In this thesis, it is investigated if it is possible to create a common factor of the work tasks done by an air traffic Controller, which then can measure workload. This will lead to the development of a tool to measure workload at small airports. In the research project a questionnaire is created to measure the different tasks an air traffic Controller has. The same questionnaire will also measure the number of environmental factors that exists around the air traffic Controller. To measure the validity of the questionnaire, the authors are using NASA-TLX.

This report describes the scientific work of designing and manufacturing an intelligent Controller module prototype for automobile trailer connections. The functions of the module are both to drive the lamps and detect failures. The module also contains functions to handle other functions of the trailer. To learn about Controller modules the group does extensive feasibility study.The group receives three already existing modules, the functions of the three modules are studied and tested in the lab, this is done too get a overview of the construction. The method used I called reversed engineering, a way of constructing by analyzing constructions already done.When the modules are analyzed, the functions of the prototype are tested and designed without copying the analyzed modules.

This report describes the design and construction of a prototype that automatically aims a microwave link towards a target. The link, that is located on a mobile aerial mast, is used by Saab Training Systems as a part of an infrastructure network. The report also discusses the development of a GUI that communicates with the control unit by Bluetooth.The control unit, called Pan/Tilt-Controller, controls the position of the link by stepping motors. One motor controls the azimuth angle and the other one controls the elevation angle.By a GUI the operator enters the coordinates on its own position and the targets position. Hereafter a bearing is calculated and it will be sent up to the control unit.The control unit will sense its own direction by a magnetic sensor that works as an electronic compass.

 This abstract describes the bachelor degree thesis in computer technology at Växjö University. The company BSR in Växjö has requested an application that can measure a cars performance, with attributes like acceleration times and engine power estimation. The communication between car and computer is via the USB port on the computer and the OBD-II socket on the car with the network protocol CAN, Controller area network. Cars from VAG have been the primary focus group and the application has been tested on a Volkswagen Passat CC from 2009. The system is developed in the programming language C# in the environment Visual Studio with the framework .NET.

This thesis considers the development of the software for an, newly developed, embedded real-time control system, based on a Periferal Interface Controller (PIC). The control system is developed to be used for several different applications. In this thesis work, software for two different applications are developed. The first task is a time controlled system, while the other task is implementation of aPI-/PID-Controller. A user interface is also developed and implemented.The time controlled system is an automatic horse feeder, which is used for feeding horses at certain predefined points in time.

This report deals with the design of a Controller for SmartMedia? flash memory cards, based on a hardware description found in the SmartMedia? Interface Library - SMIL. The design was made on logic gate level, using standard cells in OrCAD Capture. After simulation of the design in PSpice A/D, it was exported as an EDIF netlist, which was used to make a chip layout in L-Edit, a layout tool for making integrated circuits. The layout was made using a method called Standard Place and Route - SPR, where the layout tool places standard cells from a library and connects them according to the EDIF netlist.

Sammanfattning  Det finns många definitioner av vad yrket Controller innebär, vilket visar att yrkestiteln är svårdefinierad. Syftet med studien är att beskriva Controllerns arbetsroll i medelstora tillverkande privata företag och om Controllerns roll fokuserar mer mot styrorienterade uppgifter eller mer mot traditionella ekonomiuppgifter. Vi utformade därför följande frågeställning: Är dagens Controller i tillverkande företag mer styrorienterad eller mer en traditionell ekonomichef? Vi valde att genomföra en kvalitativ studie eftersom det möjliggör en djupare förståelse och sedan använde vi oss av en deduktiv ansats där vi gick från teori till empiri. I vår teoretiska referensram har vi beskrivit olika egenskaper, färdigheter, roller och arbetssätt som ingår i Controllerns yrke.

