The purpose of this thesis is to examine and present the oportunities of solvingcontrol problems using Modelica. This is done by creating some demonstrationexamples with exercises. These examples should cover as many types of controlproblems as possible. The exercises are aimed for people with basic knowledgein modeling and automatic control engineering but with little or no knowledgein Modelica. Reindeer husbandry and Forestry are both area related industries and will in big extent use the same lands. Conflicts often arise because of that the industries have different interests. Many of the activities done by the forestry influences the reindeer husbandry in an undesirable way, simultaneously as the reindeer husbandry activities can have negative consequences for the forestry. One such forestry activity is fertilization. It was during the 1960´s forest fertilization began to be practiced and the reason was that the increase in growth that the fertilization gave could be able to cover for the future shortage in wood many feared. During the 1970´s when the fertilizing activities were most intensive about 200 000 ha was fertilized annually.

The overall aim with this study is to elucidate outdoor education as an education method and on the basis of that illustration to examine active educators vision on it as a way to motivate students' learning. This study is based on a literature component and a qualitative study through interviews five teachers.The results of the interviews show how to interpret the motivation and how to work with students' motivation. As well as outdoor education as part of the activity.  The interviews show the importance of outdoor education can be to increase students'motivation for learning. They also show the importance of outdoor education is for student learning and test scores have shown the effectiveness of student learning through outdoor education.

In our study, we investigated how the streamed TV domain relates to existing design principles for web design. Further, we have investigated whether there are specific characteristics of the domain that the design principles do not cover. In the survey we have studied two sites which are representative of the streamed TV domain. Finally, we discuss how applicable the design principles are for the domain and the specific characteristics that would require new or further developed design principles..

The purpose of this study is to survey and evaluate if the individual contrast sensitivity and preferences for horizontal and vertical lighting level correspond to the values that standard SS-EN 12464-1 recommends for the workplace- and surrounding light levels.This study examines if lighting should be adapted after the individuals? need or if a general value can be found that will cover every individuals? need for a workplace and surrounding light level. This study also examines if parameters like sex, age and/or glasses/lenses have an effect on the amount of lighting that the test subjects need. Lastly we compared the values concerning the relationship between workplace- and surrounding light levels with standard SS-EN 12464-1?s recommendations.The study is carried out with an experimental design that surveys 220 test subjects who were chosen by a selection of convenience.

The purpose of this essay is to study the impact of different factors on corporate capital structure. The factors studied in relation to corporate debt ratio are industry affiliation, size and profitability. The study involves all 252 companies quoted on the Stockholm stock exchange and cover a time period from 2007 to 2011. The result shows that branch affiliation has a significant impact on corporate debt ratios. Regarding size and profitability, however, these factors do not have an evident impact on corporate debt ratios..

Detta examensarbete gjordes under hösten 2011 och beställdes av Accesia AB, som ville tafram en prototyp till ett elektroniskt verktyg för mätning av tandfickors djup, kallatfickdjupsmätning. Verktyget är tänkt att användas vid veterinärtandvård för hundar och katter.Detta är en procedur som idag görs med en graderad sticka och som ger upphov till risk förfelaktiga avläsningar. Användaren ska med hjälp av mätutrustningen kunna mäta fickdjupelektroniskt. Systemet presenterar sedan mätvärdena och skickar dessa till en värddator.I rapporten beskrivs hur vi har gått tillväga från idé till färdig prototyp. The purpose of this study is to investigate how a children's book is suggested to be prepared in order to be accepted for publication by a publishing house in Sweden today.My questions was first to clarify the concept of a "children's book". Secondly, to understand if there are any guidelines to follow regarding the design and illustration of a children´s book, and how to proceed with the best chances of getting a mauscript published.To answer the question, I have chosen to use a qualitative method containing questionnaire items involving eleven Swedish publishers of children's literature.My results show that children's books includes all literature that has an target audience of people between 0-18 years of age. The most important thing is that the book's material is appropriate to the target group's level of mental perceptions and emotional competence. The material which then is submitted to the publisher will need to be of the highest quality and the author must investigate a consistent niche in order to submit the material to a publisher..

Grubbe Ventilation AB is a sheet metal and ventilation company who provides design, installation, service, and repair of ventilation. The company is expanding their business by building a new facility in Umeå, Västerbotten. The property is designed to be used for both office and industrial work.Grubbe Ventelation AB has not yet decided upon wish system which is to be established to provide the building with heating and cooling. The consulting firm Umeå Projekt Team has therefore been asked to investigate the possibilities to invest in geothermal- heating and cooling.If the investigation of a geothermal heating- and cooling system would provide favorable results it would be a very appropriate alternative that provides energy at low costs and are an environmentally friendly option as the energy comes from stored solar energy in the ground is provided by stored solar energy in the ground.The facility ´s heating and cooling consumptions are calculated in the program BV2 and the result indicate a heating demand of 185 000 kWh per year due to thermal transmittance, transmission losses, heating of warm water and a cooling requirement of 5500 kWh.Three different systems of geothermal heating and cooling were tested in the computer program Energy Earth Design. The results show no difference in the dimensioning of the drill hole if merely heating were to be used or both heating and cooling were to be established.

Rapporten redogör för ett arbete om hur man med visuella medel kan hjälpa icke svensktalande patienter som ligger inlagda på geriatriken att kommunicera hur ont de har, vart de har ont och vilken typ av smärta de känner, till vårdpersonalen. Analyser har gjorts av det befintliga kommunikationsmaterialet som används på sjukhus. Baserat på det materialet har det tagits fram ett förslag på ett visuellt kommunikationssystem som är anpassat efter äldre icke svensktalande patienter. Förslaget har grundats på litteratur, forsknings artiklar, intervjuer och utprovning. Förslaget är bara en början på lösningen av problemet och jag anser att man skulle kunna ta fram ett optimalare förslag om man utforskar vidare på en lösning.

Studien handlar om hur elever uppfattar illustrationer i läroböcker och hur deras förståelse eventuellt påverkar vilken typ av bilder de föredrar. För att få reda på vad elever i årskurs nio tycker är en bra illustration av växthuseffekten gjordes intervjuer på fyra olika skolor.Eleverna ombads berätta vad de visste om växthuseffekten innan de fick välja ut den bästa av sex olika bilder. Eleverna svarade också på vad som var bra med bilderna och vad som inte var bra med bilderna. De skulle också förklara växthuseffekten utifrån den bild de valt som bäst.Resultatet visar att oavsett elevernas förkunskaper vill de ha en välritad, avancerad bild med förklarande text i bilden och pilar som visar vad som händer. Undersökningen visar också att eleverna har svårt att skilja mellan ozonlagrets och växthuseffektens betydelse..
