The purpose of this study was to investigate the levels of social distance used by the librarians and users in the virtual reference interview. With a Conversational Analysis and applied politeness theory 49 chat transcripts where analysed in order to answer the question of how the interlocutors positioned themselves regarding the social distance between them. By identifying what communicative strategies where used the following results were found. Generally the social distance between librarians and users is low in the Swedish virtual reference interview. Even though both parties used informal and casual language the results indicate that the librarians face wants were valued slightly higher than the users which were illustrated by a some what higher social distance in the stages of the conversations when the librarians face was under most threat.

The purpose in this study was to investigate how the school staffs work in secondary schools with grades sixth to ninth. How do the schools discover, prevent and stop cyber-bullying? Do the schools? have any experiences of cyber-bullying? How do the schools work with anti-bullying concepts ? have the new phenomenon cyber-bullying affected and changed the schools´ anti-bullying work in connection with the guidelines and in relation to the "new technology"? Aphasia is a linguistic impairment which affects communication and may have an impact on a person?s narrative ability. The purpose of the present study was to analyse the narrative ability in aphasia by narrative interviews with people with aphasia and their partners. The interviews were scrutinised for strategies used in joint narration involving couples where one of the spouses has aphasia. The definition of strategies was methods to cope with communicative difficulties often due to aphasia.

Nine horticultural therapy gardens were contacted of wich three chose to participate. Using case study as method e-mail interviews was carried out with the participants about their establishment and what kind of theories they based their methods upon. The material collected from the interviews was complemented with additional data from the establishments web pages and information pamphlets. Collected data was processed trough content analysis and then formed as background for the development of a program theory for horticultural therapy.

Dementia may cause difficulties in communicating. People suffering from dementia are therefore often described as being unable to take part in meaningful conversation. The responsibility to create understanding in a conversation is shared by all participants. By means of different strategies, participants in conversation can construct understanding through collaboration. How these strategies are utilized in conversation where one or more of the participants suffer from dementia is relatively unknown.

Introduktion Alla samtal karaktäriseras av en önskan att förstå varandra och av ett samarbete för att nå dit. Det är välkänt att samtal mellan personer med nedsatt kommunikationsförmåga och normaltalare ofta är ojämlika och att deltagaren utan funktionsnedsättning dominerar samspelet. Syfte: Syftet med föreliggande arbete är att kartlägga vardagliga kommunikationssituationer där en deltagare med kommunikativt funktionshinder interagerar med olika samtalspartners. Metod: I studien deltog två förskolebarn som använder tecken som alternativ och/ eller kompletterande kommunikation, TAKK. Barnen filmades i vardagliga miljöer hemma och på förskolan med olika samspelspartners. Materialet analyserades utifrån principer från Conversation Analysis. Resultat: Flera fenomen framkom som stöder tidigare forskningsresultat. Samtalens innehåll utgick till stor del från ett här- och nuperspektiv.

I föreliggande studie undersöktes kommunikativa resurser i samtal mellan tre personer med afasi och deras respektive logoped/anhörig. Syftet var att identifiera och analysera resurser som samtalsdeltagarna gemensamt använde för att uppnå intersubjektivitet. Vidare undersöktes om det, utifrån vem personen med afasi samtalade med, fanns någon inverkan på hur de kommunikativa resurserna användes. Sex dyader spelades in och samtalsanalys användes för att studera materialet. Samtalsämnen valdes fritt av samtalsdeltagarna.

The goal with our research has been to describe how often and in what way female athletes are represented in the sport section in Sweden?s biggest evening newspaper Aftonbladet. The material we?ve used are the newspapers that we collected during two weeks in 2008, the 3rd of November to the 9th of November and the 11th of November to the 17th of November. We?ve conduced two qualitative researches ? a text analysis and an image analysis ? and one quantitative analysis on our material.

The aim of this study is to analyse and investigate a rather new field of LIS studies, i.e. link analysis which is a part of webometrics. Webometrics has been described as the quantitative study of web based phenomena drawing on bibliometric or informetric methods. Link analysis has its counterpart in citation analysis within the field of bibliometrics. The questions the study investigates are if webometrics can provide LIS with new knowledge and if there is a place for webometric studies in LIS research.

The purpose of this enquiry was to study how the rhetoric about immigrants (invandrarprat) influences the interpretation of reality in regards to new swedes. The study was conducted with the help of qualitative interviews with eight new swedes who, apart from their country of origin, by Swedish social standards would be considered average. Two questions were examined for the purpose of this study:1. How do new swedes react to rhetoric about immigrants?2.

Relationen mellan spelare och system-styrda spelkaraktärer är viktig för spelupplevelsen (Freeman, 2004), men ignoreras alltför ofta. Detta examensarbete undersöker om denna relation kan stärkas med hjälp av småprat och ?conversational storytelling?. För att komma fram till ett svar definieras begrepp som dialog, småprat och relationer i bakgrunden. Vad som definierar en djup karaktär tas också upp, eftersom djupa karaktärer krävs för att väcka emotionell respons hos spelare (Adams & Rollings, 2007).