Bakgrund: Sjukvården beskrivs som oerhört komplex och genom bland annat utveckling av ny och dyr teknik, som i sin tur genererar bättre vård, gör det svårt för sjukhus att hålla sin budget. En Controller har en fundamental roll i en organisations ekonomistyrning och ska med hjälp av diverse styrmedel styra och kontrollera så att verksamheten drivs mot ekonomiska mål.Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen var att beskriva och analysera hur en Controller inom sjukvården använder ekonomiska styrmedel för att nå ekonomisk måluppfyllelse samt skapa en förståelse för hur en Controller hanterar balansgången mellan ekonomisk måluppfyllelse och vårdkvalité.Metod: Uppsatsen är formad med en kvalitativ forskningsdesign. En flerfallstudie har använts som forskningsstrategi där den empiriska datan är insamlad genom ostrukturerade intervjuer med anställda vid två sjukhus i Småland, länssjukhuset i Kalmar och centrallasarettet i Växjö. Det teoretiska avsnittet är byggt med data som insamlats från litteratur och vetenskapliga artiklar som varit tillgängliga via Linnéuniversitetets bibliotekskatalog.Slutsats: De resultat som framkommer av studien påvisar att en Controllerns användning av styrmedel tenderar att fokusera på ekonomisk måluppfyllelse. Genom användning i större utsträckning av de styrmedel som är under utveckling finns möjligheter för Controllern att även påverka vårdkvalité..

This master thesis is a result of the work carried out for Research Electronics at Siljansnäs. The company develops customized electronical systems. Because of the rapidly increasing interest in colour displays there has been a desire within the company to represent information from sensors and electrical systems in a more advanced way.Due to the mentioned reason above we were given the assignment to solve how a colour display using the STN technique works. The technique is used by small displays, the size of QVGA. Our ambition of this diploma work is to develop a fully functionally test prototype to evaluate the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and the LCD Controller.

Controllerrollen har sitt ursprung i USA där den verkade i de amerikanska järnvägsbolagen under 1800-talet . Termen kom sedan till Sverige runt 1970-talet då intresset för en Controller ökade i Europa. Behovet av Controllerfunktionen har ökat bland annat beroende på en ökad decentralisering, som medför ett behov av exempelvis information kring företagets ekonomi till flera nivåer.I och med att omvärlden förändras så måste även företagen förändras. För att kunna behålla sin konkurrenskraft har ekonomistyrningen samt Controllerrollen hamnat mer i fokus. Controllerns arbetsuppgifter har gått från att enbart vara inriktad mot bokföring till att ha en mer verksam roll i ledningsgruppen. När det anses otydligt vad en Controller egentligen ska arbeta med blir det svårare för företagen att själva förstår motivet till varför de tillsätter en Controller. In this master thesis a robot arm belonging to an automatic milking machine from DeLaval is investigated. The robot arm is controlled by a pneumatic cylinder and a valve. The goal of the master thesis is to investigate instability problems and to find out if it is possible to solve them by using gain scheduling. Gain scheduling is a type of Controller where the parameters of the Controller are changed during operation, for example depending on the working point. First a nonlinear mathematical model of the system was made.

The idea to develop  a platform for a PID-Controller came from the need to control the temperature in  an espresso machine in a more exact way than a thermostat could perform. In discussions with Syntronic AB the idea developed into PID-control for industrial use. Syntronic AB suggested that the platform should be based on a commercially available processor module to shorten the development time. The suggestion included the use of the microcomputer Raspberry Pi, which supports USB, HDMI, memory card and Ethernet.The work began with establishing a schedule for the 10 weeks of the projects duration, and after that a system specification listing all functions, implementation and limitations was made. When the foundation of the system specification was done, a preliminary system design took shape.Because of the Raspberry Pi´s lack of Analog-to-Digital converter, a circuit board containing Wheatstone bridges, differential amplifiers and a two channel Analog-to-Digital converter was fabricated.

Denna studie behandlar Controllern och dess roll. Då Controllerrollen upplevs som väldigt diffus är syftet att förtydliga vad en Controller är genom att använda begreppen bönräknare och företagspartner. Den teoretiska referensramen tar upp teorier från centrala författare inom området, bland annat Lindvall, Mattsson, Frenckner och Samuelson. Studien är en kvalitativ studie och utfördes på Saab AB i Arboga. Totalt åtta stycken djupintervjuer genomfördes med både Controllers och icke-Controllers för att på detta sätt kunna få en djupare förståelse för Controllerrollen.

This paper was part of the ongoing cooperation between the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority and the Department of Psychology at Lund University. The purpose of this study was to develop a self-report measure regarding human factors, for the air traffic Controllers to fill out before they start their working shift. This in order to aid the team leaders in their judgment regarding the air traffic Controller's ability to perform at the right safety level. The self-report measure would also serve as an aid for the air traffic Controllers who have a responsibility regarding their own performance. If successful this self-report measure would make it easier for the air traffic Controllers to be alert regarding certain factors that can have a large impact on their performance.
