min egen värld som jag skapar med tecknandet som grund, varje mönster är som att leka med ett dockhus, jag flyttar runt djuren och möblerar om med blommorna tills jag hittar en ordning och skapar små världar där djuren och naturen kan frodas. De har inte en kontinental tillhörighet, de hör inte till ett specifikt ekosystem eller en specifik del av jorden. De tillhör min egen värld, de är inte enbart från regnskogen eller norden. Det är en salig blandning av allt, det som finns på riktigt och det som är fantasi..

Det har tidigare pågått många experiment och examensarbeten inom ansikts- och ögondetektering och många är medvetna av detekteringsalgoritmernas existens men däremot är den parallaxeffekten inte lika vältalad trots att tredimensionell och djupupplevelse är vanlig för oss. Vad är parallax? Hur är det att implementera och använda det i datorspel?Syftet med detta projekt är att förstå den parallaxeffektens påverkan i datorspel och hur människor upplever det. Den parallaxeffekten som undersöks är en djupupplevelse som uppfattas när vi rör oss, till följd av skillnaden på bilden beroende av huvudets rörelse, vilket är rörelseparallax. Lösningsförslaget till projektet är att använda sig av webbkamera till att detektera och följa ansiktsrörelse och anpassar grafiken till det.

Vi har arbetat med ett gemensamt masterprojekt på institutionen för Grafisk Design & Illustration.Vårt projekt bygger på att generera idéer, där vi använder lek- och lustbetonade workshops som en metod för kreativt skapande.Som en del av vårt projekt sammanställer vi en katalog över idéerna, tänkt att fungera som en idébank. Eftersom det inte trycks någon officiell utställningskatalog på Konstfack i år vill vi lansera denna idékatalog som "den officiella utställningkatalogen". Med hjälp av vår workshop-metod skapar vi 40-60 "masterprojekt" på sju av Konstfacks institutioner, utifrån idéen att man efter en konstnärlig utbildning kan applicera sin kreativitet på olika discipliner.Katalogen är viktig för att kunna presentera och jämföra våra projekt på lika villkor som de äkta masterprojekten. Denna jämförelse gör det möjligt för oss att väcka frågor som rör kvalitet och värde i ett projekt, i relation till besökarens upplevelse av nyssnämnda. Kommer man kunna skilja ett textilprojekt av en masterstudent på T, från ett textilprojekt av två masterstudenter på GD&I?.
